ok im using gmax and i made a sephiroth model. its really kickass btw :ggani: however, im having trouble understanding tutorials here on wc3campaigns and several other places. i read somewhere that i need to use UVW mapping in max to do this, but i dont know how its done (not enough detail in the tutorial :bgrun: .....) please someone help me with this. i know a lot of people would love a Sephiroth model, and im gonna put it up for download when its done, but i need to know how to make a skin for it using gmax. |

Yes, but it still has the same basic principals. Read it, and you'll understand waht uv unwraping is. In gmax, btw, to unwrap a model you click on "unwrap uvw" in the modifaction window, and then on "edit uvw". |

to skin it export it with dex convert to mdx then use mdxtext edit to convert it to obj then use the part of the tutorial in the link above to unwrap it in lithunwrap export it as a 3ds then loiad in gmax and apply the texture |

lol wow lots of steps. but thnx everyone! i guess it'll take me a bit longer than i thought. i have most of the model done, all excpet the arms and sword, so im guessing its gonna be about 1200 polys. is that ok? or does it need to be less? |

Oh man... aim for between 300 and 500 polys, always. Well, 1200 might be ok for a hero, or a unit where there is no danger of more then 4 or 5 of them on the screen at once, but still, aim for 300-500. |
