Point system statement

seriously this is ridiculous..i've been a member for a long time on this site..*I joined under the account fetacheese back in july* and i hardly ever post..so now just because i don't spam alot and only post my opinions when i feel it's important...i'm being forced to make a lot of useless posts...and that's just dumb...please disable this point system so we can go back to where you can get skins from people for free..instead of having to pay them for using their creative talent..because eventually even the people who are good and don't demand point are gonna get so many requests that they'll have to do something to get less requests

No, now you have an extra reason to be useFULL. You can still ask people for custom sigs skins and icons for free, but before today, nobody made many freebies. And if they did, seriously, the quality could be quite low.

Only time will tell now. I guess we could kill the barter system, and go back to unproductiveness, off topic aol spamming and no cool downloads. I dont think so.

IMHO this is what could be done:

People can request a donation for their skin after putting it out and put a number on it like 50..or whatever.

The downloaders could then donate or not, leaving the ones that donate with a good feeling and the others with a bad one :)

It should be made an offence to directly ask for payment for services. This isn't RL and the work your doing, isn't really yours...It's Blizzards

Id give a donation EVERY time, maybe not what the person asks, but something in referal to how good the item up for dl is worth...

If you give 1 point, cos you can't give more, that is fine :)

hehe, I admit, I get a bit too much sometimes...but I eventually see the other sides too :P Also, not getting serious response from mods just didn't make it better. But it's all better now.

This IS a great forum, and I would hate to leave it :)

Donations would only make the section slump to a sudden death again. Full of complaints, but you fail to realise, without the points system youd get nothing for free (Well not much).

Real money or not, it's a currency working like money...basicaly the same.

I've been getting lots for free, either because I ask nicely or people simply are so nice to put stuff up for download. So don't talk about something you know nothing about....not very intelligent really..

Just realize, that asking for points at every turn, for everything you make, won't make people like you more. I just saw that you put up your Lion skin for dl, I'm amazed...gotta be the first you ever put up for dl ? :)

No offence Wolverine, but, don't you find it a little odd that the one person in opistion that is posting allready has a thread charging people for skins, icons, ect...? This isnt a shop, its a forum.

i think........ that the point system is.......... dumb! it just encourages spamming and makes the website more difficult to use.

unless we do it like go-gaia.com, thats pretty cool cuz u can buy equipment for ur avatar with ur points! :D

Actually it will discourage spamming if people learn to use the "Rate" button. While spammers only get 1 point per post, they will lose 1 point per person who rates their post badly.

donation would be just the same as it was before. they would find things they want get them and then just not pay it would be the same as stealing.

Your already stealing, when you go into Warcraft III Viewer, and take out a skin, you steal....

i think that ZS's last idea there is a good one, its somewhere in the middle, and people will still get points, i wouldnt mind those asking for points, but demanding them is kinda lame
i would release stuff for free but im really bad at skinning and i cant model at all, and my icons arent too great (they are much much better thna the skins)

also, i forgot about the rate system i remember reading it now that u talk about it das jank

why do i have so many points? there have been like 3 responses to my post, 10 views, and ive posted probably about 8 times... why would i have 110 points?

also, does anyone know if when u buy the avatar or title stuff, it is permanent?



oh and... uhh the guy what says the earth is his pet in hjis sig (im editing.... and lazy) there are stupid questions, but asking questions, whether you figure out the answer, or obtain it from another source, is the source of knowledge, so when ppl ask questions, they are trying to learn (or trying to be a smart *** sometimes, there are situations where this does not apply)

Ahh, it boils down to this once more

Every1 stop and think. What is a forum? What are they for? Why do we have them?

Are they stores at witch to buy things? No

Are they places to come and talk? To a point

Are they places to come and help people, FOR FREE? Yes

that is the whole princeiple behind the forum concept. People come, ask questions, get them aswered. For money? No For some dumb-*** vurtual currency? No, for free, because they are nice people. is it nice to have a way to reward the nice people who make you a skin/modle/whatever? Yes. Is it good for people to use this a a tool for bribing people for thier help? No.

Do I like the points, you might think that I think that they should burn in hell. But I don't. after further thought, Its great! but it needs to be controlled, there doesnt need to be rampart charging for help.The donation thing would be great! someone makes a nice map that you enjoy, Pop em a few points and tell em how much you liked it! Someone is nice and makes you a cool skin, Pop em some points! But this whole buy HELP bissnuss is dumb, and completely unneeded.
