Those icons will work. And also about the sounds... im not sure i can change the sounds of the attack... but i can try. If anyone know how to, download those sounds of his, put them in a map and send it over to me. I know how to change the unit responses. Speaking of unit responses, i dont think its a good idea to have them for everyunit. We couldnt find enough sounds for them all. I think that we should probably use them for some of the vehicles, but not every unit. Plus, that would add download time to an already tremendously large download from bnet.

Alright, EVERYONE needs to get IRC and get in the channel. We need to get everyone in the same spot to meet. The talking on the forums takes over a week for a single conversation. Its not effiecent enough. PMs will go to everybody that i have not seen in the IRC channel (some people don't check the site or forums very often). We need to get going, this project is getting nowhere fast! And speaking of getting this project going, we seem to have a lack of members. I want everyone to ask around, see if you cant fill the spots in our roster. Also, when we get a bit more progress made, I will release what this project is about to the public, let them see it all, and hopefully get some serious popularity/support/members for our team.

Also, everyone need to check the site more often. There wasnt many updates earlier, but now we are going to use if more often.

sorry, but schoolwork is keeping me from doing much, and as i count my involvment in this project below some of the other more major mods, i've been forced to leave, heres what i've done in the world map, good luck to the rest of you.

Then, Vongimli, Actually i have an Idea of the Attack sounds:
Maybe put one of them into this path:

Where 1st - Start firering and the 2nd - its explosion(1,2,3 after hit and launch is only other versions of one sound and you should put your sound in all this versions to make it work propely)... Actually now I will try to remade the old version pack and put a new on this forum(sounds will be deleted into two parts)... This sound is a sound of Attack of Druid of talon... If you rename any of you sounds in that path, your unit will attack with the sound you want... I used WinMPQ to find this sounds and if you haven't got it DLL it... We can rename any attack sounds we whant.... To make it work just let Druid to attack and you could hear ne sounds... Frankly speaking there is mass of sounds of attack is War3.mpq...

EDIT: Actually in the World Editor we can find out changing the sounds of Melee Attack(!)....

What about putting our project into a separate one... I mean to put it into a Featured Projects Section of this site(Like Project Revolutions for example)... It will help us to post easely and we could find some more people for the project... I think Vongimli if you ask Draco about it he will agree, because we have the project growing bigger and bigger... Actually I think it could be even a Modification or a campaing... If you say that we are making a huge modification or a campaing he will surely agree... And of course we will make maps for BNet too, but they may have less things than a mod to economy the space(No Special sounds for example or smth like this)... Just think about it VonGimli... It will be one more step for our project!:ggani:

I also think that we need a forum area (?, whats the next higher thing up from a thread?), we have more done then a number of those other groups, and we need the space to open up a few other discussions, i'd like a model thread to post ideas, a private forum would help get people together aswell. I think the "real" requirements to get hosted are either, have an almost finished map/mod, or know somebody on the inside://// . But seriously, i will try and see what it takes to get hosted, and talk to the moderators, most of them are pretty nice. I suppose that Vongimli will have to do that instead of me though. And even if we talk and find out what we need, we might not get an area, and even if we did get an area, who knows how long it might take.

Just better for us to worry about the mod/map stuff right now.

P.S. I'd like to start a thread to disscuse wether or not this should be a full mod, or a campaign, or even just a set of maps. That is the sort of stuff that works alot better with a full area :////

Thats what i was trying to accomplish with my Operation Showtime (fancy name for how i said we were going to show people our stuff). Im going to talk to the moderators about that also.

About a full mod, im not sure if we are going to do that. I think we are going to have a mixture of it all. We are going to make the maps aimed toward bnet, and wrap it all up with a campaign we will put up for download. But i think we could make 2 campaigns, axis and allies campaign, and maybe then it would be a mod. Im not sure, but I know we are going to be doing a campaign at the end of this project.

Thats the sort of stuff that more threads would help. We can gauge how much support there is for a full mod, or even for a campaign. Besides, no matter what we decide to do, we've done more then a number of the hosted maps, and even a bit more then a couple of the hosted mods.

I haven't done anything for a bit here, but my spring break is coming up and i plan to do some stuff during that.

Alright, i contacted Electromancer, (the guy who decides who gets to be hosted) but i haven't gotten a reply yet. When I do I will tell you how it went.

Also, as a side note, when you send me maps with stuff in them, name it something else in the Map Description window. It gets really annoying when i have to look through 3512623463243 maps named "Just another Warcraft III map" to find what you sent me.

