A map relying on more than 2 pages of information (like altogether, if all the text is placed together) is too complex. Who would read for 10 minutes before playing? |

Things that horrify me about testing maps on b.Net: 1) getting people into a game for a new map 2) chat room hostility (GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOG or newb host is ghey) 3) players who quit a new map because they made a fatal error as a result of NOT READING 2 LINES OF INGAME TEXT 4) players who whine about things being unbalanced when using only 15% of their troops potential 5) players that insist on giving advice TOTALLY UNRELATED to the map they are playing (ie, in a dungon map - "Make a big forest with places to ambush...and teleporters!) Sigh. But I have been getting some positive feedback as well. That makes my day! Hakujin |

Well, at least YOU CAN HOST! I have to stick with singleplayer maps 'cause I still can't host, even though 4 people was trying to help me. BTW, are you actually from Japan? |

Mech-Sheep: To actually play the game, the prerequisite is: 1: Not run your settlers into enemy territory and lose them without building a town first 2: Not run into one of the 3 rebel forts with settlers. 3: Follow the yellow-brick tooltips. I mean, you start with zero gold (thus nullifying military) and ~2000-3000 lumber (depending on how you spend as settlers), so you have to go with economy somewhat before you get a military. (military usually requires all gold, economy usually requires all lumber.) All it lets you build in the civilian/economic sector is a Town Forum, Hospital, and Resource Depot. Houses require Resource Depots. Commercial Buildings require Houses. .. Basically, unless someone haul off and build 40 hospitals for some insane reason, it is fairly self explanatory. To most people. Zoi: Lots of people have described it as Sim Earth, Civilization, Diplomacy, WW3, as well as other stuff. One person said the most fun part of the game was just building up an economy. (You can win by getting a big economy and trading with allies and enemies, too) -- Not only that, I have converted two people thus far that, at first, pulled the "YOU ARE GAY. I HATe YOU, AND THIS MAP. THIS MAP PREFERS OTHER MAPS OF THE SAME GENDER." Later, after they joined again or just found me later randomly, they loved it. But thats 2 gay proclaimers out of... hrm.. 15-20.. out of.. about 500 - 800 players. The others either don't make comments, say they love it, or in the case of about 100, say its the best map ever. HRm.. That sounded like an advertisement. However, my little group of friends on B.net and I have got the types of people that drop in mid-game set. Like a sixth sense.. If they are obnoxious, the SERIOUS 'GOGOGOGOGO' people.. And some others. The first round (0-2 people per game) happens in 10 minutes. Usually commentless. The second round is around 30 minutes, (0-2 more people per game) usually after being killed by another player (even if they had the chance to revive themselves using allies or anything..) |

Norbo, although your game is complex, some people doesn't like to "play more than once to learn" games. They want a straight deal, and if they require too long to learn, they just quit. I played your Norbo's War once, and it bankrupted me so fast, and I didn't even build anything yet. I also dislike games that has "build something and screws up the game" economy. I built a military and my income was -12 (but that won't be an income). Heh, I might fix up next time, but I don't think anyone is going to play it. I haven't seen another Norbo's War since you hosted it. BTW: I'm not simple, but I have no time for learning to play a complex map. If all maps were very complex, it just kills you, because you have to learn all those stuff. |

Because learning is so horrible |

Yar, version 2.6 is a lot more clear about military.. It basically tries to keep the player on track. And a large reason why people don't rehost the map, besides (formerly) requiring a massive amount of handholding, was due to me restricting it. I don't want to truly release this map until its perfect.. Of course, I do get messages from people I have never seen asking me about hosting it, so I do know it has been hosted.. just.. not very often. What version didja play, anyways? |

2.3... That was a long time ago with you in a game. |

There's very few things worse than obnoxious people saying stuff like "GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO" or "noob host GO" and all that good stuff. One of them being obnoxious people saying that when there's a full house, WHILE YOU'RE HOSTING A D\L ONLY GAME!!! ARG!!!!!! The whole idea of a D\L only game is so you can distribute your map, and so people can download your map. There's the newbs that stay in the game thinking that it will start, then there's the literate people who download the map and leave, and then there's the nice people that stay in the game just so everyone can download faster while telling everyone that s/he's hosting a game of the map. I usually host a d\l game in Europe around noon, US West or US East in the evening, and I leave my comp on in Asia while I'm sleeping. Every so often I check my comp to see how everything is going. I find that most of the "nice" people are from Europe and the newbs are on US East and West. Can't really say anything about Asia. I can't understand them 'cause I dont speak in clicks. =P |

Hehe bloodlust, you'll have to wait till 2.6 is done and 100% bug free. Even then I won't release it anywhere but a few games.. then I'll start on 2.7 once I get enough complaints about things I can't even think of yet. |

Guys, I learned the hard way that we need to keep the game simple... For example, i made a third person shooter with an aimer and third person. I even put instructions in the start of the game and in the briefing... what happened? N00b: Wtf is this N00b2: How do i ****ing attack Me: Press F1 to go into firing mode. Right Click to fire. N00b: That is so gay. Me: Whats so gay about it? N00b2: This is ****ing retarded N00b2 leaves Me: Ok, Get ready to Noob1: wtf i cant stop firing Me: Arrghh! SELECT THE DAMN MARINE N00b1: I can't select him Me: You CAN select him. N00b: oh... how do i fire Me: F1 - KEEP CLICKING TO KEEP FIRING - SELECT MARINE N00b: This is complicated Me: ... N00b: Why can't I fire anymore? And whats with that clicking noise? Me: You are outta ammo. Find an ammo box. N00b: what does an ammo box look like N00b leaves N00b leaves |
