@Mock1 : Quote:
@Mock1 : if I add a MDL<->MDX convertor, it will be one which is already coded, since I have less and less free time. I could let the Warcraft 3 Viewer use Nub's mdlx convertor. Or any else, if another exists. @J3lademaster : I have no time to work on a GMax plugin. First, I have no idea about how it works, and I have no time to read the SDK documentation. Second, there is already someone working on such a plugin. @both : if the "simplified" skins is, for you, the "rainbow" effect, "Those funny-colored circles and such", please send me your skins to allow me to test on my own computer if the problem exists. |

look at the tga the colors are smooth and in the viewer they get solid. |

I want the FULL skin to test (and the name of the mdx too), because for me, there are no "solid" colors with blizzard's skins. I think it's because your desktop is in 16bits. |

What is your e-mail I'll send you the tga. |

Mock1 had the following problem : the texture quality in Warcraft 3 Viewer was not optimal. There were "color circles" appearing, a kind of "decreased quality". But it does not come from the Warcraft 3 Viewer, it comes either from your graphic card drivers options, or of the color depth of your desktop. Here is what I answered him, which solved his problem : Check that your desktop resolution is not 16 bits per pixel (65536 colors) nor 256 colors (preferentially 32 bits, or 24 bits). (right click on the desktop, "Parameters" tab or something similar). Check, in your video card options, that the texture quality is not decreased or something like this (right click on the desktop, "Parameters" tab, "advanced" button or something similar). Check that everywhere you can put "32 bits" or "24 bits" (not 16 bits) in the graphic card drivers options, you put them. Check that you have the latest drivers for your graphic card. Reminders : * If anyone wants to translate the new How To / FAQ (made by J3lademaster) into German and/or Portuguese, he would be welcome. * If anyone wants to write a tutorial for the Warcraft 3 Viewer, or complete either J3ladermaster Help file, or KDEWolf's help file, he would be welcome. * The Warcraft 3 Viewer has arrived to a stage where I could not add features by myself. If you want I add new features, ask me, I can't guess, and if I have some free time to add them, I will. * If anyone wants to convert the Warcraft 3 Viewer either for Linux or Mac OS, he would be welcome. Don't forget it : the Warcraft 3 Viewer comes with a tool, named BLPConv, which is a command line tool to convert TGA<->BLP. Source code is available on request, and this would be a very simple tool to convert for Linux or Mac OS. |

i had a problem. before i updated 2 this latest version i did some skins 4 the betA SHADOW HUNTER that had alphas in certain places like ears and his tusk, but now when i view them the parts come out black instead. Any ideas as 2 what might be wrong. |

If you use the "remap textures" feature, be sure to use pictures in 32 bits (ie with an alpha channel), else the program will add an opaque one. Try to toggle the "hidden geometry" option, to see what's the result. Try to toggle the "Shadow" option. In fact, I have not changed something that could cause it I think, that's weird. Can you send me your texture ? |

I would like to have the batch mode be able to convert tga files which are lacking the alpha channel. If I use batch conversion I get a bunch of 0byte files, so I have to convert the them one by one. Quite tedious. So make the batch mode capable of adding an alpha channel, if it is lacking. |

Know that if it adds an alpha channel, it'll be an opaque one. OK ? |
| 02-22-2004, 06:01 PM | #254 |
Yeah, that's good. As an alternative you can have the user ask for confirmation for each conversion in the batch conversion or one comfirmation for them all. |

Should the opaque alpha channel be added only when converting into BLP or not ? |