And Smaug, the map you send me with the models didnt work. All i saw on the entire map was my start location (Necropolis, 3 acos, ghoul)

What i need from people partcipating in this team is a list of missle models required and a simple explanation of what they want them to do... if it is extremely complex i suggest adding it directly to the model instead of having a seperate model for it. However if it is generic and/or complex put her up here n i'll start on it.

Currently im working on a general bomber. Looking VERY sweet and only 577 polies.

ah yes!

about skins. It would make more sence to have a few generalized skins and use them correctly then to have a individual skin for each model... IE. a skin// face texture to be placed on faces, a cloth//suit texture to place on clothes. A metal//steel texture to place on armour, symbols like the swastika or american flag to be placed on vehicles, clothing, and buildings. Would make things simpler.

And yah, wtf, why is there no canadians. Im so very hurt, really i am, I am canadian and my grandfather fought in the war. The canadians were a KEY role in the war and should not be excluded from this... at least thats what i think. What they acomplished was extrodinary considering the crap they had to go though...

but yah, besides me having a lil fit there, post what yah need for missle models ( if you dont know what a missle model is *god help us* its a model such as the priests attack, or the ziggarets attack)

I'll mostly let vongimli answer your questions, as for the models. I really like your idea for textures, but, i may be mistaken, i can't get models that have been uploaded in a map to use the same skin, i assume that it's just a problem i have. At any rate, that would save on alot of space.

As for missiles, we're going to need probably 3 types of tank shells, a very light kinda streak, heavier shell, and then a large artillery shell. If we wanted to be complex i could think of about 4 more types used in ww2(Armor piercing Arrow, Tungsten composite, Squash, etc.) I don't know how vongimli is planing on doing the armor/weapon stuff so i'll stick to the basics.

Most likely we're going to need a torpedo, and a depth charge, both of them should be simple enough to be separate models

We'll also need a flak shell, more then likely this will just be a particle effect though.

Beyond those we should be ok with some of the ones in warcraft (the missile works fine for a bazooka).

As for the Canadian thing. It's true that the Canadians were very important in the war, especially on D-day and the breakout, but the problem is that there are so many others that were almost as important. The Australians almost held the Germans in Africa by themselves, later on in the African war, alot of Indian units were of importance, and the axis had important side groups, the Finns, the Romanians, the Hungarians etc. I guess my point is, we will focus on the big 6, then if we have space (or turn it into a full fledged Total conversion) we can put in a set of skins, or simple flag/markers, for each other country.

I just want the basic shells, but everything else Smaug said seems to be what i want. Except for depth charges. Although we are striving for realism, depth charges were used on submarines that were under the battleship. The submarines will be firing from a distance, and we cant see what is under the water anyways. There is a certain limit to how accurate we can make this. So i dont need depth charges.

Your right about the torpedo's, more then likely that will just be a water trail. But as for the depth charges, how will the destroyers (i belive we we're having destroyers) attack submarines? Personally i think it works pretty well to just have a canister shoot out the back of the destroyer. And depth charges aren't just for under the ship, on most of them they shot out about 100 feet, so a medium range would still work.

You might be right though, i don't know if Wc3 can distingush between submerged units, and non-submerged. So it might be better to just have the submarine apear to be on the surface when a destroyer finds it, that way it can just shoot it with the main weapon.

So i guess vongimli's right, no torpedo, no depth charge (you see how i had to take 2 paragraphs to come to the same conclusion he did in a few sentences!)

I'll post it to Your mail Vongimli when I will make the "dark" versions of the icons... Then I'd take some icon ideas from your site (mass of Abilities for units and etc.)... Here is a screen:

And what about items model? How it will be used to put on the map (using War3 chest would be rather weird)... I mean the model of item when it is on the ground... Frankly speaking I suppose that it would be wise to put smth like bag on this... The model could be lowpoly(very lowpoly, even two boxes), the skin will be not so detail and it will need only some animations... 8))

N e ways, the bomber i started on yesterday is almost done. looking really cool lol. The propellers have a very VERY nice blur to them courtesy of some cool textures i gots. the attack animation has it swooping down, opening the good old bomb doors, dropping some bombs, and then swing around back to its original position. Pretty cool either way. Now all i gots to do is do the lil bombs and do a nice sprial dying death :p

skin is temp, had to put something at least on it no? :p
