True, vb2 was pretty insecure... but if I had a copy of the source I could probably find some holes pretty quickly. Just as long as you don't install whatever hack it was that enabled php in posts, you should be fine until copies of vb3 start floating around :P |

ok this is makeing me kind of angry since im reading through poss and seeing only sheep thinking that person has double posted. And icant even find some of my posts easily . The avatar change was a bad idea. Why do mods get to get custom ones if the other users dont i understand maybe the owners but mods thats not fair. And now i think there will be even more point hungry people who will only help for points. And why does it take 10mins to post now it used to be instant? Xtocs did a pretty good job with the template codeing even easy to read through. |

Site is slow. A large script is running right now that is refreshing the search field. When that is done it should go faster. |

How much refreshing does it need to do? Building a full text index on the entire db shouldn't take up more than a few minutes, at most. |

It goes post-by-post. It won't take too long, but that is why you may notice the site being a bit slower. |

So it builds its own index, instead of using the ones that happen to be a core part of relational databases? Sounds smart... I was kinda hoping they had stopped doing stupid things with vb3. *sigh* |

To a post vaguely up there somewhere: True, this forum isn't about whining about points, and it is about modding - but the introduction of points made modding (in ways) more convenient and productive. I certainly was going to be a part of creating some new models and skins before my method of "compensation" was stripped. ^^ If I hadn't been planning this for months, I wouldn't give a flying rat's arse, believe me. You'll have to pardon my grouchiness. While I appreciate the staff's dedication to the site and the interest in all the upgrades, I feel like the efficiency of WC3C has just dropped several levels. It will take awhile to recover. Here's hoping the site speeds itself up soon, and a new, more compact/spare skin is made available for those who prefer it. ^^ Good luck with finishing the updates. |

I like how I can now use my middle button to open up a thread in a new tab, without also opening the thread in the current tab. That was beginning to annoy me before. ;) But I did like the look of the older forum, and the posts use up more space now. :\ |

I'd kinda have to agree to that. The points perhaps made no real sense, and were disproportionate perhaps (and personally I had no practical use for them), but at least they were some kind of acknowledgement of your efforts. Having put hard work in skins and models seemed to be acknowledged work by those 1500 points so humbly depicted at a post (made one stand out from the less productive, which seems a fair quality of any community where productivity counts, right?). Points being reset to 0 makes one feel as appreciated as some person not doing jack @ss to add to this community. Having a point system at first and then resetting it is even more counter-effective then never having had a point system at all, 'cause the message seems like; 'thanks for the effort, we noticed it before, but we actually really don't care about it'. Oh, and I suppose the 'add comment'-function at the downloads is still to be fixed? Having people download your stuff but not a single feedback being given' isn't very much of a motivator either. (btw, why was my spell removed from the spell section with this upgrade? It might not have been a most impressive one, but I still thought it to be quite inventive (and people seemed to have appreciated it for it's tutorial function - which was a reason for submitting it), and it's not like the spell-section is overloaded with submissions..) |

I like most of the new changes but I dont like how the points got reseted and you shouldnt need so many points for everything. Its not as easy for some people to get points. The new layout is great though :D |

Yea. Well, everyone wants the avatars, but im not gonna complain about it. (and its not because im a mod, its cuz im gonna leave to to the rest of the community to whine about it ;) ) Anyways, the layout is very nice. Draco, if u would like me to make another one, i could do it (hehe, Halo style). Well, i dont exactly understand how the new point system works, but all well. But uh, where is the IRC server link? |

The tutorial upgrade is not done yet. |
