Blizzard has announced the map contest winners !!!

Agreed, we Europeans get no chances in anything! We can't get the Beta (the legal way), nor do we have a change in any contest! Curse Blizzard for that!

And yes, many of the maps which got selected are crap! AfterShock, your's the best of them IMO!

LOL. Americans (U.S.) think that exists only one country, that's the US. Europeans know about europe and U.S.. There are other countries and continents too but i think you guys don't care to know if they exist or not...That's a very egoystical way of thinking... I can guarantee that someone living in Brazil has 80% less chance to get something than a european guy, and more than 100% than a north american one. I could complain more than you guys and i'm not. So just let those stupid close-minded blizzard americans with their shit of maps in their ***, and i hope they have a god time on it.
Sorry about this but i really had to say.

I am in US but I wish they would get other country maps, it would be cool to see others.

Also I didn't think they would accept a defense map but that one looks very well placed.

I'm not normally one to argue, but what seems close-minded KDE, is grouping all Americans together like that. But I understand that you were just venting after seeing what certainly look like crappy maps.

Personally I didn't mind any of the maps. They were different and somewhat unique in their layout, and seemed to exhume a certain type of balance even with the abstract and challenging gameplay they presented. I don't see what you're complaining about AfterShock, you won. Did you honestly expect them to leave all the non-beta creeps/terrain/doodads in? The map is meant for release of the expansion, there's no point in including a map that doesn't incorporate any of those features. Obviously I don't know what standards or prerequisites Blizzard may have had for their decision making process, but one of them would've obviously been compatibility with changes for FT.

I'll admit that my eyes bugged out a little when I noticed the defence map, but I haven't played it so I can't comment on its appropriateness. IMO, the Korea map looks funky. The map is balanced and it has an interesting theme. Frankly I don't understand all the Blizzard bashing going on. All I see above this post are "OMG BLIZZARD ARE TEHSUXOR!!! WHY DID THEY PUT THAT LAME MAP IN???!??!111oneoneone". Not only is it kinda childish, but it demeans all us map makers as a whole.

And one final issue which I've noticed being brought up in many forums is the fact that creeps are in the way of certain pathways. Honestly, if you're walking through a forest and come across a bear, do you expect the bear to see you coming and walk politely out of the way until you've passed? :P

I think the maps were pretty good. DaemonKillar wtf is that, that map looks like a piece of shit! Thats ****ing horrible! What kind of loser would make such a crappy thing! j/k.

Oh I wanted them to receive it so much that I mailed it(letter) and had it sent in priority :ggani: . Even if they mentioned "We will no be accepting submissions from outside US". I mailed it, Emailed it and sent it with the form they had.

Kharma: Well they did change some for FT, but I'd say it's only paradise islands that has received a new tileset. I played it on FT. It was very fun, but my god it was so ugly! The creeps are way too strong, the doodad textures look like they were taken using photographies and 50% of the doodads are invalid. But still most of the maps are very nice, the ones I really don't like are Wellspring and Korea.

Then again, the only thing that makes me mad is that I was not allowed to participate, even if I tried... hmmm.... I should've asked somebody from US to send it under my name for me ;D

Blizzard is the ultimate winner. They've got 11 maps added to TFT in a snap and had nothing to lose on their end.

I've read that the judges look for artistic themes and the like, in this case the Korean one struck me and having the most interesting layout and theme.

I'm sure many of you know that Korea is divided North and South, both sides are in a constant state of tension, being so close to each other geographically and yet seemingly so distant at the same time. The layout of that Korean map is spot on in capturing that essence, in my opinion.

I would guess that it is this that caught the judges' eyes.

notice how they picked a map of the korean flag. very american.... you arent paying very much attention. not all the maps are korean flags, but then again if it werent for americans we wouldnt have computers, internet, warcraft.....
