why should you have to get paid for work your doing for fun? that's a ridiculous idea..the whole point of this website is to provide a forum where people who Enjoy modding WC3 maps can talk and find people to work in their projects in theory it should be illegal to get points for your skins anyway...because..you getting paid for work you didn't do..basically you just colored over a already made skin..now if your making your own models and skins then that's cool..but your still using the WC3 engine so none of this work is yours to sell... |

No, but this isn't money.... It's virtual currency, I bet there aren't any rules on that. Don't call it points, rather call it...motivation points :) They are free anyways...all u gotta do is post and get posted... It's ok to take points for your work, as long as it doesn't take overhand. This system also makes thoes who just lurk the boards post...getting them out in the system. |

Pixies, quite alot of skins are fun to start, but not so fun to finish, requireing large amounts of time and effort. While i'm willing to put this into project work, i'm not doing it for the public for the simple reason that i dont get anything out of it. I really cant see the huge problem with these points that you all seem to be having. |

This new point system is soo bogus, if I need help on something then i shouldnt have to pay points to get help, why can't we just give our help for free, you know this is just going to turn into one giant game of monopoly, all the newbs will have nothing, and won't be able to get anything, think of it like this, if you say it works like a cyle it really doesn't: Expert - gives help but requests points, has many points, sells skins and models ^ | Ameatuar - gives little help but has alittle bit of points, sells some stuff, asks for help sometimes ^ | n00b - asks for help but has no points to afford it, can't get any better becasue he had no help, so therfore he cannot buy skins or earn any kind of points for selling anything casue he can't do anything casue no one will give him help, and he can't give help to others because he doesn't know much. This will all come down to the mods having immnese amounts of power, and the regualr users begging for help, and mods and powerful people will basically own everyone. This point system won't work casue it is like a money system, but unlike most currency systems it won't work, it will turn a site based on helping people and making mods into some sort of flea market, it willbe like one big store, everyone will have to buy everything and most of us will complain about it, we will all have to argue and beg for skins to be released for free, and most important of all the new people to this site will bascially not be able to join in the community, or the people who are somewhat quite but when they speak up say important thinmgs, these people will never be able to really get itno the community, soon enuogh we will eventually grow to have a download section that is pay points per download. I hate to sya this but it might boild down to people having conversatins like this Pesron 1 : Hey Person 2 I came up with a great new mod wanna help? Person 2 : Sure but whats in it for me you know im a great "whatever", the best there is. P1: O don't worry i'll pay you per every day you work on the mod. P2 : really thats cool, but won't you end losing all your points and givin them to me? P1 : O dun wrry about that ill just make a cool skin and sell it to some hopeless noobs to get points lol P2 : Lol Man if this mod turns out cool we can have people pay to join the team! P1 : yea good idea, and we can even sell the skins to make some points on the side. .............L A T E R....................... P 1 : Dude our mod is done and its the best on ever! P2 : ino i am so proud, it looks awsome Person 3 hey guys where can i dl you awsome mod, i bought a preview of the mod and it look great and you siad tis done now where can i get it ? P1 : Get it? LOL YOU NEEDA BUY IT DUH! 600 points for this new mod, pay up buddy You know eventually it will come down to this, people selling their mods for points, and people will advertise their mods and charge people for screenshots of their mods and stuff. You guys have to pu an end to this point system it will totaly mess up these boards, I may leave if you guys wanna keep it like this, and o ye if you keep it can you giuve me back the abilty to change my avatar and my title casue that is really ghey. Plz change this crap PLZ it ruins the whole aspect of this site P.S. @Wolverine, you may get me banned for this but i don't care, I hate greedy pigs like you and you should be banned for making people pay for help, I hate moeny loving pigs G.O.D D.A.M.N! |

PS- I hate wolverine too, even if i can get baned for it for spites sake |

while i think selling help is going overboard, there is nothing wrong with selling skins, models, terrains, heavy triggers ect. Trying to sell help to somone is rediculos and i doubt it will ever happen so long as there are people around who will help for free. Its when you actually get down to requesting something that requires experiance that you will need points. Personally i think your all overreacting to a few people selling their work for points and your looking at worst case scenarios, try looking on the positive side for once. |

The positive side? What's that? The fact that these days you can't get help from anyone unless you have hundreds of points? Since the point system came, I have yet to see someone give terraining or skinning help for free. They all want these points for their "services". What's the positive side to this? Maybe I'm an idiot, but I can't see one. I'm pretty sure some people have better things to do with their life than to visit this website all the time and post as much as they can just to get a little bit of terraining (or triggering) help and help with skins and models. Because that's pretty much the case right now. If this is the case, I'd rather make real money, buy modelling and skinning programs and do it all myself. The point system is mostly a bad idea in general. There ARE some good points to it, but it'll just continue to be abused too much to be any help. I asked for help terraining a cinematic project I had about a week ago, and NO ONE offered to help me unless they got points for it. Ha. |

some of you guys are missing the wider picture here. Not everyone here is a greedy capitalist: in the modelling forum: me Whitehorn Arkhoon Oinkerwinkle We do models for free or i've at least seen one or two by them. I'm running an entire free model thread but U HAVE TO WAIT (PS. any of u guys complaining nobody does anything come over. lend a hand. go on cos ur so willing to do free stuff) the fact is some epople dont want to wait so they pay points guys stop being narrowminded and relating top everyone as a collective there are a few people who don't quit complaining the points AREN'T REAL |

I do agree people like whitehorn and datajax aren't greedy crooks, but that doesn't make up for all the other greedy crooks here. |

Try going to the Request forum, I guess u have been there? How many posts u see where people actually take points? Then look at the quality... People should be able to see what is worth it and not. And if some crappy recolor is worth 300 points to them, then why not let them ? Personaly I don't want to take points for skins or terrain, but donations is welcome. |

There may some be some good points to this new system, like it chages the aspect of the site, and how it runs, which is good, but overall there are to many negatvie things for it to work fairly, you know what we should do, we should go on strike dump all our points into one guy, have him buy everything and release it for DL then everyone basically gets points for free, we should do that and then it basically shuts down their own idea. . . |
