Guest | If Tolkien were alive today, he would curse us for desicrating his noble work. He would tear down the movie posters, rip up the 'sequels' to his books, and create a general ruckus. If you asked me, I think all of this publicity is stupid. The literary works were epic, yes, but the scaled-down, big screen rip-off of the greatest fantasy story ever told, never should have been made. If a person is too lazy to actually take the book out and read, than they should be denied the pleasure of experiencing the wonders. There is a reason the television is sometimes referred to as the 'idiot box'. I, for one say :gfu: to the Tolkien decendants for selling out this unprecedentend, and limitless adventure. HOWEVER! I agree that all yankees can :gfu: themselves. BTW I just finished watchin The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and I'm off to play the comptuer game. How did you guys like the 2nd movie? I thought it rocked @ss. |

Which is why I try to base my work on Tolkien's exclusively as much as possible. For example, for this map I referenced: http://tolkien.ru/texts/eng/pbjrrt/26.html In any case, yeah, the movies (in and of themselves) were awesome. Just not Tolkien. Thanks for your comments. Refreshing to find someone who thinks as I do regarding the idiotic media frenzy that is practically desecrating the good Professor's legacy. Care. |

Guest | :infth: thats a grand pic! shows just how diffrent the movies are... the movies are awsome, but are very diffrent.... i read all the lotr books many times over!:D and i can only say that this map is good enough for the tolkien name (unlike those crap maps currently out there). |

Guest | just awesome! but dont forget to protect every mapfile with that terrain, cause people WILL steal it for sure |

I agree with Sumudude. The current Helm's Deep maps are the most boring and stupid game I've seen. Terrain sucks so much its not funny, while the gameplay is even worse. Now, we might have a bingo! This map might show 'em all! |

Guest | i was looking at the screen shots some more and i have 2 questions! 1) Is that gate below the bridge? And if it is how did you do that? 2) How did you make those ramp witch go to the castle? |
| 01-19-2003, 03:52 PM | #37 |
Well, it wasn't a cliff, that's for sure. I think he manually used Apply Height to straighten the ramp. It has to be exact... and it is very hard to do. |

Guest | I placed a dungeon gate doodad beneath each side of the bridge to simulate a "grate" type effect. You just place them out some and then CTRL+keypad them into position. As for the ramps yes, they were done manually, but with the plateau tool. The plateau tool is awesome, and probably way underused by a lot of mappers. Thank you so much for the comments. Take care. |

Excellent terrain! Quote:
How exactly do you do this? |
| 01-20-2003, 08:49 PM | #40 |
yeah. i had a post asking same thing but only got stuff like triggers to let u paint pathing under a ramp |
| 01-21-2003, 05:23 AM | #41 |
Guest | Zepir's map editing program allows me to do the custom pathing. It's quite awesome. None of my maps would be the same without it! Care. |

Awsome map! but isnt the the hill walkway curved? If you could pull that off we would all love you! But Ebert and Roeper give it: :D :D |

Guest | Not in Tolkien's rendition: http://tolkien.ru/texts/eng/pbjrrt/26.html That was supposedly drawn by the Professor himself, and is what I used as a reference. Care. |

Let's start the international orginisation of: :gfu: all yankees! j/k :D As for the terrain, heaven, you already know what I think of it; that it's marvellous and that you don't spend enough time with those wife and kids you keep going on about :P One thing though: Make the walls just one line, not []_[]_[]_[], but ____ if you see what I mean, and then use doodads for the []'s. That way archers and stuff will stand *behind* the defensive thingies ([]8)[]_[]emote_sweat[]_[]_[]:gsmile:[] only those are orcs :P) |
