"It just doesn't make sense," Siroff muttered to the goblin. "Against all odds, we've come out of this fight with superior numbers. There can't be more than a score of undead down there charging blindly at us. They'll get cut to ribbons."

Gazz shrugged. "Well, nobody said ghouls were intelligent, and we did kill the head boss."

"But then, shouldn't they be more passive?"

"Ah, Siroff, you sound looney in the head, there. Para-something."

Sighing, Siroff explained, "Paranoid? Maybe, but I really think that there's something fishy about this . . ."

"What? You think the attack is a diversion?"

Siroff blinked suddenly, then cursed his stupidity. "I do now," he groaned, and turned around to see his worst fears made real.

In some odd sort of irony, the head of the storm was no ghoul, but an elf. Methias was running with full ranger speed, using his knowledge of what little undergrowth there was to put more distance between himself and the hordes behind him. His cloak was gone, his face covered in grit. His hand clutched the family bow with an iron grip, and at random intervals he stopped to fire a few arrows into the creature brazen enough to get to close.

Behind him, was death.

Another full host of the Scourge charged forth, in numbers too large to count, but certainly large enough to put an end to the mottley army of Raignaton. Ghouls scampered around the massive hulks of the abominations. The sky held packs of gargoyles for viewing, as well as not one, but two frost wyrms.

For a brief few seconds, Siroff stood there, stunned, as the ranger continued his blind run towards friendly lines. Then he started shouting at the surrounding forces to turn around, and fast - they only had a few minutes before this new enemy was upon them.

Thenaius! We've got major company on our flanks! Have a strike force deal with the undead up front, and get the rest of them turned around! Is there any chance you can portal us out of here?

Huh? What the -- HOLY LIGHT!!!

Yes, Thenaius, those. So?

Maybe with the help of the other spellcasters, but we're going to need more time. Fortunately, we've just met someone who's still fresh and swears to be great at these kind of parties.

Who?

Hello . . . Siroff, a new voice rasped in his ear, I will see what I can do with these interlopers. It is a shame that most are soulless, though; takes some of the fun out of it.

Um, right . . . Siroff turned his attention back to the troops around him. "Alright, gentlemen! We've got our best spellslingers working on a way out, but brace for combat in case of the worst!"

"You men!" A group looked at Keltherose.
"Get over here quickly, we're dealing with the diversionary force, lets go." They noded and ran to catch up with him. They hit the undead at full pace Kel lifted his scythe and in long, hard sweeping motions killed several at a time. The ghoule host was shooting fire balls into the mass of muscle running around chaotically.

There was a blast from behind the crowd and a large chunk of blue ice was lodged in the enslaved Ghoul's skull, it dropped and there were screams of "I've failed you" in Keltherose's head as it went down. He cut his way through the guards and whispered to his staff, he pulled out his book and it levitated in front of me. The scythe folded in and the mouth began to glow purple. The Liche made a face that was as close as it could go to screwing it's face up.

The undead mage fell to his knees as the large, multicoloured ethereal copy of himself floated into Kel's book.
'He was just a weakling, but it will make the rest considerably easy to destroy.' Kel though to himself.
"The rest of you pull back!!!" I can deal with the rest of them, after the fighter's had dispatched their enemies there was only about fifteen of the undead still in the area.

Kel continued to slash at the angry creatures but he would be held up for a fair bit longer.

OOC: There we go, I won't be here for a fair while, I have a christmas party, followed by another christmas party followed by a week of holidaying followed by a new years party..,Yep I can't wait. If that was too easy feel free to RP for this guy as he fights the undead diversionary force (don't do anything to crazy like get him killed).

Arching Blades
OOC: Hmm, let's get into action then! I see Night Archer is good at grammar... Glad to have you around. And Demi-god too... Anyways, let get on!

