What about the people who do not enjoy working with others? I, for one, take a great deal of enjoyment out of being able to do everything on my own. If I am forced to rely on other people because of my lack of knowledge in a certain area, that is fine, but if I am forced to do it out of some misguided psuedo-collectivist ethos being enforced by elitist board warriors.. then we're all screwed. I have learned nearly everything I know from browsing the boards and gleaning what knowledge I could from other people's posts. Admittedly, without those posts and little drops of information here and there, I probably wouldn't be able to do any of the things I can do now, and by no means should anyone have been 'forced' to provide me with the information that I needed. But think about this; the minute we start putting any sort of restriction on what knowledge man is allowed or 'deserves' to know, we are no better than the theocratic and autocratic mystics that have sold and bought our society so many times over in the past. |

Aye, I agree.. anyway, I'm still trying to figure out how to make two seperate animations on one model.. (ie, a mounted unit, with the rider having his own weapon attack animations) |

there u see, peoples already start posting their first work. I have already seen this grunt in the gallery section, please dont massive post it just only for showing your skill. Keep what u have learned for your self, and help other if they ask. I will help others if they ask me, but im just tired of the simple questions. There is already enough info in this forum for us to do everything with mdl. You just have to find it, and then convert them to a system that make you understand. I found out how to transfer geoset to another model and make the geoset do the animation of the new model. example i can add the grunt body to the archer, and make the grunt body do the same asnimation as the archer. This method can help u making the grunt use the bow and arrows same way as the archer, this means u dont need to add new bones and animation(if u do the normal animation transfer: archer animation to grunt) |

yea thats right. i replace the geosets, but its more, because u have to give the new geoset the animation. It simple. Change the matrices to the matching bones. Ex. matrice 2 is for arm in old model and arm is matrice 3 in new model. Simple change the number 2 to 3 |

You are quite simply, scum. If everyone was like you, we'd never get anywhere. |

The argument is over, both are good and valid points. Calling him scum isn't going to change his opinion |

I'm making a big tutorial about MDL editing. This tutorial will be based on my knowledge about MDL editing. So be happy, those who are new, this will be good for you. |

Thank you all for the nice replys and understanding of "I rest my case". And thanks for your VERY mature comment you slipped in Whitehorn. Wow! Very amazing! Care to read my posts and actually read the whole discussion next time, before you come up with such vacuous reply? |

Hadn't thought of that Mad[Lion] good idea (transferring GEOSets to the old unit instead of the animations to the new unit, I'm going to try that out :D) |

TheCreator, you are an enemy of the modding community because of your attitude. I am a one-man team. I figure most things out on my own, but there is nothing wrong with lots of people knowing how to do things. Just because you are irritated by people's aborted attempts does not make you right. |

Uh, MaD[Lion] I wasn't trying to "post my work and show off my skill" just to let you know, the post says my 2 cents... and its saying that I'm having problems with it, so, if I might restate it... I'm having some major problems, as in... my model crashes the computer... But works fine in wc3 viewer... Does anyone know of things that might be causing this? Or if its just my computer or what? Today, I tried fixing it... removed all the extra bones I left it... the axe that he tosses behind his back and a few others. I reconfigured the pivot points, and where the mesh connects to the bone, so now everything is completely cleaned up... or... should be... however, the model still crashes my computer for some reason. Heres the new .mdl... could somone please help? I'm hangin here... |
