This is a serious project, btw for all the thinkers when I can get forum boards hosted here (i dont know how) we will start thinking about upgrades and plots to the bonus campaign.

after some thought I realize some of you may be translating my ideas wrong so i'm going to try and clarify them.

red - something I dont like in warcraft 3
blue - the sloution

Warcraft 3 right now appears to be a skill game, not a strategy game

I would make it a strategy game, need more info next question and answer.

Skill game - one dominant strategy (in this case for each race) the winner can acheive the strategy first.

strategy - several strategies (in this case for each race) in which the winner has the best strategy - taking advatage of situations - and uses it most effectivley.


I prefer strategy

and finally for today

currently the best man (or women) doesnt win in a multi player game on b.net becuase of numbers

my chages would make it more reasonable to have army 'regiments' so that the person with the bset startegy can do hit and runs (or whatever their strat. calls for) and literally win a 4v1

I may add more if it comes to mind I hope this clears it up.

I have some new info for thinkers and a name for the project so first the name: Warcraft III "Tides Of Blood"

Thinker Info:

I have basic campaign plots so start thinking up original maps as well as maps that help players learn new abilities that we have for them, such as maps based around formations as we will implement new formations and maps based around tech trees.

Human
During the second war a group of humans fearing the worst would come, annihilation from Orcs, fled the continent to a southern continent known as Tamiho, it was frozen wasteland and their the developed their technologies with help of the natives the halflings, and learned new spells and abilities from other natives the Ice Elves. All the while keeping in contact with their brethren, now there has been no response for nearly a year and an expedition by the royal army has been formed with the soul purpose of finding out what happened.

Orc
While expanding their land the Orcs have run into a problem,centaurs, the centaurs have formed an army and fight the orcs savagely

Night Elf
RPG Style Kalethorn a night elf ranger tries to solve a string of mysterious deaths among his people. could the burning legion still have some forces in kalimdor?

Undead
The undead clash with the humans that came back from Tamiho.

I will post the ghoul tech tree later, it will be an example of the tech trees used, every unit will get one.

Good ideas, but would you want a tutorial map for each race to learn about the new stuff? Or do you plan to jump straight into it?

Personally, and don't take this the wrong way I agree with you and like your general ideas, I'm not a fan of your campaign ideas and I think Tides Of Blood is turning into a bit of a wc3.... how to say it?.... cheesy cliché. The campaigns feel like thier gonna have a story line with the same power as RoK...

In particular, your idea tp hae many different upgrades (at least thats the vibe I'm getting) for each unit spunds alot like AoE (good thing) and I'm all for thatt.

I could help you with mapping, some skinning (intermediate - not just simple recolours and stuff like that but nothing breath taking either), thinking, I can do any "JASS" or trigger driven spells you need, all your upgrades.... in fact everything you might need except modelling (which I may try to learn soon as well).

However, I try not to try and get attachted to projects that aren't going to get done within a reasonable time limit (oine f the reasons why I tend to work VERY hard at getting my work done as fast as possible with as much quality as necessary). Are you confident you could pull this together?

If enough people join I will give so much info to them all that if I quit you could easily finish the project yourselves, though im the main designer for the project it doesnt mean someone else cant, which makes it a long but fairly easy project. I will post the ghoul tree I dont have time now and probally wont be able to post for a few days but that doesnt mean Its falling apart, right now I need a few modelers but thats it becuase I have iconners, thinkers, and spell/upgrade makers. as for the campaigns they raent the main focus, but the reason for thinkers is to make the plots not really design the tech tree so they can work on that, (if you have an Idea for the tech tree I wont shoot it down though).

Now its time to post the ghoul tech tree, this is important because it sets the standards for how I will base all the other units tech trees, and if you help it will set precedent and structure for them. The tech tree consists of three main objective trees:

Attack-At first this may sound weird, you might say "there are already upgrades for attack" I know that these upgrades (mainly passive) help improve a ghouls overall attack structure through abilities like Hatred and Lust you can increase attack speed and have dmg. done in other ways which may still be in effect shortly after the ghoul dies or gets stronger the more dmg. a ghoul can do.

