Ok I'm gonna tell very quick what to do. Use an MPQ extracting program to extract HumanAbilityStrings.txt and HumanAbilityFunc.txt (other races can be chosen aswell: UndeadAbilityFunc.txt, NightElfAbilityStrings, etc, etc). In (i use Human for example) HumanAbilityStrings.txt are located the descriptions of the spells. Ofcourse, you can change this. HumanAbilityFunc.txt contains the paths to the special effects and icons that are being used. You can change the special effects to whatever you like (use an MPQ viewer to see what special effects there are. They are .mdx files). You can also do this for icons. Now, when u've edited all this, you must put them back in the .w3m by using MPQ2k. A tutorial for this can be found on the net, maybe even wc3campaigns.com. If u wanna add your own icons, just name it exactly (not really needed) like the icons for the existing spell and put them in the .w3m. Use the War3 Image Extracter to change files from .blp --> .tga and vica versa. Hope this helps........maybe I have explained it a little wrong, ask the experts for the good explanation :D :p |

I want to warn you now before you put too much work into this map, currently custom mpq files put into the w3m does not work in multiplayer. A few seconds into the game, everyone gets desync errors and disconnects. I found this out the hard way and had to revamp my entire summoner system in my RPG. I tell you it was devastating and almost made me drop the entire project. Hopefully I was able to warn you in time. :( |

Could u try testing this map over bnet with mutliple ppl and see if this map works with the edited spells? |

If you test the map and it doesn't work try revealing the minimap in game and during loading and use the default campaign screen for loading. |

Guest | Sorry TO BUSRST everyone's bubles here. BUT no here seemed to notice that HE DID NOT change the actual mana costs, abilitie Functions, or damage. He merely changed the names, and icons.... Big whopty do.... Now if he had found out the correct way to Use "Game - Preload File: UnitAbilites.slk" we would have a different stories. I congradulate you for discovering the text, but who really cares about the icon? When you get chain lighting as the guard tower's main attack we will talk. =) |

And by the way, he did more than 'just' change the icons and tooltip texts; if you look reaaaaal close (or if anyone else could just kinda glance at it once and see it, you may need some more observation) you might see that he changed the graphics for the spells too, because I don't really remember Starfall originally being meteors. Or Death and Decay making flames. So to summerize, in case you were having some difficulty following me in that last paragraph (Seeing how I was using such advanced vocabulary as 'and' and 'the' and I'm not entirely sure you could comprehend it), here's everything in terms you can probably understand.
