Guest | Will i need excel to use the spell editor |
| 11-20-2002, 09:07 PM | #17 |
No Excel is needed. It's just a simple dialog box application... The version that is going to come out tomorrow is only going to be able to edit, not add new spells, so it will only be able to work with the SLK. -Fredric |

Guest | Someone explain the differnce between slk and mdx again |
| 11-20-2002, 09:42 PM | #19 |
The slk files contain information about how the game is implemented, while the mdx files are merely 3D models + animations. =) -Fredric |

dont get me wrong on this, but i dont think its kinda usefull with only changing existing spells? i mean, the hardest part is making new spells :) changing variables in the file itself is easy :P anyway, continue the good job, and iam waiting for the full version 8) :D 8) :D |

Can you change upgrades in the program? |
| 11-20-2002, 11:33 PM | #22 |
Ya, it's a beta version, I just started working on this last week (I think..?). You'll have to wait for adding spells at least 4 or 5 days... Sorry. :S -Fredric |

wiebbe, we can't add 100% new spells. It's hard coded whitin the exe. As you said, w can eddit some vars. The purpose of this editor is to help ppl to change those vars without trouble, not create 100% new spells. I doubt we will have a way to create 100% new spells till someone with good knowledge of ASM creates something like "StarGraft" . |

Guest | is this battle.net compatiable? |
| 11-21-2002, 03:24 AM | #26 |
It should be battlenet compliant, seeing as to how it modifies the 1.04 mpq_patch's slk. =) -Fredric |
| 11-21-2002, 03:27 AM | #27 |
So how does it work does it extract a fresh copy of your MPQPATCHs SLK or do you each time have to tell it to edit the (meaning extract first ung what a pain) SLK? |
| 11-21-2002, 04:16 AM | #28 |
It will extract the slk from the patch, modify it, and then save it back to the patch... Of course, there'll be a 'reset' button that will reset your patch with the original slk... Of course, knowing you guys, that will never happen. ;) -Fredric |

So it saves it into the war3patch.mpq file or is the patch your talking about something different. I dont wanna put it straight back into my .mpq since i dont wanna take chances with things like that (dont wanna not be able to get on bnet). Are we gonna have to extract it from something after saving it? Will it make our heads hurt with complexity? Does it change the .txt files too? Am i asking to many questions? And i hope it gets out of beta within a month, cuz zepirs had his editor for some time now, and it still doesnt work to full possiblity or what was expected of it. Hope its out soon, since its thursday here in colorado now. |
