Chemo, your whole banlist idea is pointless. Name spoofers are not hard to come by. |

alright ive looked over this thread.. i think having a ban list is a little dumb. Not to be insulting, but you would need to take down ip adresses for it to really work and that is a little bit intense, and if they change their ways ruins their chances of playing until the next patch. i suggest you make a much less harsh " warning list" or , a blacklist. simply take down the ip and if the player comes up then display a warning to the host that he has a record and a message to him not to do anything annoying. I think that would more or less get the job done with much less risk of you getting banned by bnet. |

This seems stupid... what if you ban someone and it was an accident? What if you misspell someone's name on the list? It'd be easier just to boot them from pre-game channel than to have triggers ban them. |

I'm just wondering if we could use a modifies version of the chatbot's to message a player in game the list, from the site, which is recorded by a text message trigger.emote_sweat I know the current bots wouldnt work, but it would be awesome if it could be done. Than just run it through a loop thats splits the names apart, sets them to an array where it is compared to surrent players. Crazy, but more possible than the other solutions stated. |

but we have another type of problem....new "troublemakers" are gonna spawn every couple of days, and how are we gonna update our banlists ? by editing every map ? i don't think so.... and kharma, u didn't mean me in your sig, did you ?:))) |

I say just stick with that old system where you have a kick-vote system, then, even when the B.net idiots find out that their account is being banned and create a new account, if they don't change their attitude, they can still be kicked if everyone hates them. |

this is a great idea, and, if i were u, chatbots. I wish i knew more about them i should redownload and play with them, This way there would always be a database and the map or player 1 red would submit all player names then the bot would report whos been naughty and whos been nice. It could be intresting, only problem, accounts are free and easy. |

Since my point seems to be completely ignored, allow me to reiterate it: Ban lists will stop NO ONE. They won't even slow anyone down. The best they can do is get innocent people locked out of maps until they change account names. Name spoofers ARE NOT hard to find. They're easy to find. With them, you can impersonate anyone you want, you can change your name each game you join, without leaving battle.net. So, to give you an example, I could look for chemo, whatever his account name might be, and wait for him to join a game. When he does, change my name to, say, darmius and proceed to ruin the game. Chemo then goes to his banlist and adds darimus, banning an innocent person, and I rejoin the game with a different name and proceed to ruin it again. You're not teaching anyone a lesson by using a silly ban list scheme. Furthermore, war3 does not allow you to access enough identifying information for you to be able to ban someone effectively. |

I like the idea of a ban-list, and I'd like to helpm doing it (Optimizing code, making it more streamlined, easier to use ETC. Also, I'll offer you hosting at Gamescraft. Having a certified ban-list might not be able to stop dickheads, but it could certainly slow the tide. |

it sound good to have a forum for this, and im updating the banlist recently.. but i do still need some members to join this project or then I would be the only person who are the judge of ppl... |

People leaving a game once it has started is worse IMO. You want people kicked/banned before tha game starts. Blizzard should set up a referrer system like ebay. So every member has an approval rating. Dicks either get kicked for low rating, or are forced to make new accounts. |

I read through only one page of this, so please forgive me if this has already been suggested. I had this idea when trying to think of a way to record number of times won/lost in a map, but I didn't have the triggering skill at the time, nor did I know if it was even possible. Could you not simply implant a file into the "Warcraft III/maps/scenario" directory that indicates that this person is banned? You would have to get them to play once, be an ass, and then play again under the same account name, but it could work if you could get it to happen in the first place. If the file is discovered, then they've gone through an awful lot of trouble to find this one simple thing to play one single map, so odds are they've learnt their lesson. If not, two plays later they're banned again, albeit it will be much easier for them to discover the file the second time. Again, sorry if this discussion ended already and I'm off-topic, but its just an idea I had that I thought could help some. |

Yes this is a very serious situation although it may be good for you and the poepl you like i know 1,000 people that can hack into protected maps and change the ban list therfore you gotts get some kind of invincible lock |

BEWARE OF ARCHE, THE BLACK SHEEP OF DEATH! HE MIGHT LEAVE YOUR B-NET GAME AND RAPE YOUR MOTHER IF YOU ARE'NT CAREFUL!!! YOU SHOULD ADD HIM TO YOUR LIST!!! (no, not seriosly) |
