Edited maps with the exact same name as the last 5-10 versions of the same map with the same name that I've downloaded.
Hence the may versions of Angel Arena, SOLS, TD maps, and others.

Don't make fun of novices, goddamn it you were all one of them too.
True,
But count the number of people who posted maps that showed absolutly no skill. Hell, i am a n00b, but i am pulling out all the stops on maknig a map. As least i am showing an effort to make a good map. Others that just places cliffs, random creeps, and stuff like that show no skill and don't care about the map, but how much popularity it can gain in so much time.

Also, most people that don't come here like simple maps. They don't like the maps with 10000 triggers or custom heroes with skills that take a long, skillful, time to develop. They are dwelling too much on the past and have yet to look upon the future.

So, Being a n00b isn't all that bad, but show some effort to make a map good. Don't be like some people that make a map, showing some skill by importing custom sounds that, however, insult you when you die (on this one Diablo RPG, you got called a bitch when you die). The insults, no skill, and not caring for a map is what makes the map a n00b one.

(oops, going off-topic)

So, what makes a mpa a n00b map:

1. Anything with my name on it.;)
2. Anything with my name on it.;)
3. Anything with my name on it.;)
4. Anything with my name on it.;)
5. Anything with my name on it.;)
6. Anything with my name on it.;)

except that hes right, the average 13 year old male is more interested in blowing the crap outta things than actually using his brain to play stratagy games.

I'm 15 and I DO love blowing the crap out of things.. Really enjoying Call of Duty right now. HOWEVER, I have as much (if not more) fun making triggers for my map. :) Also love playing AoS that have good custom abilities, like ToB.

So end the stereotypes guys, before I proclaim that all men above the age of 30 have potbellies, drink beer every 15 minutes, and beat their wife at least twice a day.

How's that for a bundle of crap? emote_confused

okay if i had to fullfill all your descriptions to "not being a noob", i was going to spend the rest of my life trying fixing it...

well u dont like ppl who doesnt spell good or suxx at grammar, well i suxx at spelling and grammar to, so i dont expect u to play any of maps, is that so =?

i think u people are overracting, just let the noob maps be until a good map that you like comes along and then play its heart out and wait for it, if u dont like a certain map, other people might, people arent alive just to fulfill ur likes and opinions, people do maps out of their own free will and time, respect that they took to the time to make something, rather then sitting in a chair and yell "I WANT A NEW MAP THAT SUITS ALL MY NEEDS!"

And the number one way to tell a map is edited by a noob is...

...

...

...

... when it's rigged...

...

...

...

... and they couldn't even do it properly.

I opened an open rpg in the world editor once: It had a trigger that looked something like:
Code:
Player 1 (Red) types a chat message containing 'lvl' as an exact match

Pick every unit owned by player 1 (red) matching conditions: Picked unit is a hero and do:
Set hero level of (triggering unit) to level of (triggering unit) +1.

Note the use of 'triggering unit' where 'picked unit' should probably be.

I wonder why the creator just said 'lvl' a few times at the start of the game and then left. ^^

I hate to say it but some of StarCraft Ums map are better then most of mindless ums maps on wc3 battle net that are mostly played. The main Problem why Ums have sunk to shuch a starnadrd is beacuse wc3 triggers are more like programing lag then sc ever was and unless the maper is willing to learn it they will never make good ums maps. also wc3 is still young in blizzard game stanards (about 4 years). The ums maps will get better I have seen a few good ones in the last few mounths that I even play.

That's bullshit. Me has the principle of never locking any of my maps, as I don't mind having them copied by others. If someone wants to learn from my maps, why shouldn't he?

There is no problem in people looking at others maps. It isn't even that bad when they take a couple ideas here and there. The problem is when you get 17 different versions of the same game....and the only difference is the creator.

and BTW, 'noob' is just a term used by players to represent that you have made a mistake. It doesn't mean they think your an idiot, or an actual newb, it just means they're a little ticked off at the moment. I mean personally i much rather be called a newb (and shrug it off because i know they're idiots) or be called a "****ing ***hole prick ****er ****head", or worse for that matter. Being called a newb is just a term, it's been used to the point where it has lost it's original meaning.

Why are there so few good maps on battle.net that are actually popular!?

'cuz the average b.net palyer has the brains of a demented Baboon.
(How dumb are you when you don't know HOW TO PICK THE BLOODY HERO, when the 5-minute intro starts with CLICK ON THE ROCK TO PICK A HERO (and repeats it 3 times)???)

Also; the best way to figure out if the game is made by a nOOb or not is too look at the mana/health fountains. If a Health Fountain is allways accompanied by a Mana fountain... well...

Also; If the map includes a flying-Demonhunter Hero, that acually becomes WEAKER when using Metamorph...

And a few others, but my bloody dog is biting my leg off, so I gtg walk him.

with the protection matter, some maps @ the beginning say "this map has been unprotected using unprotectQr v1.0" i regret ever releasing that to the battleforums noobs, but now that map has like 100 versions, all with something different, or an item with "100% evation" <--- not my spelling mistakle, I'm not kidding, if you can't take the time to spell something right, why should we take the time to play your map? [/rant]

on another note: if you make a map to become popular on b.net, i'll say it now, go fuck yourself!!!! you should make maps for your own satisfaction, and when your done you say "well that was fun!" and play it ever so often, I'm making an aos with just normal heros to basically test my mapping/terraining/triggering skills and to see how well balanced blizzard made thei'r heros, i don't care if it ever becomes popular (though deep down we all want it to be) I'm happy hosting it every other week and playing it with a few friends

'noob' means 'new'
'new' means 'not skilled'
'not skilled' means 'you suck'
'you suck' means 'you get critisized alot'

btw: Norwegian uses bloody like everyother englishman/woman

what makes a map a noob map?
1. tooltips that are messed up, dont give descriptions, or have messed up spelling and unneeded colors, (footman wars had one that said 'Deals damage')
2. No story line (some occasions), i have once played a game with no story line what-so-ever, it was like... 'go, hack and slash, then win'
3. The custom icons, spells, heroes, units, and everything else is unbalanced A LOT, not like this unit has 20 hp more than this unit but has 5 less damage then that other unit. But more like... this unit levels 200% faster than that other one and has spells that deal infinite damage at level one.
4. GRAMMER AND SPELLING AND ABILITY TO COUNT COLORS, grammer and spelling, have i seen to many times someone say... 0mG, I @m $0 L33t! to me its just a bunch of letters and numbers jumbled into some thing that is suppose to look like a sentence... have you ever play escape the pyramid? the quiz of death... its more like count the colors/units...

ex. i was playin with a 4th grader (should have learned how to count pass 100), 'How many GREEN ones are there?' (answer 8)
'7' / '3'/ '6'
i say 'go back to school dumbass and learn to count colors' and i have never gotten an answer wrong, except when everyone knows we're gonna lose
