The bison of doom looks very nice... and it is kind of adorable... just because the head is soo large.

hi carl try to work a little bit more with burn and dodge, try to use a low presure 9 %, i prefer to use midtones and shadows or highlight if it is required

burn is to darken and dodge is to brighten.

its on many other painting programs too, so photoshop isn't the only prog that has those features

burning and dodging is ugly... better to make a new layer on top of your colors and set that new layer to miltiply:for shade or screen:for lights, that way you get much nicer shadings.

it also allows you to easely smudge and blur your shadings, thats handy for when you are shading things like fur/cloth/hair...

Thank u guys =) I use photoshop 7, but I do lineart in openCanvas... never gets it nice in photoshop =/ any tips for that? Also... could u explain the types of layers...? Well standard is standard... =) but what is multiply good for?

adding new layer will help you i you will need a straight forward mask but i you like to be more precise i think you can copy the layer use burn or dodge with a low pressure (i use 3-10) , sometimes i use dodge on areas that i burned to make it lighter, it gives you a lot of freedom hope i helped a little bit

sorry for the bad english

i think burn and dodge is teh suxxor, it doesn allow you to do effect shadings.

the function of miltiply is, that it blends to color in the multiplied layer with the color in the visable layer underneath it, giving very true shading. i'll post an example.

orc on the left is basic colors, the one in the middle is the shading i applied on the layer i set to multiply, and the onr on the right is the result when combined.