"Hello again, my dear... You could use my help this time, huh? I have a proposal..." Azshara's voice was in Firessa's head again. Slumping to the ground and ignoring her surroundings, she gripped her head tightly. She was trying to make the voice go away.
"What do you want again, Azshara?! I don't talk to dark beings!" Firessa replied. She got suddenly struck by a headache. This is too much to bare!
"You know it very well. Be mine and your friends are saved. If not, then..." Firessa's anger pumped higher. Flames ignited on the tip of her ears.
"I won't join you... I'll defend my friends!" Firessa said.
Azshara's voice boomed even louder in her head, making the headache get worse, "You will! But perhaps not now... You want another serpent?"
"Get out of my head!"
, Firessa screamed in her mind. Her head pounded and seemed ready to burst. She opened her eyes to see another strikeforce on the back of the team. Siroff had already spotted them and was giving orders to soldiers. Behind her, Kelthorose was ready to leap. Quickly thinking over what had happened, she realized that the strikeforce on the front might be just a diversion. Firessa ignored the pounding in her head and dispeled the firewall on the frontlines. Almost immediately after, the troops crossed the line where the firewall had been. It could have been their end if not for Firessa. At that moment, another voice entered her head.
"Firessa-"
"LEAVE ME ALONE!"
"Just wanted to tell you something but you might have other things to care about..."
Firessa closed her mind, desperately wanting to keep people's voices out. Then she realized that it was Thenaius calling her for something. She shrugged anxiousness off and weakly stood. The headache had cut her energy. She felt weak but nevertheless wanted to help in the battle. She felt she had to control the power she had supposedly gained. What she didn't realize was that the power could also control her...
The sounds of battle were sounded. Firessa held her katana, small fires on it, down. She was in cold sweat. She couldn't help but feel anxious for Karazai at the moment. But she shrugged this worry off as well as she readied her blade for another chaotic battle. The main flood of undead were only a few yards away. The troops Siroff had managed to gather awaited the crash wearily, swords and shields held high, lances thrust ahead. Firessa lunged at the nearest undead, cutting off the head neatly before going for the next one…
***
Karazai woke up in a dungeon-like room barred near the exit. There was only a small alleyway near the door. In the corner of the alleyway was a chair in which someone was sitting, head bowed as if asleep. She weakly stood, cloak sweeping on the floor. She noticed her weapons were striped from her. She only had her elven armor on. The weapons were all neatly set near the chair. She walked to the prison door, her armor clanking, as the guard woke up. He was totally in black. None of his features were shown except for the eyes. The eyes were clearly elven and they shone of a silvery red color. His black cloak made sure that Karazai could see any other feature in the semi-darkness of the dungeon. But in any case, Kar did not try to see any other feature. She was intrigued by the eyes alone. She had seen them before. She just could not place where. The stranger moved to the bars. In a soft neutral voice, he said, “You want to know why you are here, surely?
Kar could easily say he had trained himself hard to gain the neutral tone of his voice. But this made it difficult for her to distinguish his gender too though she was nearly sure he was a male. She nodded, uncertainty on her face.
“Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you.
“You already did, Karazai replied quietly. Her back was aching, particularly near her neck. It was surely the spot where he had hit to make her fall unconscious. The stranger seemed to be smiling as he pondered on his next move.

'The forest behind her was burning, she could hear the screams of her friends and the soldires she has fought beside for so long. As she ran, she was trying not to imagine the tortures they were going through just so she could get away. The elf stopped, she had heard somthing in the forest around her.
The mark on her sholder began burning. out of the forest ahead of her walked an extrordinaraly beutiful human woman, she was wearing next to nothing. "What ar you doing here?" the elf asked, "Follow me, I'll...". AAs she spoke, the woman in front of her changed into a demon. The area around them became as if every thing had dissapeared. the demoness spoke, her voice sounded seductive and repulsive at the same time, "You have eluded my servants far too long. you time of freedom will end, you will become my loyal servant, willingly or forcefuly.". Everything goes black, the elf hears a voice far away, "Mistress....mistress you must wake up." A hand grabs the elf by the arm and puls her limp body to the light.'
Cania wakes with a start, her heart feels as if someone is beating it like a drum. "Bless the gods your awake Cania, you were having another nightmare, this one worse than the others." Taelendra telapathicaly said to her. Cania covered her face withher hands. "I dont belive this one was a nightmare Tael, I think this one was sent to me by one of the most powerful of the demons." Cania replied "We will need to leave thease people again soon."
Cania picked herself up out of the bed she had been using, and started dressing. "You may want to tell Sophia and Eldina before we go." Tael said. " I'm not leaving yet Tael, im just going to go take a bath." With that she finnished dressing and put on her robe and walked out the flap to her tent. It was before dawn and the first light of the sun was just appearing over the horizon, so none of her soldires were awake yet. Cania gave the night watch a nod as she left the camp for her private spring.
When she arrived she found Sophia was also awake and in the spring. Sophia gave a start when she heared some one coming, but calmed down when she saw it was only Cania. "Cani you shouldn't sneak up on people like that, if you were one of the men I would have most likely attacked you with a fireball." Sophia said while Cania begaqn undressing, she made sure to keep her back facing away from Sophia and replyed, "I have no doupt that you would have Soph. By the way, what are you doing up so early?" Cania climed in the water as Sophia answered, "I couldnt sleep well. Keep in mind Cani that you are the only one who doesnt share her sleeping quarters with anyone, exept your bow of course..." Sophia's voice trailed off as Cania relaxed and the heat of the mark was ebing.
She herd a voice in her head say "Search for the one who can help you my child, the humans will send you to help her soon." Cania wanted to ask who was speaking to her, but she already knew. "Elune" is all she said, out loud i might add.
Sophia asked "What did you say?" and Cania replied, "Nothing, nevermind."
"Well, alright, but dont spend too long relaxing here Cania, we are expecting a visit from an Archmage today, so we will need time to prepare for his arrival."
And with that Sophia got out of the spring, dressed, and headed back to her tent to wake Eldina.
Cania spent a couple more minutes relaxing untill the burning in the mark on her sholder was gone, and left too to prepare for the archmage.

