Thats was some good reading. Sounds like you have a great idea at hand. Could use some more work but i think it's fine for a start. Looking to hear more.

Well, i'd love to hear some constructive criticism on the project, ie what you think could use some more work and such, what you think should be done next, so please, pm me or post here

Well, obviously no campaign is fun without a few sidequests, so this is my first idea for a major sidequest other than the typical- "My daughter has crabs, can you travel across the map to the wierd little goblin apothecary and buy her that special blue lotion?" type side quest.

Long ago when the northern tribes were still united they lived under a long line of leaders, the Imbrawul bloodline that brought the clans to great prosperity for years, establishing many of the settlements that are still inhabited by the clans to this very day.

Lozir Imbrawul was the seventh and last in the line of the imbrawulian leaders, and the tale of his tragic death is still told to all northern youths as a cautionary tale. (the specification of this story will be worked out later)

After Lozir's death, the heirloom of the Imbrawul bloodline was interned with the great hero. The great sword Wyrmbane (for which Yyuthrur's (the main good hero (P.S.- If you guys don't like the name it can be changed)clan is named) lies within the halls of the imbrawul, where the bloodline of the greatest leaders of the northern tribe are interred, between the jagged peaks of two of the highest mountains of the region.

Basically this side quest would involve paying very close attention to a little old man type standing around in the town who mumbles an awful lot about the halls being broken into by roving frost giants, and that he nearly died when he went to visit the tomb.

So, our hero has the option at this point of attempting to find the halls (he can find them without hearing this, but it will be much less likely). Upon entering the Halls, Yyuthrur finds that the guardians have all been slain and the entrance chambers have been torn apart, and upon venturing further in finds that the tomb of Lozir has been ransacked, and the great Wyrmbane sword is gone. The ghost of Lozir then rises from the remnants of its shattered sarcophagus and greets Yyuthrur, telling him that he has been watching him from the Halls in the sky and knows that he is worthy of wielding the sword that is his namesake, but first it must be recovered from the Giants.

So Yyuthrur must venture back out into the mountain passes and find these giants, kill the leader and take the sword back to the ghost of Lozir, who congratulates Yyuthrur and smiles at him warmly, then disapates into a stream of energy and enters into the blade of his mighty sword (which up to this point just looks like a normal sword)

Anyways, this is a very very preliminary outline of the sidequest, but i'd love to know what everyone thinks of it

on that map, could you color it and give it a legend (key) so i know what each color represents. Also the terrain size. The story sounds cool, though i didnt read the stories about the heros

if you could color that beast and give me ###x### and stuff that would be awesome

thanks :thrust:

Well, i have no idea what you mean by ###x###

But Here is the map

Basically the mountainous areas can still ahve trees on them, and the forested areas can still have foothills and the like. Generally the mountains should get bigger as you go to the north of the map, but all of the mountains should be quite big. Sorry i'm not being very specific at the moment, i'm a bit tired.

###x### means the map size (128x128, 192x192 etc) but i guess i coulda just said map size

also, for the snow, do you want alot of snow all over, lots in some places, or just make the whole mountain snowy?

Ill prolly get started on the map once i finish the first part of Tale of Dale (maybe another day or 2), and after i get that last bit of info.

EDIT: Ok, ill go with 192, and like i said get going in a few days.

BTW: do you have any item/weapon models like swords, axes, bows stuff like that? i posted it in datajax's request forum, but if someones already got him thatll save him 1 less request to do

If everyone active in this forum could go through and delete their useless or no longer relevant messages it would be greatly appreciated.

I could also do any cinematics you may need. Im working on my own movie series right now (its in my sig :ggani: ) so im in a movie making mood as of late.

And about those halls of, well i forget the name right now (its late) but do you want that to be a building that you can go into or, is that just going to be like a cave entrance or something thatll be used when you move onto the second map. Or is it an outside temple type deal?

are you making this like the rexxar campaign, where you can return to previous maps? I dont think its possible, and if it is, its probably some crazy long complicated JASS trigger.

or is that the last place you go on that map, so it would be like a normal campaign?

ideally it would be like the caves in rexxar's campaign where you could go back to the main map after you are done, but if you don't think that is possible for you to do, and we can't find someone to tell us how to do that jass script (since you're terraining it, i'd suggest posting in their forum?), then i spose you could just make a waygate and hide the halls area up where you cant get to it on the map otherwise?

I honestly dont think its possible to do, they have been trying to figure it out for like 3 months now and i dont think they did it yet.

An alternative could be that: You cant access the Halls until you finish all the story related missions on the first map. Then after you do you can enter. After you finish all the Halls missions, then you can go back. Then when you return, it could be the same map, but with new quests, monsters, etc.

That would be excellent, but it would take away the concept of this being an optional quest (and by optional quest, i mean one that most players wouldnt' even find because they'd have to be paying very close attention when in town.

Perhaps we should just change the Halls into an outdoor stone structure with no ceiling, and turn the tombs into cairns (piles of rock) instead, it would even fit better with the idea that the northern clans are a bit primitive. What do you think of this idea? i know it would save you a good deal of itme.

well i always could make the building on the same map, using archways and stuff, but only if the camera is 3rd person.

what is the camera angle on this game??

Same as rexxar's campaign for the single player levels, and then default wc3 for the rest (i think they are pretty close to the same if not the same anyways)
