nathan i thank you for your devotion bu I dont think were at any stage to be contacting ppl just yet. give me time to work on the rules. seriously. i have a week off this week, and then the next week and a half are filled with exams. After that, then i'll talk. But for now. could this -please- be put on hold? I'm serious, I don't have time to think about this. just wait. two weeks and a half. I'll send you the cards tommorow. And then we can compare rules, and hopefully mold ideas together into something good. but it will have to wait till after my exams. |

wow i missed out on so much stuff... anyways Nathanmx i would really love to join in the rule making and the basis and mechanics of the game... because i really love experimenting with stuff like this... so please count me in for the rule book stuff... but i have exams next week... (what a coincidence eh Murloc Lover?) so i can't do much right now, but once they are over, i will stay online like maybe 50% of the day, lol... |

i'm sorry to say this but... isn't it a little too soon to start marketing and web design and investmenst? you haven't even gotten permission from blizzard for this. i think that's the first thing you shoulda done. otherwise, good job on the game so far. |
| 05-29-2004, 09:22 AM | #50 |
yeah get the permission first... the blizzard guys wont answer you that fast anyway, if they really consider it, it could take weeks for them to decide. As I said, if this is going to work, you can count me in as tester, suggester and eventually as distributor, if you want. |

I think your getting s bit shead of yourselves. You seem to know what your doing but really carry on like this without blizzzards permission and wel you know. But sure create a couple of demo decks make sure the rules are polished make them look cool but for gods sake dont sell it yet. Send the cardgame to Blizzard (still leagal cause you have made no income) they can play the game a bit themselves see if it's good and await their permision, THEN go about getting staff and quitting jobs...lol Oh aswell you should hurry up because if i was a big company like blizzard i would have already invested in somebody like Wizards of the Coast to develop a card game no? ps. im a brit |

thats what ive been saying all along, get permission and get rules before anymore printing. Ive been saying it for ages. I dont know why youve been waiting for a reply nathan, you know my view on the situation. make some rules first. and get some artists in who can draw some items. THEN we go to blizzard, THEN we talk about printing. A WoW game wouldnt work. its an rpg.... And it isnt warcraft 3 its more warcraft in general. could we really make a full TCG using only units from war3?! thats like 14 units per race! We're going to need extra units- say for exmple samwise's troll primal or tauren healer. They can be in expansion sets. I cna see what you mean nathan about the cards layout. ill re-design them so they have a smaller image (like magic/pokemon) and more room for text. I think if we scrap the icon from the abilities and just have a list of spells in text we might be able to get it working. ive allready got a basic set of rules, why not work form them rather than create totally new ones. Ive posted most of the core rules in this thread. |

I've been looking at this thread for a few days and, even though I"m 13 only, I believe I can help on the rules, since I finished school. I love the idea though! |

LOL how did u. ANywayz ill try to hunt down as much art as possible for the cards. My Friend also has the art book. 1 wait this should do it. I read alot but the very first thing you should do is plan it out first then ask for permission. You want something substantial toshow the would be partner/clients(blizzard). If u show them s solid game play pland and good cards. Maybe one or two with origional art from here(talk 2 ertwen and jacinthe). You want to present somthing solid that has options. Also u want to anticipate all their questions before they ask them. Ya i find this intreaging and it could work blizzard has ) to lose, other than reputation if it goes bad. 1 thing ull have to do is copyright the concept before u show it to them i mean all the rules, gaming system, and the possibly layout of the cards. Not the actual art. Don't underestimate big buisness. Thell tell u no then steal ur sh!t. Anywayz just putting in my two cents. I happen to be the account executve for the advertising agency at my school. Also art dirrector but i did't have time to do much dirrecting. |

well, not only do you have to get blizzard's permission. the original artists who drew the art need to give you their permission as well. also, if this tcg is starting to get economic, you shouldn't be posting here for it. start your own company forum. eventually this is what you will have to do. |

Whew, I just got through reading this entire thread. I must say Nathan, I'm very impressed. You've taken this to a level no one else on the boards would. But, before I start offering my help, I'd like to see some progress outside of words. I mean pictures, maybe some emails you've sent, and some emails you've received. If you, honest to god, have the resources and knowledge it takes to give this a jump start, then I will do all I can to help, but until you give me your undieing word that you have the resources you need, and that you do, infact, have experience in this, I will only be waiting for your reply. |

I'm going to laugh so hard if this is an attempt at a money stealing scam. |

wow. this is going really far ^_^. i am speaking about interests here. warcraft 3 is a semi-dated game. not many ppl play it because they are a fan. i am not criticizing or discouraging, but, i don't know if many ppl would actually buy these cards. ps - i care because i'm worried about the depth of this project and financial strategy. i mean, the foundations of your company is, no offence, weak. you started it on a game modding forum? i mean, you are asking game modders from across the world, strangers who you have no knowledge of, to be your staff, distributors, advertisors, and sponsorers. you don't even know how experienced these ppl are. even though many ppl on this site are talented, they are still, for the most part, not trained professionally. and also, you have already registered a company (though temporary and limited) before you have even obtained the information necessary to see if you can go any further into it. this is a management problem here. organization must be put into consideration. i don't know how much money you are planning to make. nathanmx, you have gone into such depth about your plans for this company. i hate to burst any bubble, but, there are lots of holes that aren't covered. i am saying this because i don't want you to be disappointed if it doesn't work out. i am open to the possibility that it will work and there will be profit, but right now it looks like too much of a gamble. sorry i say this but this is my opinion. good job so far though, and good luck, brave entrepreneur ^_^. |
