the more suits she has we might have 4 (phazon suit) will each get more techinical as they go so don't sit back and realx, are we gonna create like a small company like for movies????? cuz we can make a lot of stuff on metroid such as conversion campaigns cinimatics, etc. like Zero inc. or something like that but that's besides the point. i got a virus thing so some stuff got erased in my folders luckily i made 100000000 backups on discs for my triggers sadly i wasn't expecting that sooo the frist movie got annhialted sry... :( i still have all the trigger such as the moving and beta stages for jumping the jumping is somewat done just need the animation to look good but i don't no if it will work........ there was something else but i forget i'll edit when i remember.... :( every1 in this project go to the homepage of that link to classic gaming go to super metroid (sm) and look in the background if u c that gold statue look in the bottom middle do u c that ghost/octopus thing do u think we should have it come back since it was a ghost? like samus needs to go back to an ancient space station to pick up a forgotten piece of equipment for the suit and then it shows the chozo holding it but then a bunch of blocks fall down and that things shows up???? whadda think? |

I once was once a member of a metroid mod, which has quit long ago. but we used model editted Wildkins for Chozo, Faceless ones with guns for pirates, the metroids were specially created, and Ridley was a Red Dragon skinned metal and with lots of particles. I'm just givin some ideas and i wish you luck with your mod. :D |

The most complex part, the one that will require the most work and skill, triggering a sidescrolling engine, could be done by about three people in the community and they're all either lazy or working on other projects. May take less time to start learning the JASS yourself. That said, here are some suggestions I'd offer to whomever tries coding this: Lock the camera on its side. Don't use builtin terrain. Create a backdrop by placing a vertical version of the LoadingScreen.mdx (get your modeller to make it vertical and have your skinner make several nice level backgrounds). Make an Aloc unit with the loadingscreen model and have it move to the left when the player goes forward and right when they go backwards. I'd handle platforms and the like completely artificially -- make them floating doodads of constant size. Better: make a kit of one "block" doodads (cubes) with different skins, and make the levels giant pieced togethers sets of these. Code an engine rather than recoding for each level. Have the engine handle collision by detecting samus's proximity to the doodad. Not sure how you're going to get doodad height -- you may have to use units instead of doodads for platforms come to think of it. Actually, that'd be better because then you can have moving platforms. Also -- in order for the game to be smooth you'll need a good understanding of memory leaks and know how to use repeating timers to get really small waits. |

basically, i need all those ppl, currently, i only have about 4 people working, one which includes me....do you think you can show me some sample triggering? im not a real good triggerer i have to admit...about the backdrop, that sounds like a great idea, i might try it. |

Just a comment.... I've been browsing this thread and as a Metroid fan, the possibility of a WC3 game is exciting. I'm a member of the Metroid Database's (www.classicgaming.com/mdb) message board, so i'll post a link to this thread for you guys. I don't have the skill to help you much, but I'll at least do this. This looks pretty good, btw. I'm sorry I don't have any modelling or much skinning skill. (But I have story ideas, though, for my own Metroid game or fanfic!) |

A 3d side scroller might be cool. |
