i fail to see how you are going to make the map save a hero and send a PM to the user when they leave the game i also fail to see how you are going to store a hero in another map, cache's do not work on bnet... and the PW to save the hero would be about 19 chars long to store 6 hero stats, exp, level, gold, and all 6 items. |

The PM isn't hard just make a trigger where it writes the pm code on bnet + player name |

ok i never heard of making a trigger to send a PM to a player, im courious, what do you mean by "just make a trigger where it writes the pm code on bnet + player name" if you mean just display text /w name message that doesnt work.... that just displays that on the screen while in game |
| 06-10-2003, 03:03 PM | #34 |
i can make that PM thing, thats why i said that. and the thing with storing, im not sure |

im courious about the sending a PM via a trigger... care to explain? |
| 06-10-2003, 03:28 PM | #36 |
Ya i've never seen that happen before either Dakan... emote_confused |

yea im not calling him a liar, but in bnet everybody is the host technally, so even if you were able to send a whisper via trigger, who does it come from... also i dont think blizzard would want that, for it wouldnt be to hard for somebody to make a timed trigger just to flood with whispers... |
| 06-12-2003, 01:43 PM | #38 |
im not a lier. The pm comes from you of course, you send to you There are 2 possible way: the first is to let the map force you to press the keys: enter(for chat) then keys for whisper command-/w <yourname> code I havent tested the other, but i have seen it in a campaign. And that not a game message. |

right ok i see what you are saying about the using Game - Force UI Key. that means if somebody exits the game, you would pick somebody that is in the map, and have them whisper the name of the exiting player. So say player 5 leaves, you would write a trigger to make player1 whisper player5 thats fine and all, but it wouldnt happen if only player1 was left and he left the game. wouldnt it just be much easier to have "save" spots in town, and when you save your hero (to prevent dupeing of items and whatnot) the hero is removed from the game and the player is forced to quit or something. and just use the single text display to a player to show them the code.. because, what happens if the person doesnt quit back to chat, and just exits the game directly, he doesnt get the code. |
| 06-14-2003, 08:32 AM | #40 |
i can pick a computer player and say that:) |
| 06-14-2003, 08:37 AM | #41 |
its his problem if he quit the game and dont get code. its like if he dont wanna go to the spot and dont get the code the chat is like the spot for a code |
| 06-15-2003, 03:07 PM | #42 |
Well could you show us this by any chance to prove that you acatually can? |
| 06-15-2003, 04:27 PM | #43 |
i can see what he means by using the Game force UI key. but i do not see how he can make a PC (AI only) send a PM because it does not have a account, you cannot force the computer to push enter, then /w accountname message. However you probably could do that to a player. although this method is still very shady because if the person alt f4's or just exits game, or drops to time out, they never get the code. and the last person to leave the game cannot receive the code either |

ok the spot thing and my method is the same. If he get dropped by time out or press alt+f4 then its the same. because u cant save(using spot) if the person get disconnect or drop. How can a person go to the spot when they are disconnected? |
| 06-16-2003, 01:37 PM | #45 |
i never said they could |
