The second post is now a FAQ. Please look there and through the posts before asking questions. |

I don't understand how to diffuse a texture. I tried reading the tutorial that came with it, but that only led to fustration and no texture on the model. |

In 3ds max or gmax press 'm'. This should bring up the Material Editor. Select the first material and then click in the blank button next to Diffuse. This should bring up a range of options. Choose Bitmap. Then choose the texture when the open file dialog comes up. When back in the material editor turn on the checkered box button. Then apply the material to your model. If you've any problems with it have a look at the help. |

I added a UVM Mapping modifier, and even tried moving the gizmo around, but I only saw the pinkish color that was assigned to him when I imported. |

How do I get 3dsmax. (Without paying an immense sum.) I am trying to make my own models, and they won't export, because I only have gmax. Thanks. |

The Importer/Exporter is now available from kmkdesign.8m.com/downloads as well as this thread. MasterSlowPoke: Did you follow my instructions? Where's that quote from? It has nothing to do with getting textures to be visible. See if this helps: http://kmkdesign.8m.com/tuts/mat/ |

That came from the tutorial that came with 3ds Max. They didn't have step 7 in it. Thank you! Now I don't have to lad up the game to check my portrait! |

ok, i exported a model i made but the UV map won't keep itself. When i come into the World editor to test it the whole thing is black. 1. Yes it points to the right texture 2. Yes i have UV mapped it. |

Yeah, I haven't quite worked out the rotation yet, so animation is a bit off, that's why I've added the option not to import rotation. Reimport the model into max and see if everything's fine. You might need to convert the model to an editable mesh before exporting, although I shouldn't think so. Also convert the model to mdl and check everything's fine in there, if you haven't already done so. If none of this works you can post the model here or send it to me and I'll see if I can find the problem. |

Guest | Wait, whats the point of saying its comaptible with gmax, then i spend all this time getting gmax and making a mdoel, then its not compatible for export? So now im stuck with buying a $1,000 3ds max, or illegally downloading it. Now what do i do? Someone help me... is 3dsmax the only program this thing works with? Also, is it safe to edit faces instead of verticies? |

Guest | Guys i am a newbie here so please forgive my stupidity, I have gmax, and have downloaded and run this importer/exporter script so ok now how do i use it ? i mean it shows that it loaded but it did not add any convert button nor did it add a additional file extention to the export , what do i have to actually select to get some type of dialogue that allows me to save my file as a mdk ? |
