I'm not really the leading type. I'm more of an advisor. You wanna take over? Well, he may rergister, I hope. He had his flaws, but what human doesn't? I kinda liked him. Dunno why. I just did. |

Well, I can take orders, but I'm not very good at motivation without them. Plus, I have pretty much no experience of leading a team..... Hm... I'll think about it, if noone else comes forward. Anyone else want a shot at leading this? -edit- He got banned for posting in the wrong place? That's a damn harsh treatment. |

Thanks for your offer. :D Well, sounds like an OK proposal to me.... we seem to have several people capable of skinning and terrain, so we would just need co-ordination. If paulH comes back, he can take charge again. Your project looks very interesting btw Sandro. Good plot to it. ^_^ |

so what exactly are we making, rpg? btw I vote Sandro for boss if that's ok. |

So whats next. |

I'm guessing from paulH's posts about this that it was going to be an rpg, perhaps similar to the Warhammer Online MMORPG, but spread out over a much larger area of the Warhammer world. I also think it would be absolutely hellish to try and do anything other than an RPG, since if we involve building/melee-style elements we would need to do complete tech-trees for several races from scratch. As it is, we will need to have pretty much all-custom units. So, I guess the next step would be to look at the existing Warcraft models, and see which ones we can easily reskin into Warhammer units. Then we can decide which races it's practical to include, where in Warhammer world this is set, and then see if we need any new models or anything else. Well... at least we don't have background or spell ideas to think up, that's all been done already at least. |

What about a different kind of rpg like a heroe leading an army without the need to build them.I mean just recruiting them from one building or something and to have it balanced onlay limited units. |

I for a rpg really or something like the Mordheim game=smallwarbands type thing. as for races: orcs, humans, all the elves, chaos, dwarves. but I do propose we divide it into two factions. good and evil |

That would be interesting actually..... It would be hard to balance, but we could work out a system for quickly translating Warhammer unit stats into Warcraft ones. Have the player/s use heroes based on the generals of each race, with an army size dependent on his status, level, power and reputation. For example, a Chaos player may start of as the Champion of a Marauder regiment, then move up to a Chaos Warrior regiment Champion, then become a low-level hero in charge of a small number of regiments. Keep it steadily increasing until he reaches the level of a Lord in charge of a huge army. Perhaps include bonuses for exceptional combat prowess, leadership or magical skills to speed the player's progress. We would have to work out how the army control would work though. Like how to allow the player to control large regiments instead of single units. -edit- jerre, that is probably far easier to acheive, although I don't think we can really sort sides in Warhammer - pretty much anyone fights anyone, even in campaigns like Storm of Chaos. |

I was thinking more like as you progrees in the game assuming there are more than one map you get stronger units to accompany you.And gaining more units in a map by for instance the quest is 2 libarate your ppl do so and a few units will follow you.As you say some sort of reputation system. And when you gain enough units you could make siege to enemy castles or towns. This is a campaign right. |

I wanted to make a Mordheim map before. But I never got into it enough. But this may change things. I suggest you start off like Defiant said, as a rather lowly warrior, and have to do quests for people to buy yourself a warband, and grow in size, until you reach a certain level of wealth and fame, and you can build yourself a fortress, and command a whole army. Now that would be cool. This would have to be single player, of course. |

Well, I suppose it should be. I see what you mean, that sounds good to me. So start off as a small insignificant hero with a small number of followers, and by increasing your personal power and reputation, end up as a mighty hero? |
| 06-15-2004, 06:21 PM | #44 |
Err im not the boss its just an idea. |
| 06-15-2004, 06:25 PM | #45 |
Hm.... if do this as single-player, then we can get it done in easier steps (one race/campaign at a time). Maybe, once we get all the races we want done, we could do some kind of multi-player map, but forget that for now. So.... we seem to have decided on how the game will play out in general manner. Before we discuss it in more detail, should we decide on what races to use first? Also I'll see if I can find a map of the Warhammer world to post up here, so we can talk more easily about what regions to use (I'll label it with the race locations or something). |
