I read the first few pages, and wondered if you still needed an air unit. May I present to you... The Roc. That tree next to it is put there for scaling. For more info, go to here.

Link there is expired, but I found the page you refer to... That's one freakin' large bird.

Yes, yes. The Roc reportedly captured adult elephants to feed their young. Large bird, indeed.

Zzz...Oh, have anything for me to do? Nope, ok...Zzzzz

I like the bird better than the stone dragon, we should definitely use it

the Roc was a bird of Greek Mythology, aproximately 20 feet high and 50 feet long with a wingspan of about 100 feet at adulthood, the Roc captured elephants, sheep, people and horses to feet its young, captured Rocs were at several times used as a method of Locomotion by various figures during the Greek Mythology, their favored method of attack was to lob huge boulders at the target, stunning or killing it, then break its neck and take it back to the nest. They supposidly lived on islands in the Mediterranian. Some of that info might be slightly off, but its reasonably accurate (i like mythology) a bird like the Roc also appears several times in Egyptian Mythology, but its usually the god Horus taking on his solid form or the Phoenix.

Sorry Antihero. I'll get you something to do ASAP. (I managed to destroy my computer, so now I need to fix everything. When I get 3dsmax working again I'll give you some stuff to skin)

I think the Roc is a cool idea for an air unit, but I don't want to dispose of the stone drake. Perhaps we can use them both? Of course, we'll have to scale the Roc down a bit... Heh...

I like mythology too, Pheonix. (Though clearly not as much as you). Interesting to note, though, that a bird with 100 foot wingspan would never be able to lift an elephant.

actually i used the wrong word there, by wingspan i mean each wing was 100 feet from the shoulder to the tip.

well then i got spells for him:

1. stone drop(needs to change name): he lands, lifts a stone and well, simply drops it on the enemy...

2. death from above: the Roc can land on a unit and lift it up, and then throw it on a building for sige damage. size of the unit decides the damgage.

3. cry of fear: the bird lets out a cry of fear that makes all enemy units in the area run away and be uncontrollable for 5 secs. (really overpowerd ability)

Rockfall
The sheer size and power of the Roc allows it to rip boulders of earth out of the ground and hurl them at enemies, while flying through the air with the boulder it is noticiably slower, but upon releasing it deals incredible damage.

Based off War Club for the MG, but only lasts for 1 hit.

Deathdive (Research)
The Roc dives down from its vantage in the sky, picking up an enemy and sending him flying through the air, dealing very heavy damage to anything it hits.

Also like War Club, but only lasts 1 hit and is targetable on enemies not trees.

Eagles Cry (Research)
The Roc lets out a devestating cry that rips apart the eardrums of all who hear it, disorientating and damaging enemies while their ears ring and convulse.

Gives all enemies in a radius around the roc a 50% chance to miss for 3 seconds and reduced damage for 10 seconds, they also gain increased speed for 5 seconds.

Eagle Eye
The Rocs sharp eyesight allows it to see what others cannot. The Roc can see through veils of deciet and deception, and can see much further than any other living being.

Allows the Roc to see Invisible units in a fairly large radius, the Rocs sight range is also 2200 instead of 1800.

I wasn't trying to offend you, Pheonix. Just observing. It's highly unlikely that a creature with even a 230 foot wingspan could pick up an elephant, but it's a lot more realistic than 100 foot.

My reason: If one will look at flying creatures, they are always extremely light, despite apparent giant size. A Bald Eagle with a six foot wingspan weighs 15-20 pounds on average. A Kori Bustard, the largest flying bird in the world, only weighs about 40 pounds. Looking at prehistoric finds shows more examples. The Quetzocoatalus, the largest flying creature in the fossile record, had a 45 foot wingspan but is estimated to have weighed between 300-400 pounds. To develop this way, they became oddly proportions, gradually losing every piece of their body they could spare. Indeed, to get down to this weight they had to lose most of the muscles for powered flight, and thus probably they were only capable of limited flapping, and mostly just glided over ocean thermals. Anyway, a bird of the Roc's size would be very heavy, I imagine. Perhaps it would weigh 10 tons or so, but more is highly unlikely. However, elephants normally weigh from 4-6 tons. There is no way that a bird of that size could carry such an enormous load.

(Really, there's no way a bird of that size could exist at all, but that's not the issue. We all accept that it's non-existant, right?)

(Hehe... You like mythology, I like biology.)

EDIT: Good ideas, Pheonix and Frostigt. I especially like the one where he picks up an enemy and hurls it at the ground.

surprisingly enough, the Greeks didnt bother with the laws of Physics when they came up with these things. Also Rocs are magical, so maybe they used magic to lift them? Theres no logical explination. I did these icons (pritty ovbious what each ones for) the Eagles Cry one is a CnP but the rest are freehand.

i got an idea for the campaign now!!

the stone drakes are in war with the Rocs, and you can chose to aid one of them, but when you gains ones support, you must fight the other one.

and heres a few images of rocs, their size differs a bit from each picture, as does the color and even what they look like, but you get the general idea.
