Basiclly start with the darks, the lights, then the brights. For metals.... go here - this is real basic, but you should get the idea. 1. Base Color - should just be left at normal 2. Darks/shades/shadows - should be set to mulitply (Note: white is invisible in this setting - hint lineart) 3. Lights/highlights - screen (Note: black is invisible in this setting) 4. The brights - set to dodge (good for shiny stuff - like metals) (This is PSP - but you can do the same thing in PS - plus you can just change the brush mode) |

thanks laz... but what is the best shade of grey to use for metals? I have heard 50% grey... but what does that mean? I use photoshop btw. icbm1987 |

Well I wouldn't go below 50% grey (it's harder to make it shine on darker greys - without more work that is) Click the color tab, under: HSL - All you need to do is put 50 for L (luminosity), 0s for teh other two fields (HS). |

LAST CALL!! DEADLINE IS TOMORROW!! when i get back from school tomorrrow i'm going to close the contest, and then the judging proces may begin. for everyone who wants to judge: there will be given ghrades for originality and technique. also keep in mind that LazarusX is not competing... allthough i'm sure he wont mind if u grade him, but that would be reather useless becuz... he would get best gradez. only the winner of the first prize will get a plce in my gallery as well. the one who scores best overall will receive 100 points. the most original will receife 50. the one with best quality will receife 50. there will be no double prizes ofcourse. iif the overall winner turns out to be the one with best quality, or originality for that matter, the specific prize for that will go to the 2nd in that catagory. if everyone would be so kind to remove all their spam and WIP entries that would make the judging a lot easyer. i will go remove all my posts exept the first two, and this one. EDIT: done! this thread went from 4 to 2 pages lol :ggani: if u got an entry or an improvement left in ya i suggest u post it fast. |

Its your contest, soooo... (jedi mind trick) Its your task alone. Besides, I suck at judging fairly if Ive posted something. |

we could make a poll thread for judging... although it would be easy to make a bunch of accounts and vote for yourself.... how about erwtie just does the judging! :foot: |
