I wrote out a goblin tech tree, but I won't post it until we are done or nearly done with the tauren. 2 examples, though. Example buildings: 1. Altar of Industry - Altar and lumber mill at the same time. 2. Alchemist - Has Autocast spell that takes one lumber and turns it into 1 gold every five seconds while on. Perhaps, for the Fissure Spell, I should cause the terrain to collapse? Benifits are that it may look cool, but it may look too stretched. |

TiJiL, that tauren heo is perfect, and such low polies means you can add more :) although i think his upper back\neck could be lowered down in size, ive looked at the tauren models enough that it shouldn't be that big - it would hurt his bones alot :P |

Nah, Gerundok. I'm going to keep his proportions as is. (Look at the standard tauren model. Its chest is ridiculous. I like that caricature-style art for this project, as I'm aiming for merely an extention to Warcraft) I wish to elaborate on a previous rule. I decree now that it's fine to plan on races and think about the tech trees, etc, as it will help us do the campaigns and help us establish current races that will work well with the future ones. HOWEVER: No material work should be done on other races by anyone unless that person is entirely finished with their material work for the current race. IE I don't get to model goblins or anything else until all tauren models are finished. However, if Runemane, for instance, finishes all required map-work for the tauren, he may move on to the goblins. Oh, and thanks Gerundok. I like the model, too. I have enlisted the help of Antihero to skin it for us, and also put forth two different posts to call help to us. If you would, please respond to one or both of these threads, to aid me in getting help. Modeler Call Skinner Call |

Hmmm, that could work.... but why would the tauren want to deal with affairs within the Ashenvale forests? TiJiiL, how many maps do you want for the tauren? Im working ona second already, a 2v2, then Ill do a 3v3, 4v4, and an FFA fi you want. OK, We NEED to decide a name. That is the biggest thing, fi we dont have a name, we sound unorganized... I like Warcraft III: Skies of Fire, I also like Warcraft III: (that one name that TiJiL posted a little bit back). |

I'm going to have to cut off the Ominious Causatum. Apparently, causatum is not a word. I found it in one dictionary, but I have sinced looked it up in 4 more, none of which have it. I therefore think, then, that Warcraft III: Storm, Earth, and Fire is the funniest name. I will put my vote there. Here's the unofficial poll! -Warcraft III: Skies of Fire (2) -Warcraft III: Storm, Earth, and Fire (0) -Warcraft III: Lands of Strife (0) -Warcraft III: The Furious Storm (0) -Warcraft III: Ominous Horizons (2) Please, all who read this, respond with what name you think should be it. I really am rather indifferent. I'd like to decide this tonight, though, as I'm going to apply for hosting and web-space when we have a name laid down. (Then we must hire a web publisher. I think we should try to get Tiki to help us, for he's an awesome artist and will do a site for really cheap.) I like your idea, Frostigt. The tauren campaign could be first, about acquiring an artifact of the Earth Mother's Power to help restore the corrupted forest to its former glory, but on the last mission you have to protect the artifact, only to have it stolen anyway. (Even if you win mission, it's stolen) Then, the campaign shifts to the goblins in Lordaeron, angry with the lack of customers. They pack up and perhaps play a mission or two about their exodus to Kalimdor. Then, while there, perhaps they must create a new ring of sales and eliminate some enemies, perhaps the satyrs. Then, you switch to the satyrs, who wish to use the artifact for... BUM BUM BUM... Evil... And then stomething happens to conflict them with the final race, which you will play as in the final campaign, saving the artifact! Yay! Oh, and Runemane, I want a 1v1, a 2v2, a 3v3, a 4v4, and a FFA, like you said. Then, once we figure out the new tileset thing, we'll probably want a few more. |

Jeeze, I go away for a couple days and when I come back there are four new pages of replies. Im glad to see so much interest in this project. Tijil, when are you going to send me that model so I can skin it. I need to get a good start on it if you want it done soon. I hope its unwrapped well. Warcraft3: Skies of Fire |