OCC: ive got chores to do, so ill finish this later, can you tyr not to finish that battle with the undead yet, thats when ill have her enter the story.

OCC: time to finish what i started.

Cania was patroling the outskirts of the encampment when she saw the archmage, and his escort coming over the nearby hill.
"I'm going to guess that that is the wizard that I am supposed to meet today Tael."
"I can sense that he is a magic user, so i beleive your guess is right"
"I should get back to camp before he arrives then"
Cania easily beats the archmage to the camp, and is ready to meet him along with Sophia and and Elinda. The three are standing near the armory tent when the archmage enters the camp.
"Sophia, Elinda, tell me again, what is this archmages name?" Cania wispers to the two wizards.
Elinda replies, "His name is Tagarth, and here is a warning, he is easily angered."
"most magic users are" Tael added
Tagarth rode up to the three weman, he looked at cania in a discusted way and asked, "I am looking for the commander of this Encampment, i beleive her name is Kariana. Could you show me to her?"
"I get the feeling he doesnt like elves Cania."
"My name is Cania Nightwind, I am the current leader of the soldiers stationed here"
"The elf is the leader here? That cant be be right." he said almost angrily
"That is right sir, she is our current leader by the soldires choice, she is the one we have given the higest rank in this compound." Sophia answered
"Fine then, ill just do what i was sent here to do then leave." Tagarth said, "Cania, you are to choose 11 of you best soldiers, and me and your Wizards will tramsport them to the area where another elf who is in command of the troops currently fighting the undead. you are to meet up with her forces and help her."
"Sir, that will be the majority of the forces here that will be leaving, should we send that many, sir?" Elinda asks
"The rest of you will come with me to the nearest town. You will wait there until you are given new orders. Is there a problem with that?" he said, and looked strait at Elinda
"No sir" and she averted her eyes.
"Good. Now Elf, you will choose the soldires you will be taking, and meet me and the wizards outside the encampment in the morning. Do you understand elf?" with that he looked at Cania, and she just stared back.
"Yes i do, we will meet you there."
"Good" He sounded a little disapointed.
"I think he wanted to try and intimadate you."
And with that Cania went back out on patrol.

The next morning, Cania, 4 knights, 4 footmen, and 3 elven archers left the camp to meet the archmage in a clearing he had chosen. Sophia, and Elinda were with him, finishin the preparations for the spell.
"Elf, you and the soldiers will stand inside the circle, and wait for us to complete the casting."
There was a circle drawn on the ground with what looked like dust. Cania and her soldires stepped into it. Sophia and Elinda came over to sy their farwells to Cania and went over to the edge of the clearing.
"Begin casting the spell when you are ready Tagarth."
The wizzard looked at Cania angrily, but began the spell. after a couple moments the spell was complete and the woods around the soldires disappeared.
They reappeared in another forest. they could also hear the sounds of battle nearby.
"Alright men, fan out and stay in the cover of the woods until I give the signal. Archers stay in the woods and fire at our enemies. You got that?"
All her troops nodded and began moving twoard the sounds of battle.

OCC: I plan on having Cania join in by her burning an abbomination that somhow was able to get behind Firessa with her bow, I would like to have Arching Blades continue the story from where i stop and you guys setting the battle up for Canias entrance. Is that alright?

Ive been on so late every night because ive been playing Star Ocean alot.

I forgot to add something earlier. The amulet that Cania wears has within it extrordinary power, but she does not know it. Cania can only use the most basic of the amulets abilities, a speed Enchantment, and a magic aura detection ability (ony usable when she grasps the amulet in her hand). The amulet is the reason the demons are after her (it has more power than their strongest sorcerers, but not their queen, it has the same amount of power that she does). The mark on Cania's sholder has trace emissions of demon power coming from it, very few can acually sense it.

I'm kind of wondering where everyone went, myself. But, after all, it was Winter Vacation.

