I wouldn´t go calling it better than CotN yet, i´ll wait for the next episode before i go on saying big words like that... |

For furture reference btw, I AM half-deaf. I can't hear quiet stuff like sea ambience or wind lol. And I'll agree that CotN's story aint spectacular or anything, but he still has done drama already. There have been several scenes with the heroes mourning their losses and deliberating over their next move. And like I said, CotN 1 had no battles, unless you count one freakin' punch, which I certianly do NOT lol. And if you'd look closely you'd see that I liked your cinematic Zurg, I even pointed out the vision as being by far the best-done scene in the movie, and one of the best of all time, however as good as yours was HoE was still better. If it makes you feel better, when I was judging I watched yours first, and I was pretty convinced that you were gonna win because of everything you did, but oh well. Besides, don't get too bent out of shape over it, hell ALOT of people still think that CotN is better than IC, and while the camera work and terrains kick my *** from here to China, what I get annoyed with is people going nuts over his comedy skills lol. I don't complain about it, unless it's getting rediculous. I still say that DK's best talent is terraining, and I don't think even the most devote CotN fanatic could disagree with me there. -Insaniteus- |

Ok, i see what you mean. I will now shut up all complaints about the review or contest outcome, cause i am sick and tired of arguing. Sorry for my critism of the review. |

Wow! emote_sweat I never thought my cin can become a reason of such debates! I wasn't trying to beat CotN or IC, and seeing people comparing HoE with CotN really surprises me. Btw, thx to every body. lol Heart Of Evil is almost my first cinematic experience (actually, I already did some cinematic work with one old map, but that's not much at all), it's my first cinematic map, and I'm really pleased that alot of people like it so much! And this fact encourages me even more on making part2 (and maybe putting some changes on part1. It has a lot of shit to be fixed, like that ridiculous treasure hunting :ggani: ). And what is that shit everybody is talking about sound effects? There is sea ambience, there's wind, there's thunder, there's rain sounds... When it's battle there are battle sounds... I think every place, where sound is required, has one. Could someone please explain me, with examples, what actual sonds are nedded? And I would also appreciate some advice about how to make music transitions softer. And Zurg, I've watched your cinematic and I can say that I like it! The dvd menu rocks, there is some beutiful music, some scenes are very good (especially the vision). The cin is not that bad, it just needs some more work. The idea is great, but the cin itself looks unfinished. If you spend some more time on it, changing some things, without loosing the whole idea. The main problem in Encaliel, imo, is that it's not actually drama. Y'know what I mean, it's already not a usual action-adventure-fantasy, but it's not drama yet. It stuck somewhere in the middle and that's why it looks unfinished. The problem of "the worst ending" lol (and of the whole cinematic itself) that it has much from the mood of movies where you expect a great battle in the end, the spectator gets intrigued more and more... Y'know, during the cinematic you make too much accent on the battle itself, so the spectator gets disapointed when the thing he so much expected doesn't take place. And the ending is not bad because it's TEXT, the problem is IN THE TEXT ITSELF. It doesn't contain what it should contain, it doesn't put a question, a point or an exclamtion, it just tells nothing. And why is it called Encaliel? Calling the movie with the name of the character it is expected that the main line in the movie is exploring the development or degradation or transformation or whatever of the character. And there's not enough scenes in the cin that really show the inner world of your hero. Like I said, the idea is very good, you should just work on it a bit more. And btw, Encaliel is only 7 points lower then HoE. lol |

First off I liked the music transitions you had, when a scene changes or a battle starts/ends etc the music SHOULD make a drastic change. DK was the one who didn't like them, but he's a LotR usic freak lol. Secondly, I can't physically hear quiet sounds like sea ambience, wind, and rain. You guys need to turn your sound effects up more or something. As for parts that needed sounds: 1: The Shaman lighting the fire, coulda used a fwoosh sound like a catapult firing. 2: When the Hero hits the werewolf in the face it doesn't make a sound until he blows up, it needs a thud first since it takes a whole second to blow the guy up. 3: You made your map using Cinematic Mode I think (can't check, no WE) and that blocks all combat sounds etc. I GREATLY prefer that EVERYONE use Letterbox and Disable player control like I did in IC. 4: In the town we should've been able to hear the peasents working. 5: When the boat crashed there really should've been a loud CRASH. 6: When the werewolves showed up, the scene would've been far better with things like growling and howls coming from the forest before we could actually see them. 7: When the archer fires her arrow and the camera follows it there's neither a firing sound or a hitting one. 8: When the Demon was showing up in dude's vision it could've used a sound effect more than just a high note in the music to amplify it. Those are jsut a few points I thought of offhand. I do remember you having thunder and rumbling and exploding sounds, but you can always have more. PS: About your skins, sure the hero was mostly a recolor but he still looked pretty good. The Demon and the crazy old man though were quite nice, and since you were the only entry AT ALL to use skins you got a push for it lol. -Insaniteus- |

lol guys come on, I'm feelin like I'm everyone's punching bag here ^_^ Quote:
COTN 1 was good 7 months ago as it was the only cinematic with timed music and something looking like a story. It's really not a reference anymore =) Quote:
Yea that's weird, COTN isn't really meant to be funny. Who said it was better than IC humour-wise? Quote:
Aw bitch! ;) The problem I saw was that sometimes it played like 3 different songs in a single minute... not too appropriate sometimes. But the music choice was alright, you're the one that actually complained about it! =) |

Shooter, IC is a comedy. CotN is a saga. Which one of these genres is meant to be funnier? Plus: Quote:

No I didn't, I said his music was great, just that In the Hall of the Mountain King was a little weird for a war scene. I did complain a slight bit on Zurg's music, actually for the OPPOSITE reason, not ENOUGH musical variety lol. PS: I have seen people who were major fans of yours attempt to say that your comedy was better than mine lol. You think CotN 1 is old, IC's so damn old that it was your inspiration! Man, it's amazing how much better I am since when i made that movie, but I just have nothing to actually show for it. -Insaniteus- |

I got faith in him! He just gave me a great excuse which is true cause when I made the contest map I was a newb at triggers. I still need to work a lot more on my storywriting tho. |

I'd love to release something, but all I have are 3-4 unfinished works and I can't even open them anymore  . Heck, they probably don't even work with the modern patches and TFT. -Insaniteus- |
