Tauren Race

Ok. Bhav urges me to post this. I drew this picture today. Not too good, but it gets the point accross. (It's a concept for the Ardent)

The Ardents are vicious female earth-calling spellcasting masters. While bedecked in ceremonial garb just like the thaumaturge, an Ardent's ceremonial garb is more a display of success in battle. On their fabric cloaks, the ardents wear a harpy skin. The entire harpy is skinned and sewn into their capes. They weild two long flail/knife thingies, which they whirl about with deadly accuracy.

Here are some tauren concept drawings that are new to me. Have you seen these before?

I doubt it could be the Ardent, simply because the Ardent is supposed to be melee and dangerous. (IE, whirling sharp things around) The plainstrider, perhaps... But we have an idea for him, as well, and must see if it looks any good after TiJiL draws it. Mostly the only problem with that is that he has too many weapons to weigh him down (He needs speed). The guy we are thinking of trying should only have the spear, but the spear would be REALLY long. (So that we can have a melee unit with 250 range)


Annoying how nobody is replying to vote on the rectify spell... I can't make it until I get another...

Some progress I have made:

Skywatcher- (Caster)

Tempest Might (Channeling) - Channels a bolt of lightning into a friendly unit, immobilizing it and healing 15 HP per second. (Think reverse aerial shackles, on ground units too, with a wide beam of lightning instead of that red stuff)

The Storm Within (Autocast) - Causes an allied unit to unleash his inner fury. Units under the effect of this buff will shoot off bolts of lightning at nearby enemies periodically. (Sort of like the phoenix fire ability for the 'buffed' unit.)

Clarivoyance (Channeling)- Allows vision of a medium sized area for as long as the Skywatcher maintains the channeling.


Ought to speak of the Nomad, as well. The Nomad is a slow ranged unit that isn't terribly powerful in attack, but being a tauren it has high HP. It can learn the Wilderness Training upgrade to increase speed and sight range (MUST HAVE if you're getting these guys) and the Bola ability. Bola gives a 15% chance to hurl a bola instead of slinging a rock. The bola also ensnares the target for 20 seconds.

I personally think that second tauren is nearly perfect for the plainstrider. Just looks like a fast, nomadic sort of guy. I especially love the armor. I think, now, that the Plainstrider should not be ridiculously horned. The whole speed issue, you know? Horns are heavy. Since he needs to look fast and lanky, I don't think he should have uber-horns.

I still think his spear must be longer and he needs to drop the axe and bow.


So... anyone but me and TiJiL making any progress?

Maybe this is of some use for you guys!!! Texture is not good but dude is not bad either. And I DID NOT MAKE THE MODEL OR ANIMATE IT OR TEXTURE IT. IT IS BY SOMEONE ELSE who posted in battle.net. I have put the credits of them.

Sehr gut, sehr gut! While we won't use it in the final version I am sure, this will be a great help to me and my spell making map. Tauren images, as you know, are quite few, and I'm resotring to using Tuskarr and trolls for the time being...

It shall be a place holder until TiJiL makes all the models. (Years from now, at this rate)

Bah, yeah. I'm waiting for a response from Andy to get something working on 3dsmax. Working slowly on Battlechief, but having a hard time of it. I'll probably have an initial screenshot of him tomorrow.

how about that hosting, have you goten any news from the "hot-shots"?

Nope, no news from them. I think I'll try to pester Electromancer some more tonight.