I would love to create the new tilesets as well, but the damn image extractor doesnt work, it says its missing some module. what does it mean? Skies of Fire was my idea  glad its liked so much! |

Like your new avatar/title, Runemane. So... We've got 2 votes for Skies of Fire. That's the winner so far. (I'd like to wait and see what Bhav and Rabid think, at least) Should it be Warcraft III: Skies of Fire or Warcraft III: The Skies of Fire? Then what will our nifty little abbreviation be? SoF? TSOF? tSoF? SOF? The possibilities are endless! (Or not) |

I vote for "Ominous 'something'". My possibilities, I think, are, Ominous Debacle Ominous Calamity Ominous Transgression Ominous Foray Ominous Peril Any of those are good for me. "Skies of Fire", I think, while a cool name, is not good for this project because Rain of Chaos pretty much has the theme of skies of fire. Plus, we'd have to make the campaign involve igniting the skies, and I don't see how to do that. Another Goblin unit! -Aviator Tier one Flying/ranged unit The Goblin Aviators wield backpacks with large propellers attached to them. They are capable of transversing any terrain, though they are quite fragile while in the air. Also, whilst airborne, the aviator is unable to fire his chaingun until the "Straps" upgrade is researched. Must land to attack until you have tier three main structure and research Straps. |

I see youy point Bhav, of course, but the skies on fire is kind of an allusion to teh fact that some evil is rising on the horizon and that the races will have to rise up to put it down. Thx TiJiL, I like it too :infth: Changed it again, I edited it on photoshop, changed saturation, then colored eyes and added the runes on his mane (heh rune.. mane :gsmile: Golbin unit: Goblin Engineer: Worker (of course) Can gather a lot of wood and gold at a time, but they are slower than ither race workers due to their heavy mechinations they travel in. Can carry 20 gold and 30 lumber. Can get the cargo box upgrade to make tehm gatehr 10 more wood per load. |

Goblins actually get 2 workers like undead. Shredder, of course. For gold, they need a goblin that pushes a mine cart. Looks like I'll have to be making myself an Avatar of some kind of Tauren... if I can somehow find the 'points', I'll be a changin' my title to something Taureny, too. |
| 12-09-2003, 03:54 AM | #193 |
Ok, ok. How about Ominious Horizons? That would add Bhav's ominous word with a sky-like word that's a more conclusive allusion. (I also thought of that ROC kindof has the burning skies theme taken. Interesting) Really, I'd like to choose this tonight so I may send forth our application to be hosted. Also, I have talked to Tiki, and he would like 600 points for a website. I'd like to shop around a bit, but I doubt we'll get much better than that. So, I may need help in procuring the funds. (Shouldn't be hard, though, when/if we get hosted) (Oh, and Bhav, it's only 5 to change your title and 5 to change your avatar) I'd also like to get the name down so we can get Rabid to make all of the official staff members little signatures for advertisement and boasting rights. Finally, I think that the goblin workers should be Miner: (Gold collector) Fairly fast, collects 6 gold per trip, looks like a goblin pushing a cart. Dicer: (Primary lumber collector, also main melee unit) Fairly fast, collects 15 lumber per trip, looks like a crazed goblin with a saw/staff. (I'll post concept art sometime soon) Shredder: (Secondary lumber collector, not available until Tier II) Slow, collects 200 lumber per trip, looks like a goblin in a poorly-made, steam-driven mechanical suit. |

Ominous Horizons is a cool name, make it that :D also, any points needed for the site, i will add in my bit[i've got a few in the bank] ill also do anything for this to succed, i dont want another failed project, although its obvious this wont fail :) if you need any more points for the website TiJiL, just ask |

Ok, then, Gerundok. Here's your major assignment to help the project succeed. Do your best to acquire 3dsmax 4 and learn to model/animate with it. That would probably be the most ultimately helpful thing you could do. Oh, and glad to know we have your support. I won't need points for a while, as, Tiki at least, is tied up at the moment. (Finishing the site for another project) When he's ready, then we'll see if we buy from him. Oh, and just so you can see a bit of Tiki's Work , here is the WIP site for the union mod. |
