It doesn't seem likely its probably one of those hardcoded limits. Also its odd the units move faster then 400 (I clocked a small race using patroling) and yet the leaderboard still says 400 even though they are moving faster. |

Guest | You know what, I just finished playing an RPing map, and it had a steam tank that I swear went way over 400 and 1000 speed! That is the fasted unit I have ever seen. But the thing is, Its speed was considered very slow , in red lettering too, which usually indicates a buff or aura ia affecting it. The only abilities it had on though was cargo holding and Kaboom. |

Post the map, we can see what was done to the steam tank And even blizzard made the mistake of not looking at their artificial speed cap, take a look at the level 3 owls, blizzard set them to 450 speed, they can't move faster than 400. |

Hmm...yeah, it could be the displayed value just never exceeds 400... but I tried using 6 boots of speed and ghoul frenzy and actually testing two units racing each other, and they went same speed :/ |

Guest | hmm do units really travel faster than 400? ive tried racing a slowpoke with 2 auras (so its end result is 400) vs a ghoul on frenzy and initial 400 speed.. and they were the same speed.... |

Anyone considered writing up a standard test map for testing speed? Better than just subjective comparison. If there is not one yet I can write up one tomorrow. |

Good idea wakeman, do that :) |

I'll start working on it when I'm back home. Probably won't take too long. |

Here is the Unit speed tester map. Actually the speed stated by the game correlate well with the calculated speed. I tested a bit and it confirmed that the max speed using normal methods is about 400. Just edit the map to test whatever units and triggers you like. Hope someone can find a way to overcome the 400 speed limit! :D |

Guest | Better toss in my 2 cents. Potions of speed do add onto the hero speed. 12 secs no pot, 10 with if I remember right in my little timed test. Another way around it is to shrink the size of the unit and zoom the camera in. I don't think going much over 400-500 is possible, probably best too as a lot of lag might develop. Just a guess, prolly wrong with that tho. |

Interesting idea! Shrink the size of all the units to half and adjust the camera distance, so it will look like they all run 100% faster in the game! You may have to change the amination speed too. Someone may find this useful in their map! |

Yeah, shrinking with unit size was an idea too. That won't work in all cases though, seeing as everything would have to be proportional to keep it looking right in a map that would otherwise have no ultra fast units save for a single missile or something. |

Yeah even if you change the unit sizes, the terrain is still just as big. While making a tiny terrain solves this problem in many cases, it would be impossible to make a tiny hill for example, because cliffs still raise as high and such and doodads such as trees can't be made to small either. Some doodads can be shrunk a little bit but not too much. |

Guest | just keep in mind that area of effect spells become awesome with small units. Blizzard = better starfall. hehe. |

Guest | What if someone had an earlier version of the Editor (ie: before 1.01) Because my max speed can go to 1000. If I edited it then would it be 1000 for everyone else or not? When they played it. |
