I say ask for confirmation. But if that takes too ong time just add an opaque channel. I use batch conversions with icons only, anyway. |

You have not read my question. I understand what you say, so please be a bit more zen. I ask you if the opaque alpha channel should be added only when converting INTO BLP. Converting for instance from BMP to TGA or JPG would not need the add of an opaque alpha channel. Don't answer me "I say ask", because if there is no need of adding an alpha channel when converting into something else than BLP, I prefer to avoid confirmations and unnecessary work. So, please tell me what you prefer : * the opaque alpha channel could be added ONLY when converting into BLP, confirmation demanded. * the opaque alpha channel could ALWAYS be added when converting from 24 bits to anything, confirmation demanded. |

Sorry about that, when I said batch converting I was refering to converting into BLP, I never use it the other way around. Converting from blp should always add an alpha channel (where applicable). Also it looks like the icons get flipped when I convert them from tga's with no alpha channel. |

Convertinf from BLP already adds always an alpha channel. The opaque alpha channel could be added ONLY when converting into BLP, confirmation demanded. |

Well, batch conversion simply doesn't work, when it has to add an alpha channel. I get a bunch of 0 size files. Now on the icons getting flipped? EDIT: To state it clearly: When a user asks to batch convert TGAs without alpha channels ASK wether he wants to IGNORE FILE, ADD ALPHA or ADD ALPHA TO ALL. |

OK, I'll add it as soon as possible. About the flipping problem : send me one of your TGA. |

Some of the tga's flip for me also. I don't remembernow which ones however, All I did was convert them to bmp then to blp. Paint shop doesn't always convert to a proper tga. I've noticed that this does not pertain too all skins. |

A new version of the Warcraft 3 viewer has been released : http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/s...threadid=18440 |

Can someone PLZ help me? Something strange is going on here... Everytime I open wc3viewer (any version, I tried older ones too) it is unable to show any model or skin (it just shows a white screen) and it takes only a while for the program to crash! I also tried other program (Biturn, pretty useless since it can't acces mpqs) and it happened almost the same thing!!! Any ideas on what might be going on?://// |

Do you know the Registry Editor ? Exit W3V. Launch it (Start menu, execute, type regedit and ok), then in the left panel, you go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TheProphet\MDX Viewer and still in the left panel, you delete the key "MDX Viewer". Launch W3V. Is it solved ? |

As I told you in a PM I just sent, nope... But I was wondering... Maybe it is some .DLL problem? Do you know which .dll's (apart from those you must have in the programs' file) your program uses? If so, I can search some replacement for them!:D |
| 02-29-2004, 03:41 PM | #268 |
I am fed up with always repeating the same things : the Warcraft 3 Viewer does not use any extern DLL of Warcraft 3 : no storm.dll, no ijl15.dll, nothing. All the needed DLLs are already in Windows. But, if you really want to know which DLLs it uses, here they are : advapi32.dll avifil32.dll comctl32.dll comdlg32.dll gdi32.dll glu32.dll kernel32.dll opengl32.dll shell32.dll user32.dll I was thinking about the same thing you say here : it is not a problem coming from the W3V, but from your system, or from your Graphic card drivers. Try reinstalling your graphic card drivers. I'll send you the needed translations ASAP. |

I really think this is a system problem. My graphic card is surely ok (as I said, the program was working 'till some days ago)... My Windows is kinda crappy, it needs a reinstallation, that's why I asked which dll's it uses. Luckily, my brother will reinstall it soon (the PC is his), and luckily MY PC will arrive soon too. :ggani: But for now, I'll see if those dll's are ok. :D EDIT: Hmmmm... They're all here... Maybe they're internally corrupted? Don't have the slightest idea on how to fix it... :( |

Gah, I'm also getting files with 0 bytes when converting them from .tga to .blp. I have an alpha channel on the file, everything *should* be saved right, but it's coming up as 0kb... And what a coinkydink, the models I'm trying to skin are for people at Kolibri's site... doesn't it figure. |
