One problem I found is that you spelled 'swear' wrong in the last scene.
But other than that, good work. I think I liked the terrain and camera motion better in cotn, but the music and sound effects were truly grand.
Keep it up. I can't wait for part 2.:D

Lol, you're right. I usually don't make spelling mistakes. I will fix it in the final version :ggani:

Ah Draco, you only uploaded the map. (It came in zip, but who cares)

Heres the readme (attached) ...

Yeah so nobody get the idea that you can use the skins/models, etc... in your own maps.

So heres my review:

Terrain: Yea pretty good, not the best ive seen, the outdoors had an interesting use of the rock tilesets instead of grass, cant think of whether i like it or not.

Story: Seems alright, like DK said its an introduction so not much has been revealed. Dialoug is overall good but has a few moments when it sounds forced and unnatural. IMO try to avoid quick succesions of short sentences.

Cinematography: Battle scene was really cool, I suggest for the next part doing something like that, but on a much larger scale, im talking like 4 times what you had. A full blown siege or battle in the planes would just own (take a lot of work, but be worth it).
I could just image in far overhead shot or the close up of two opposing heroes fighting amidst the two armies....
Yea like DK try to make the camera movement smoother,

SFX/Music/Skins: Definantly the best part. The mage battle owned, almost as much as the undead bloodmage skin did. Having many multiple skins of characaters, even if there only minor changes from the original skin really make a map seem much better. I didnt notice sound much, but thats because I wasnt concentrating on it much, but the few things that did stand out (the music, spell voices and weapon hit sound) were good.

Overal very GJ, looking forward to the next part.

Amazing!

Don't worry DK, I'm still a fan of COTN :)

If it makes you feel better, someone as unknown and unimportant as myself still likes COTN :ggani:

I'll probably piss some people off, but here is what I think.
I didn't really like it. The specials were alright, but nothing to impressive. The storyline was very dull and didn't make me want to see the next part. I almost didn't finish watching it, except that I wanted to see this great battle everyone was talking about. Maybe the hype messed it up for me, but it didn't seem all that great either. The fades did get to me as someone did mention, seemed to be to many. I also didn't get the sense that this was some great battle as I was hoping it would give. I did notice a few custom skins, which were semi cool. Now, COTN began the cin maps, and this map had a few specials in it that were interesting, but I felt they didn't really push the cin genre like I was hoping it would. Also, the sound and music didn't really make me think, desperite intense battle like the Helms Deep battle of LOTR, if you get my drift.
Well, my 2 cents. Certainly you can't please everyone. I wish you luck in the future parts.

If I could I would make the battle have 10x orcs. But I want people with crappy comps (around 900 mhz like me) to be able it run it fairly well. Also the final version will be better. I will fix up some of the skins, perhaps get rid of the fades, add a few more units and stuff to the battle, etc...

Draco
ceb5503, perhaps you could show us how you would have this mini-genre's limits pushed. Make a map! :D

And sometimes too much hype is a bad thing...

You know... DK... I noticed something about your avatar since TTOA came out; Instead of an evil blink it looks more like its crying now :////

Draco, I certainly would, except I know I suck at everything but triggers. Plus, I hardly have time and I'm still trying to finish up my current project. Just as a comment though, if you make a map and someone says they don't like something and you can't handle it, then I would say, don't make maps. I didn't say I could do better, but I did say what I thought of the map. If people are scared to criticize and just want to follow the "Good job" post with more of the same, then I feel sorry for those. Of course, if you really thought it was good, then fine, but sometimes you find people who don't want to be on the other side.

That's a really high quality cinematic! I love it.
I don't like to compere something, so I won't say things like "it's better then COTN" or "it's worse the COTN".
The terrain just rocks! You cin is great and stuff, but terrain is the best! One of the best I've ever seen! Even better then DK's. :ggani: j/k ;) I like the forest shots very much, especially the one where there's a lot of flowers! Really beautiful! But I think they would look twice better if the camera was slowly moving. And you better remove the fades. I won't say anything about the trees, though they look really cool, but it was done a lot of times (by me too :gsmile: ).
Special effects are amazing! I love the battle scene. The skins... well, they are good, but nothing really special. Making different skins for villagers is original, but the skins are mostly recolors and C'N'Ps.
Music is very beautiful. And the sound effects, TTOA owns all other cins in this!
Storyline? Well, no offence, but I haven't seen anything original. :bgrun: If it was a single cinematic, I would give low score for the story. But for an introduction it's ok. I hope we will see the actual STORY in next parts.
To sum up, it's a very promissing project.

PS. Sad that no one remembers HoE anymore. :(
