They may have realized what they did and uploaded a fixed patch w/o notification. I'm having no problems and don't have the file.

That would explain why they were deleting posts; they slipped up and tried to get rid of it w/o anyone noticing.

I'm fairly sure it was intentional. Knowing blizzard - They'll be happy that they can lock out people who refuse to pay, Even if it means Ruining a lot more for all the people who did.....

But then again, blizzard is a company, so i cant say i didn't expect it.

Blizzards respone? It's going to be a 'What they don't know wont hurt them' and dont rely on any 'Support' rather than the 'Reinstall Windows, And get used to this new software, Because were going to make sure it sticks'

Knowing that blizzard would do this makes me qeustion whether i want to even touch world of warcraft or it's beta.

If Blizzard doesn't respond soon, I'm finished with them. Screw Warcraft III, it isn't worth having an unknown file doing god-knows-what to my computer.

More on this retarded file!

If you check your event viewer under system it seems when you start warIII if you have or don't have a burner it'll start an Imapi cd burning process to I'm guessing a virtual drive. This is probably how the emulator is found to exist. I'm going to play around with the admin tools to try to make sure this file can not run on my comp.

Also it adds quite a heafty amount of memory usage to run this virtual imapi drive atleast 20 megs extra memory.

Well I'm glad at least Trogdor has some sense. Seriously people, are you reading what your typing before pressing the reply button? They did not try to secretly upload another patch update to repair the problem. They are not trying to deliberately destroy the computers of ligitimate buyers. They are not voiding any legal contracts by installing this device driver without prior notification. This is an update of securom, it isn't new. These security measures go way back even to Diablo 2, with dll files being installed into your windows\system32 directory. Not only that, but contrary to whatever naive thoughts people seem to have concocted, Warcraft 3 is not the only game to install security drivers without specifically saying "OMG HELLO WE HAVE INSTALLED TEH DRIVARS!" So if you're going to sue them, you might as well sue every other gaming company you've purchased a product from.

Geeze, have a little faith. People are too quick to judge, I'm reminded of the saying 'guilty until proven innocent'. Hell I certainly wouldn't want you people in the Jury box.

Ok, i had no idea about that. Of course the way i was reading it was that blizzard put something the would eat memory and i sought it to be what was causing issues in other games (Max payne 2) But The fact blizzard does refuse to reply to threads about the issue (Instead just deleting them) makes me qeustion whether it had a slightly more malicous intent or not.

Actually from what I've seen, the only posts that have been deleted on the Battle.net forums so far are the ones that give out sensitive information such as registry keys and data structures. These are obviously things that Blizzard do not want spread around willy-nilly. Not only that, but if some guy follows the advice and screws up their computer, who do you think they'll blame? Also I suggest you guys read this:

Oh, i see...

The patch is intended to make some games run slows, like the Max Payne 2 game someone mentioned, so that you stop playinmg those games and play Warcraft 3. However, Blizzard doesn't realize that this thing is making other games run slower (or do they?).

Also, you said that it will only effect Windows XP and 2000 users correct?
Glad to be using ME.

P.S. Will this patch have the last 2 acts of the Bonus campaign?

EDIT: One more problem. Blizzard will eventually make it so that you have to have the patch to play on Battle.net. So, everyone here will have to DL it in order to continue to play online. One way or another, Blizzard will pin this on our computers.
