A triple post! By a fellow moderator! (ok, not that anybody has any moderating powers at the moment, but anyway, if you were once a moderator you probably earned it, among other things by not triple posting, so my surprise when you do so now is still valid) :) Hmm... anyway, what was I meaning to say... Oh, yes, this section is still pretty much dead (there are people who would correct me that the whole site is dead anyway, but those people probably don't find their way here) because there is no link to it in the main forum index, and not everyone can be expected to find the link you posted in one thread in Site Discussion forum. So, yeah, I suppose few people are looking around here and the place is desolate enough for those who wander in here to end up talking to themselves, so I won't hold this triple post against you ;). As far as hosting goes, I upload my files at my clan's site, but I'm not sure if that option is there for any user that registers or just for clanmembers. If you happen to play on northrend, you can always check us out, we're clan WEnW. I would comment on the map as well, but I just realised I started writing the reply without actually reading the whole thread (with 4 pages spanning 2 years, can you blame me?). I'll read it now and maybe I'll have something to say later, although, right now it sounds to me like another AoS that would have been all the rage 2 years ago when you first had the idea to make it, but is a bit obsolete now... but I really shouldn't be saying this sort of thing without reading the thread first... |

Thx Antarif :) Always good with some constructiv critisism... Once I was a moderator... once I could delete posts that were in the way in the thread... now I can't so this is cluttered with posts, that don't need to be there... Think that I could remove maybe at least 2 pages... I don't feel my AoS is obsolete, at all, because alot of the elements of the game, haven't been seen in any AoS, or seen in another way that I have done it. I still trust in the map, and having alot of fun (Cept when the map goes fubar) making it. So if it doesn't become a sucess, I don't care, if it does, good then :D I think I'm posting here, just to hope that the site will evolve... trying to get it to work... but as I can see, that might not happen... Write back when you got to read the thing ;) Uploaded the screens of the two bases, so that works now :) |

The terrain looks nice, especially hell, heaven less so, what with the mixing of three colors (green, blue and white) and all, it doesn't seem as themed as hell, which is just red to black. (but then again, I am a fan of minimalistic design, which is why I'm also glad you didn't spam doodads too much... I suppose other people may preffer the scenes to be more colorful). However, what I meant with obsolete, was not your map in particular, but the genre as a whole. You have nice terrain, but that is expected out of every map nowdays, it's a standard, not an exceptional quality. There have just been so many AoS maps... you can add a bunch of original content to your map and it will still feel like just another AoS. The things you add simply don't matter that much anymore if you add them to a base that has been seen so much already. I'm sorry, I don't want to discourage you. I have recently come into contact with some projects that were doing some amazing new stuff with the game, and I may have developed a bit of a dislike for traditional genres of maps. If I think back a bit, my projects until now were an AoS and an Arena, how conventional is that, eh? Perhaps I am wrong and there is still a player base ready to accept a new AoS. And so what if there isn't, we don't make the maps just for the players, we make them for ourselves. It's a hobby. If you like the map you're making then you already have the main reward for your effort. |
