... im gonna drop out... since no model edit... btw, there is no model edit! u guys understand the meaning between mdl edit and model edit? and mine is not really a mdl since the wings and such can be added with triggers, and the wings are reskinned, not only that, mdl editing is used to enhances skins and stuff, u cant do much in skinning if u dun use mdl editing, u cant alpha out mesh when the filtermode of the material is None.
skinning is only a very very minor thing i modding...

he said u can mdl edit but doing attachments is unfair cause this is a skinning contest not a skinning featuriing some triggering contest.
btw would changing or removing particle emitters count.

egg, do u know that attachment can also be done by mdl editing? if u dun, plz dun argue anymore... btw attachment CAN be added using triggers, but its actually mdl editing... for the trigger, its create SFX, but as in the mdl, its really called attachment... so mine's pure mdl edit... and skinning of course... a trigger is not a need... since u said mdl editing is allowed, so my angel knight can enter then

Hmm, plus the ever obvious overlooking of things such as turning off the hero glow in Imageviewer for your skins pictures... is that banned too? Because you cant remove hero glow without mdl editing :ggani:

What exactly is supposed to apeal to a skinner to take part? There's no official recognition, no prize and no real grounsd making it a decent contest.

I don't feel that a skinning contest could be accurately judged. What are you basing it on? The look? The time? The style? Et cetera. There are many good skins, and trying to say that one is better than another isn't possible. There is also bias with skinners that may have been posting longer or have bigger reputations or have developed friendships with entrants. The judges in my opinion need to be very acutely aware of subtle nuances in skins and what not; not to mention they'd have to be very skilled artists and skinners, which I doubt most of the judges are, from what I've seen anyway most wouldn't meet the qualifications in my eyes. Do we really need a contest that elevates someone above another anyway? If it could be accurately judged, then I'd say hell yes, but this is improbable in the least, impossible at the most.

I don't know, I'm sure no one will listen to me anywho, or just be angry at what I said. Good luck with the contest then.

I'm angry at what you said, first of all judges are impartial and I will judge the best skin of the catagory, there is always a better skin. :p

did you even listen to what he said ? (or wrote :P) How will you define the skin as better ? because you like blue more than green for example ? That the skin appeals more to you than the other skin ?

What criteria are you judging from ?? and how can it be impartial for all the participants ??

What if all the judges didn't know whose skin was whose? They're just shown the skin, but not the name of the entrant until they've all voted?

I dont think you should judge no offense to anyone but i think all the mods should know to skin and knows all the basic knowledge about it.

It's not impossible. All the skins are e-mailed to one person who is neither a skinner, or a judge, and he posts all the skins on the thread. Then, the judges can vote.
