So first learn how to read. We are quite famillar with the trigger functions in the editor. FYI: Triggers can be made outside of the editor that can do all kinds of things it cant. Although in this case it would prob require a added file not just a trigger. Wich we belive we mentioned. Second, this has already been done. Both the ppl that run this site and the FPS mod team have used B-Net to comunicate with a independant website. So why dont you go find a subject you know something about before you go mouthing off to ppl?://// |

I'm not trying to be insulting here. I'm just trying to set the record straight and that basing your hopes on creating a banlist remotely accessed will not be happening any time soon. ~kharma |

Making a ban list for your map involves 1 trigger and 1 string array variable. The only problem is you have to manually update it. One trigger assigning names of banned players to a string array then checking player names against it. event: map initialization or time is .01 seconds actions: set banplayer[1]=bannedguy set banplayer[2]=otherbannedguy forloop integer A from 1 to 12 do: forloop integer B from 1 to (# of banned players) do: if/then : if (string comparison: Player name of player index integer A = banplayer[integer B]) equal to true then: game - defeat player index integer A with message You have been banned. this will ban anyone you took the time to assign to the array at map start. Once again, the only problem is that you have to assign the banned players manually and update the map with every addition, but as of now I am not aware of an easier way. |

After thinking about it, isn't this a very odd idea of just making a "Ban List"? Why not just make it so the person using the mod make his own list of people he doens't like? It's kind of stupid doing that to people some people don't even knowing, and maybe it is one of their friends? |
| 08-02-2003, 05:25 PM | #58 |
a friend ??? so what.... he ruin the map, and the game play for all others.... then if his friend is on the ban list, he could ask the friend to behave nice, instead of being a bastard to all others...... then come here and say he would like to have his friend removed from the ban list... or better, the friend could come and say sorry for all the mess he have made.... |

i'm sorry but i think this is a relatively pointless endeavor, as promising as it may seem. I mean, what is the difference between having a guy skrew up the game by being dumb and having a guy screw up a game by being kicked as soon as it starts... i think it's much easier just to find the host of the map and give him special commands to silence/boot players. Even that though has it's own degree of pointlessness as most maps start blowing as soon as a player leaves. |
