Im am big user of 3dmax ihav ebeen using Knk exporter for a long time, Yours is grate for single bone objects but when i make abone cahing it really it screwed u it starts zizagin all over the map then attches it sleft to other units placed i select all bones when i exported whats the problem or is this a Glich in the exporter? Im am going to try to get the 3dmax to mdx formator form billzzard i know a few people that worked on wc3 beta. |

They guy that I know emailed me that he might be able to get it. He is a modeler for blizzad and knows some guys who used that plugin. The promble is finding it he doing WoW stuff now and is not shure they are still using the mdx fromat so it might be hard for him to find he said he will be able to tell me within a week if he can get it. I cant tell you his name or email cause this type of thing could make him LOSE his job. If that dose not work i will email blizzard my self about the format and plugin. |

He said with in a week he has other things he has to do such model for WOW. He was kinda upset himself that blizzard would not make this kind of info public when they may not use that format ever again. So by monday I will have my anwser he also said he would to try to find more info on the format if he cant get the plugin. |

With or without their help, someday there is going to be an exporter which will work correctly.And if a BIG company for sowtware development wanted to STEAL it, they wold have no problem, when a couple of fans have almost cracked it.So WHY??? I gess the only reasion why they have not made this public cause some one might use it to villate the e.u.l.g and make a proffit and If he gets it he will give it to me he my brothers best friend he always giving me free solfwere. Yes he can lose his job thats the same as theft but im gessing he going to ask for it first. Blizzard not against mods of their games aslong as dose not villate the e.u.l.g. that dose not mean that they give away info on how the game is made and there plugins. If they do make this stuff Truely public they will probley make a Gmax pack in TFT like some other companies are doing. So wait till monday and you will have your anwser. |

Guest | Listen to this one, I've found out a couple of things. First,I know what's wrong with Rep's Exporter- I've tried it out on Max 4.0, on Max 4.2 and on Max 5.1, but in all of them(save for 4.0 it doesen't seem to work for it) bone rotation IS NOT EXPORTED!! and second, In max 5.1 i saw a thingie called REACTOR Don't know what it is for but: In its' credit it says "HAVOK" and as we all know Havok is the owner of Blizzard and Sierra and a couple of others. And this thingie also has an export button, which has 2 options BINARY AND ASCII. I can't seem to export anything but that sound very suspicios to me.Anybody knowing what that is?? |

I have a couple of question about the exporter: 1) Why does the exporter shrink the model when heexports it, I mean it comes out 4 times smaller then the model in 3dsmax 5 ? 2) There's a problem with exporting certain animations, I mean I made a model that had a Stand, Stand-2 and Attack animations and that worked, but in a original unit MDL I saw an animation called Death and another called Decay and when I tried to make those 2 sequences in the exporter it exported them but didn't work in the game. 3) You do realize that you can only move the bones in the sequencecs ? You cant rotate them ? Why ? and finaly maybe a bit noobish question 4) How do you link the bones to certain specific places, is there a better way then simply dragging the damn envelope around it? Hope you'll answer my questions. P.S. Love your exporter, best I've seen so far :). |

Guest | About Rotation- it's very strange this thingie.Why i'm saying this? Listen to this one. Before getting 3ds max i had GMAX. I used KMK's importer AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY!! Then i got 3ds max and gues what-his exporter screwed up animations if they had bone rotation.And then rep's exporter comes AND it too doesen't export rotation correctly.I suppose there's ONE AND ONLY ONE version of 3ds max that supports bone rotation, but i can't seem to find it out. It's not 4 it ain't either 4.2 nor 5.1 The only one left i think is 5.0,and it is the only one i haven't tried out.So if anybody has max 5.0 i would ask him to do a simple test: Do a box, add a bone to it, ONLY rotate it, then export, and see if ingame the animation works correctly.10x very much. 2.bout the 2 other anims don't know what's wrong with em, perhaps you mistyped em?? They work correctly for me, that's for sure. |
