Guest | The MDX files are in the MPQ archives. You need MPQ view or something like it to extract them. |

Guest | Just wondering if anything is wrong with the import script file. It may be something on my side, but here's what is happening. When I download it and go to extract it, it shows that it is 0% compressed and when I open it with a text editor, it shows up as a binary type file(gobley gook chars). Could someone help me out? Thanks. |

Don't know if it works with max 5, I heard they were implementing backwards capabilities but I'm not sure. As for the file being full of gobbley gook chars, that's because it uses max's encryption. This is just until I finish the script and make it neat and legible. Should be able to download gmax from http://www.discreet.com, they're the same people that make 3ds max, it's just gmax is free afaik. |

This works with Max 5 for those that want to know :) I just wanted to ask a question though, when manipulating any vertex or polygon it moves the selected piece as if it were not part of the model, but a seperate object. Normally when editing a mesh through vertex or polygon the lines joing to said selection are stretched and stay connected to it, but when I am editing war 3 models using this script the selection moves indepentantly from the rest of the model. Is this supposed to happen? Or it is a bug with Max 5? |

Gibberish: Try crop selecting the vertex. As for the faces, some of them aren't connected to the surrounding mesh. Give the footman model a try and see if you can move faces and verts on the chest, if you can get a screenshot that would help as well (assuming the problem isn't fixed). Iceslushee: This is the wrong thread, you either want the mdx to obj thread or the mdx text editor one. |

Attached is the new maxscript. It allows the exporting of static models. Please read the readme provided. If you still have any questions post them and I'll try to answer. I'll update the readme when the next version comes out to cover any questions. |

This question is based of my n00bness with GMax, but how do you view the animations? All I see is a bunch of orbs flying around. It's really pretty and all, but not exactly what I'm looking for. :p |

MasterSlowPoke: I don't know about gmax but in 3ds max there's a track along the bottom, like a ruler. If you move the controller there you should see different frames and if you press the play button to the right it should play through the animation. DaishiOfDeath: When it's finished. I've got the texturing to look perfect so I might post a screenshot of that. The size needs reducing and the texture needs work. Plus I need to get the wheels moving. Markus3832: I'd help you but you've told me almost nothing about the problem. Give me details: what were you trying to import/export, what did the error message say? |

Import errors: "Unidentifyed mesh" "Misses a-" "Couldent import floatings" Export: "Mesh has no TVFaces" "Cant write v-" I have no idea of anything.... not all meshes have all the errors... they have different.... |

That's what I'm doing. I tried the UndeadArthas model, and it looked like he imploded and his parts grew to large sizes and started floating around in a seamingly random fasion. |

COOLer: There's a readme file with it. Also read through this thread. If there's something that should be in the readme file, but isn't, tell me and I'll put it in for the next update. If you can't find the answers in either place then post and ask for specific instructions. Once it's completely finished I may write a tut but don't count on it. Markus3832: For the import errors what were you trying to import and what version of 3ds max do you have? "Mesh has no TVFaces" - You need to unwrap or at least map before exporting "Cant write v-" - More info? Give details on what you were importing/exporting, what options were selected, even a screenshot. MasterSlowPoke: Try importing with the rotation box unchecked. |
