Guest | Yes, the rotar arm needs to be seperated from the rest of the model. Anyways, hmm, i did forget the spiral on the devil maker, mainly because of my poly count was reaching the ceiling. Ill lower those polys, and add that spiral. Anyways, im swamped with real life right now, so if anyone wants to do any models that I haven't done, go ahead! |

eh, sorry for bad explanation but if the water cant be made buildable, it doesnt matter- ill explain anyway tho=> when you build buildings, you cant place them with super fine exactness - they placed on a grid, different buildings take up different amounts of tiles (i hope you know what im talking about cuz its hard to explain) no triggers would be needed i think that the pathing of all the terrain on a map is saved with the map and in that way it might be possible to make the water buildable btw, good looking bridges, but the posts seem unneccesary if they will be floating in the sky :bgrun: anyways, i might work on an altar and high preist with my spare time (i am also working on an animation export script for 3ds max and i will test it by animating them :D) random: workshop polycount could be greatly reduced by making the stairs a skinned box rather than a bunch of tiny steps and the i know your still working on it, but the devil maker's middle section could a lot less detailed and still be fine more ideas: * stealing (0_o) sounds and music from the original netstorm would make it much cooler. they are easily accessable through the NetStorm\sound dir :D * paraylzed high preists can be captured with soul crystal ability, needing very little (if any) triggering * spells: - point blast, devastation, and decimation can be area of effect spells like blizzard, that have almost no range (so they can only be targeted right next to the caster), although they can probably made to not even need a target - invisibility ... duh - harden bridge is a hard one but perhaps, if the bridges are wards there could be an area of effect heal that only targeted wards - heal ... duh - paralisys - stun - treason - hevily edited possetion thats all i can think of for now!:D |

This thread has gotten friggin' huge... I think we should have our own forum. 8) |
| 01-28-2003, 07:57 AM | #79 |
true, that 8) another problem that we have is how the buildings (that arent built by the priest) are made. As a refresher to anyone that has forgoten, the player chooses them from the side bar and places them somewhere. a spark thing then comes out of the nearest workshop/outpost and when it reaches the transparent outline of the just placed building, it is quickly constructed. my only idea (that doesnt require triggers) is that the workshop could make free wisps that did nothing but build these buildings another problem is replicating the way that each workshop holds a limited amount of technology. the food supply might be used to do this, but im not entirely sure how also, dont bother modelling the golems because a reskinned zombie would be perfect:gsmile: |

O wait and that thing you said about animation export, what was that? |
| 01-28-2003, 07:50 PM | #83 |
ok. ill try and figure IRC out (its always given me problems:nono:) about the anim exporter, it seems to work ok so far. i am done with the hard math, the TCB to Hermite conversions (which were a pain in the a**). i have only tested it a little so far. i am still working on a way to implement pivot points, which are pretty important but shouldnt be too hard :D i learned MAXScript about 4 days ago just to make this script :ggani: :ggani: |

Guest | You know if you get an animation exporter working everyone will worship you on the Project Revolution forum. Anyways, the staircase thing with the workshop has already been discussed, and it will be just a skinned box. I have plans for the devil maker, just need less extrusions and rely on the skin to give it heavy detail. I think the posts on the bridge are neat. Lets keep them for now just to see how they work out! Also, I would prefer a forum here over another site. Contact Skull about it, and show him our work so far. If he sees that this thing is actually already being made, out chances of getting a forum will increase several times. |

Yes i asked Skull and he said that he COULD host but it costs him kinda much to host a project, but as you say, it will draw attention to this project, but do you think its worth asking Skull again about it or should we wait and get a forum at another site? |

Guest | Hmm, lets just continue to use this thread for a little bit and wait for the site to get out of financial disaster, then ask again. |

I agree with Random. |

me too while my animation exporter works ok, it is a pain to use it to make anims for a new model or add them to an existing one (it is only easy to replace anims on an existing model) because of this, i decided to make another mdx exporter that supported animation export (unlike KMK's) this exporter will first export only in the MDL format (must be converted to MDX with Yobguls file converter) but if it a success i will make it so it can do MDXs too i will give you another report when i have made significant progress on the exporter :mtk: |

The owner of the site is Arcuivië [he can also be found at wc3c] and they also hosts another project for WC3 there, the LOTR mod, so go check that site out once in a while! www.modzetc.com |
