Yes there is a difference
PSP is Jasc's Paintshop Pro
PS is Adobe's Photoshop

Damn, why didn't I see this until now? Your Sylvanas and Shandris pic is PERFECT!

I would be great if you wrote a tutorial, but the thing is that I've given up drawing (I got jealous as hell on Rain, and tried to draw something serious. You DON'T want to know how it looked.)

The downside with drawing is that it's a bit like being a Hero. You can train to be a hero for a millenium, but you'll never get as good as one that was born with it.

Even though I completly lack drawing skill, I still enjoy watching pieces of work from other people.

But since I lack drawing skills, do enjoy art, I focus on learning things to do in Photoshop and 3ds MAX.

Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm just 14, might be a little young to get into 3ds but who the hell cares. I'll try. And I hope that will be enough.

For example, my sig and Avatar were both done by me :ggani:

Thx for the compliment

Just cuz someone is better at you doesn't mean you should give up completely, I find that really sad. :(

As for the tuts, I'll be using my Female Death Knight (Just about done) and a few other drawings.

I'll show how to do basic shading using layers and the smudge tool and some FX

And for help with drawings, just email it to me and I'll critque and draw a pic (with the same pose and features) so you can compare.

I don't blame anyone but myself, it's more like I don't keep myself from drawing, I just don't spend time drawing something serious, because I know that it will be crappy as hell, known that for 14 years :)

If I feel like drawing, I draw. It dosn't turn out very well so I rather not keep it. It just satisfies my drawing lust.

Well I have certainly gotten popular since I posted my 2 elves

I am now making some art for DemonKillar's project and Pixiepanyo's project.

And 1 person decided to ICQ me for coloring lessons so I did a quick text based tut for him. (a more in depth version in html/pdf format is in the works)

Sylvannas face is so hot... the warriors clothes are good but the face is strange so is shandri bit skinny and the space fear girl's gun is awesome.

Quite beautiful. My only problems with it is the hair after the tie in Shandris's hair and the too pleasant look on Sylvannis's face... judging on how she was in the campaigns I would think she would be a bit more... stern, tight up and a bit angered look to those delicate high elven features... but blah, I'm a perfectionest with my own work and it makes half of them looking like nothing good in the end... well some turn out splendid, but the other half... ugh...

I did another sylvannas with her in pain and tears in another thread.

But as for her not being so stern, well let me ask you this.... When did Syl and Shan ever were seen together?

They were last seen in the Women's Bathroom of an as-of-yet unidentified subway, in the same stall, doing their ... uhm ... thing. :ggani:

Well someone named Tempest Storm ICQed me for a PS coloring tutorial so I created a quick instructions, a sample lineart and finished copy to him.

He messaged me back and said the results were good so I've decided to post my quick tips until I can create a detailed html/pdf version.

The Setup:

The Advanced Way (For Photoshop)
Under the channels palette drag the Blue channel to the New channel icon, then
select the new channel that is created (alpha1) and press Ctrl+I to invert it.
Load the selection (Select > Load selections) alpha1, create a new layer
(call it LineArt) and go to Edit > Fill (with black)
Go back to the Background layer and clear it (with white)
Create a layer above the the Background called BaseColors

Note: Set the LineArt layer properties to multiply to darken the lines

The quick Way
First Promote the Background Layer to a layer (Just double click on it) and title it Lineart
Just set the layer properties to multiply
Ok create a new layer under the line art and fill it (with your background color of choice)
Create a layer above the Background layer called BaseColors

Coloring:
The BaseColors layer is were you will put the flat colors.

Note: On the lineart layer click on the area you want to fill with using the magic wand tool (might need to go selections > modify > expand by 1 or 2) go back to the BaseColors layer and fill. (You may still have to use a brush tool to get a few pixels)

Once filled, create a new layer called Darks (the layer properties should be set to multiply)
With the area you want to shade selected (on the BaseColor use the magic wand to select a color then goto the Darks layer) just paint on the areas (using the same color as what you're coloring on) you want to be dark, it does not have to be good at all. then either just do a Gaussian Blur or Smudge until you get the desired effect you want.

Note: Usually you should use more darks that lights.

Once the Darks are done, create a new layer called lights (set to Screen) and follow the
same process from above, (you can get away with just doing a Gaussian Blur here)

Note: Smudging can be difficult, especially having 2 different colors next to each other even if you have one selected if your brush goes past the selection into an area with another color you will drag the color into the area you are working in. Can happen with blurring too Thats why I have each colors, lights and darks are on seperate layers.

==============================================
An Example of your layer setup:
Basic Layer format: (very simple layout)

LineArt (Set to Normal or Multiply)
Light (Set to Screen)
Darks (Set to Multiply)
BaseColors
Background

Expanded Layer format: (A more advanced layout)

Special FX (For glints, blood splatters and stuff - settings vary for each effect, create a new layer for different effects)
LineArt (Set to Normal or Multiply)
Texture Overlays (best for clothing - set to softlight, but varies for effect)
Highlights (Set to Dodge - used mainly to get hair highlights and shiny metals)
Lights (Set to Screen)
Darks (Set to Multiply)
Shadows (Set to Multiply - just extra dark areas usually for the skin, sometimes metals)
BaseColors
Background

I'll show my more advanced layer setup, how I do eyes, and a ton of other effects in far more detail in the html/pdf versions I'll be doing.

Do check it out, it works out well although if you use Gaussian Blur on your darks and lights a little TOO much then it comes out odd, but it works out nice otherwise :D

uhh... it might be me, but i think you draw hands a little small in proportion to the body. same with arms, that one on the sketch of the female with the gun seems too short for her body size. :bgrun:

Great. Those eyes just show emotions. Very well done
EDIT Is this a link-gun :) ?

Link gun? U mean like in UT2K3? well no but does seem to have some of its fundemental design elements