Siroff offered a weak grin at the troops around him, trying to be reassuring. Inside, his stomach performed amazing feats of acrobatics that left him in a vertigo. There's too many. If the mages fail, no one's walking out of this alive.

Still, he could do his best to make sure less of them walked out undead. Gripping his sword, he let out a battle cry and charged at the first pack of ghouls to reach his side of the defensive line. He heard shouts behind him - the soldiers were following his charge, all across the battlefield.

Oh, yeah, I guess I am the leader now that I'm back from killing the Doom Knight. If only I had the chance to relish that.

He made a high sweep at the first ghoul to rush him, suddenly stopping and undercutting when the undead tried to block the first attack. He let the slash continue recklessly, slicing deeply into the next ghoul over, then turns it into a spin, granting him some breathing room as the other beasts jumped back. His random dance continued, stopping at odd times to turn like some twisted waltz, leaving stinking corpses in its wake. At one point, he had to stop himself before he almost cut the head off an orc warrior, hurriedly reversing the thrust and putting more strain on his elbow than he would have liked.

The battle seemed to take forever, like a fog was settling over Siroff's body, slowing him down to lazy swings that cut down even slower opponents. Occasionally, he saw small groups of undead collapse suddenly, victims to Methias and the band of archers he had rallied. However, Siroff had to grimace when he found himself cutting down a zombie covered in the ineffective shafts. They were running out of time . . .

OOC: Ah, sorry for not being there. I didn't get any email notification until recently so I didn't get to reply to the story earlier. Sure, I could have answered NightArcher when he had posted her piece but I rely on mail notification for the threads I am to reply to… so…

The stranger unlocked the prison door, causing Karazai to step back to keep her distance. She wanted to get her answers now… and at any other time.
“Who are you? Karazai asked as soon as he turned to face her.
“I understand you are trained in unarmed battle? he said, paying no attention to what she said.
Kar nodded, eyes narrowing. “Who are you?
“I understand also that a close friend of yours recently died? The stranger asked.
Clenching fists, Kar glared at him. He would not pay attention to what she said. “Who are you?
The stranger narrowed his eyes, “Answer me…
Kar let a smirk creep onto her face, “Answer me first…
“No…
“Why so?
He sighed, “Because I can't let you know… But I need you for something.
“What is that?
“Be patient… I won't hurt you any further and if you comply, you won't need to be locked up… said the stranger.
He is being… kind? No, that's interest and only interest…
“Depends on your conditions… Karazai replied. She remained alert of any brusque action he would make as she standing against the wall, totally rigid.

Firessa received a headbutt from a ghoul. She stumbled backwards and knocked against a corpse, falling backwards, the flames of her body extinguished. The ghoul did not pause for a second. As soon as she fell, it jumped onto her, claws high up for a final strike. Embers came off as an arrow pushed hard again the arm, snapping it like a twig. Firessa seized the occasion for a mid-slash with her katana and knocked the ghoul off her.
Her retreat had caused a leak in the defense line. She needed to repair that. Firessa dashed into the fray once more, her rage matched by the ignition of the self immolation. The undead that had broken through could be killed by the archers. As she tried to push the cork into the bottle again, she realized the undead were pressing on the defective zone. She would not be able to repair the leak by simply cutting down the ghouls and fiends. Working on a quick spell, she held her hand forward. The fires of the self immolation gathered in her right hand, forming a small ball. Seconds later, Firessa said the final word of the spell and the ball exploded into a beam of fire. The undead were stunned by the heat. Some burnt down to ashes while others were just blown away. Firessa resumed her fighting position.
An arrow seared close above her head, killing the abomination before her. As the monster fell, ghouls instantly jumped onto it in their haste to draw blood. Her katana did a quick work Leaks had begun to occur in several places of the defense line. The soldiers were either being killed or knocked away. She ended her swing when the blade was deeply lodged into the monster and spun the blade up, cutting the ghoul down. She immediately turned to her left, her katana stopping inches from a knight's face before swinging down into another ghoul. Something else was on her right. She turned again. Claws pierced her left forearm and a headbutt landed into her stomach. She fell backwards, the claws ripping through the skin. She stood as fast as she could to avoid a repeat of the last time but the ghoul had turned to the soldier that was next to her. Shadows crept over her from behind. She could easily notice that. She spun, blade on fire because of the speed and magic. Her headache struck her hard. Her eyes unfocused and her movements slowed. The flames died down. A force knocked the blade out of her hands hard. She looked at the giant attacking her. As a reflex, she put her arms up, covering her head, as the heavy log came down.

OOC: Hope that's good enough for ya, NightArcher! ;)