Defense-As with attack defense is a tree of speed, improved miss and defense upgrades that are passive and make your units harder to kill, but this is different than the attack tree though you may do both.

Abilities-This combines many abilities most you have to click and use so they are "active abilities" these abilities use racial differences to advantages and increase numerous things, as well almost every unit will get a siege like attack ability here the reason being explained later.

Attack
NOTE:First number in parentheses represents tech order and the second can be paired up with another to uncover hidden upgrades

Everlasting Zeal (1)(3)
increase ghoul attack and speed

Hatred + Lust (2)(nil)

increased attack speed

Claw of Doom (3)(1)

15% chance to do 50% more dmg. on each attack

Rot + Destruction (4)(nil)

When ghoul attacks it infects defending creature and deals 100 dmg. over 50 seconds. once a creature has been infected it cant be again.

Skeleton Servant (5)(nil)

when a ghoul attacks there is a 20% chance that if the ghoul kills the monster it will revive as a skeleton and remain for a period of time.

Defense
Bone Armor (1)(nil)

increases ghoul defense

Light feet (2)(nil)

10%% chance attack monster will miss ghoul

Dodge + Block (1)(2)

increase defense and chance attack of opposing monster will miss (5%)

Leech (4)(nil)

return 10% of attack opposing monster's atk. dmg. to heal in HP

Bone Shards (5)(1)

return 15% of dmg. back to attacker.

Abilities
Body Throw (1)(nil)

Ghoul picks up a dead body and throws it to do +200 dmg to attack for that attack.

Body Shield (2)(nil)

Ghoul picks up a dead body and gains 100 temp. HP, after the 100 temp. HP is gone it doesn't come back

Leap Frog (3)(2)

click on a friendly unit and an enemy building the ghoul will launch itself and do double its attack as siege dmg.

Consume (4)(3)

Eat a friendly base unit (footman,grunt,archer,ghoul) and heal HP equal to the eaten units total HP

Special

if both (1) are learned:
Over Kill

15% chance to do double dmg.

if both (2) are learned:
Ghoul Air

Ghouls cannot be attacked while performing leap frog(passive), and are invulnerable for 5 seconds if this ability is clicked


if both (3) are learned:
Unholy Zeal

eat a friendly base unit and gain 2% of its HP as an attack bonus for 60 seconds

along with all this you may at the main building "skip" abilities by selecting the one you want and paying 50% more for it, as well you must meet all perquisites and it takes 20% longer to learn but this is great for totally customizing an army.

I hope you like, post replies it may need to be balanced im not perfect.

casters would have a difrent structure probally but it would still be three and about the same numbers in each one, but imagine the spell possibilities., all the more reason to join, no problem with a thinker and if your a noob i'll still accept you can learn from experts that join and be more useful in later projects, im dedicated to this, and even if I cant always be on i want to make it.

The humans send one of their main leaders(maybe a new hero) and a bunch of scouts on the expedition. The group discover that the undead army are planning to attack the main camp hoping that they can capture and convert this main leader. That they would make the leader go back to the human kingdom\main city to try and lead Jaina Proudmoore into an ambush to kill her. Without a leader the humans would eventually fall.

So the group send a blademaster type general with wind walk and stuff to get around the army that is heading towards the main camp. Once he gets there he would warn them about the plot. The group would then have to avoid capture long enough to get back to Jaina. To help the group the main camp could have a mission where they had to destroy all sacrificial pits using ice elf units that would be a bit like dark templar in the way that they would be invisible and deadly. The Orcs under the order of Thrall would stop their raids to join the humans.

This aint all of it but tell me what you think.
And please dont all jump to flame me at once.:D
