Challenge: Rivendell

Seems like Shining force is against custom models...

Custom models are made because of the need to have some specified models and not just the regular models that Blizzard granted us.

Thank god for modelers and skinners :D

Well I hope to see your Screenshot(s) soon Murci

Nonsense! I always have a solid argument, you may just need to sift through what I write to find it sometimes.

As for your "terrain", it is in my opinion that while it may be appealing to the eye, it relies upon custom models rather than actual terraining to do so.
And that is one of the main reasons I dislike custom models, I believe that they dull creativity and induce a higher state of laziness.

Now I assume that you'll respond to this with some sort of disagreement, but, seeing as I'm not one to draw out such... futile discussions for very long, I would kindly advise you not to expect a response from me beyond this.

Hopefully that's a solid enough point of view for you...

However, despite your use of custom models, it does indeed look quite exquisite in my opinion, and my above digressions are in no way meant to imply that you are a sub-par terrainer.
Although, it is my current belief that your modelling skills far outmatch your terraining skills.

But I've pressed the matter too long, good job either way.

Actually, reinless says he sucks in terraining. So he wouldn't disagree.

Terraining is not only making the surroundings look good, it requires good doodad placement.

Ah Shining Force is a decadant twit eh? Laziness is spending a few hours to produce new doodads that provide an accurate recreation of the structures, when no existing doodads could actually do it?

No, lazyiness is sitting there and being a hypocrite. Where is your entry then? Your opinion isn't worth shit if you havn't actually provided anything of worth for us to judge you.

updated screenshots

@Shining Force:

1. I can't see your solid arguments in your previous post tho i slit it to lil bits
2. Models do not "dull creativity and induce a higher state of laziness"... they actually REQUIRE creativity to "create" them. And yea, I use custom models, I make'em myself to fit my needs, ergo i don't have to skin a peasant grave to get a strange and funny wall wannabe or stuff like that.
3. As for my "terraining" skills, I never said I'm good at it, but at least I had the decency to show some of my terrain, with and without custom models before commenting on others

And yeah that was a "futile discussion" but I couldn't help myself... I just hope your next post will come along with some terrain screenshots

If you've got custom models why not use em? If you don't got em, think of a way to get the same general effect. Easy as that.

EDIT By the way reinless, that looks great. My only nitpick would be to vary your trees. I especially like that little thingy next to the river.

Ahh I certainly can spark quite the argument, without even the slightest intention of doing so...

Reinless:
I would think it to be advantageous for you to not only understand that my comments are of my own opinion, meaning I am in no way stating that you are wrong in your thoughts, but that your discussion would be much more effective if you tried to downgrade your agressive tendancies, which are quite apparent, at least to me.

There's one thing I'd like to adress:

From what I can see you're implying that I insulted your talent in the art of terraining. On the contrary I praised your work.
I did say that I considered your modelling talent to be better than your terraining talent, but that in no way means I think lowly of the latter.

I'll leave on the note that when I say using custom models dulls creativity, I mean in a sense of terraining, not in the actual modelling, as using them allows you to ignore trying new things or terraining in an innovative fashion.

And that is all I will say...
