well whatever you made the blp name bitmap name thing in the mdl,is what you rename your blp you converted. say you made in the mdl textures\sword.blp then put your uvmap under textures/sword.blp. rename it |

I decided to start the tutorial all over again, thinking I missed something, but when I get to step 14 I run into a problem. 14.if it looks like what you want it to look like then go to model-save- and overwrite your old sword model. if not, then go edit the uvmap and go back to the default material and instead of going to change,go to reload. I try to save my model but an error pops up saying: The 3DS file format requires that all bitmap filenames be in the 8.3 filename format, otherwise they will be truncated: swordspike.tga Verify your bitmap filenames then try again. OK What in the world does this mean? The uvwmap I put on it using the Materials>Modify menu were in a .tga fileformat (24bits, No Alpha Channel), does it have to be some other kind of format? What does truncated mean? Why does it say it's a bitmap? Why do I have so many unanswered questions? If you need the .3ds file, or the .tga just ask, but I would rather you told me how to fix it myself incase I come across this problem again in the future. BTW: You stole my title thing, but thats cool, I don't mind. It's just telling the truth. I wish I were chosen though. |

click your middle mouse button to change the veiw freely, or, if you don't have one, hit u once to start auto rotate, then left click once to stop it. Does any one know how to help me? Our am I doomed? |

you just have to make your file name shorter. i had the same probablem. i too am making a tutorial but it will cover some skining, more techniques for unwraping, and modeling. but i wint post anything about it here. its gona be on my forum |

When your done with your tutorial will you post a link to your forum here? I need tutorials badly since I'm not smart enough, or sometimes sober enough to figure things out on my own. EDIT: I did what you said and it worked, kind of. I made the skin for it just a pear grey in order to test it, but when I look at it in WC III Veiwer, it uses the skin from some building, and I have no idea why. I would post a screen shot of it in this post but you can't change attachments with the edit button, so don't get mad at me people for double posting, it's not my fault. |

Well this is my first thread on this site so happy me!:gsmile: Well anyway i have the picture of my sword here but i cannot open the program to the file converter. Ive tried both of them but they dont work. The moment u open it it says that it has to shut down because of an error message... So can anyone help me??? Oh yea, and what about the yougbuls convertor download??? could that be the reason why its not working? Duhhhhh... Noone told me it had to be in the warcraft 3 file :( |

My 3ds wont accept .3ds, only .max...... /edit: not enough detail ok well so i cant add the uvw points or whatever, it wont let me get into lith unwrap from that |

ah. Hear is the thread. My cousin (Immelman) told me to revive this thread and that he's leaving. So here goes. Btw can a moderator take of a point off of mine cuz Immelman just wanted it revived. |
