Hey can we see more screenshots soon and more information on this game pleese.
[Edit:I don't see a need to put map protection on this because the reason for map protection is so that people won't take your stuff and put there name on it but with cotn people no you made cotn and you have announcements on it and such so people will know you made it and not some goof. Besides I only look at other people's maps to see how they did it and I always get mad when I find out it has map protection.]

The only reason for map protection is to stop n00bs from opening the map, rigging something, then going and playing a modded version. Thats the real reason.

When you download the map on bnet and it take about 10min even for cable user, you dont like to see that it an unofficial version with no change just because the guy opened and saved the map. I really hate this. Go Protection program!

It better to dont start another debate about protection here.

I don't know much about map protection, but I think that it would be really easy to make a rigged version. You don't have to use the map editor to rebalance a map and screw it up. Map protection should work to protect against newbs who are making their own rigged versions of the map.

I don't really see why the hell one should want to edit another persons map. The only reason would be to fix a serious bug that makes the map unplayable. But most of those who edit the maps just do things like edit the names of units.

Yes it is possable to edit a map to make a unit godly without using the map editor, but that would be a obvoius change to all players. There is no real way to make 1 player god while not touching the others players without opening the map and messing with triggers or something. Besides, the main point is just to stop people from opening the map in the editor, and that is what I will be doing.

You are right except that it is still possible to mess with the triggers. You don't need to open the map to edit the triggers. I have edited maps throught this method. Only for helping to debug a map for Darky. The map was unprotected but it is so much faster to just edit the script instead of waiting for WE to load it.

They are still there but in Jass form. Which will stop all nwebies from editing the triggers. But there is no way to stop people from editing the Jass file that I can think of. Warcraft must read it. And if you corrupt it the map will not load. The game might even crash.

And I think it is good if you protect the map. I don't know if i can unprotect a map but I believe that i can edit the triggers on a protected map. Never tried though.

Yes, althoguh you cannot totaly delete the triggers, what "noob" that wants to rig a map knows how to edit jass? not many (if any), and thats the whole point :) GUI triggers are gone for good (not like i use many anyway for designing the maps...

Exactlyk, that is why you want to use a map protector.

Go Protector! It'll make it easier to spread around B.Net, and preventing a Wintermaul. Remember what happened? In 7 hours, there was a modded version of Wintermaul TD. No there are nearly 40. Wintermaul was good, so a bunch of noobs reverted the tileset and changed the models, and now you don't even see the original Wintermaul anymore. I don't want that to happen. Last thing we need is a Heaven or a Yugi-oh RPG with changed models.
Then again, the noobs are so dumb they'll still have something like "Thanks for playing the CotN RPG!" in the end. :ggani:

Post more details! Now!
But I'm glad that we're finally getting a WC3C map on B.Net. We really need the popularity and publicity... but to be honest, I'd delete 95% of the members here cuz they have a 0 post count and don't have any posts...

Short fact about the map:

There will be 7 custom hero stats to allow you to customize your hero the way you want, along with the partial useage of the normal 3 wc3 stats. The custom stats are:

1. Attack Factor
2. Armor Factor
3. Hit Point Factor
4. Mana Point Factor
5. Speed Factor
6. HP Regen Factor
7. MP Regen Factor

The names are subject to change..... but its pretty simple to understand this way.

We are adding a new teleport system also. A non-perishable item with just a cooldown that you will either start with, earn as a quest, or buy (we have not desided how you will obtain this). When clicked to use. Your hero will auto go though the same steps as if you used a scroll of TP on a town hall, but no targeting the hall, its done automaticly. The major difference is it works only for you, no surrounding units. It is also a 2 way system. The spot you teleported from will be remembered, and you can teleport back to that spot when you are done with the town. Similar to the way things worked in diablo2

Needs a good map protector because now map un-protectors are rampant everywhere.

No map unprotector can restore GUI or Custom text triggers if i delete those files from the w3x file to be released, once i do that, they are gone for good, nothing can restore them ever.
