[Preview] Counterstrike at Quel'Thalas

Here's another Wip skin for the campaign. This will be a "human with elven powers" hero. His working name is Adanion (sindarin for "Son of Mortal"), though I'm considering other options now. He was born in Azeroth and brought to north by Lord Lothar himself just prior to Second War. Afterwards he was adopted by a rich High Elven family living in Silvermoon as a sign of Elven respect of the Alliance. His skills combine human strength and devotion with Elven accuracy and swiftness. More abouth him will be known soon.

Note: the skin's not finished yet. I intend to change the "Lion belt" for something more Elven (perhaps a tree or a star), the sword will also be completely redesigned. Suggestions are welcome, as always.

From what I can tell, this is going to be one of the best non-hosted campaigns I've seen. You have some very good models and skins. On the first page, the terrain and layout was wonderful. Also, you're not just using the basic Elven units (archer, swordsman, priest, sorceress, ranger) and you've come up with several groups of Elves.

Anywho, I take it this campaign takes place after TFT, based on the Blood Elven units and such?

With the Troll siege unit (if you haven't come up with one yet), for my campaign I'm going to have a Trollish Trebuchet. In case you don't know, it's kinda like a catapult but the projectile if fired using a counterweight instead of spring-type firing. *If I remember right from a show I watched like 4 years ago* it was probably the only very effective sieging weapon that was used dutring the dark/middle ages.

EDIT: Oh yes... I'd change the skull on the sword of that last guy u posted ^^

u shud put a leaf on the bealt and giv him a sword like the one that that chick has in lotr here ill find a pic its called hadafang

Arwen's sword? I've actually been comparing it to Anglachel - the sword of flaming star (wielded by Turin in Silmarillion). I'm using the same name in the campaign, though I'll change it later. The guy will get new sword look and that lion replaced. I've actually been thinking more of a tree, but leaf would be also nice. You'll just have to wait and see.



:D Thanks. More terrain will be popped up soon, as well as a new, reworked preview (Altariel is done with all her abilities, Troll base is slowly getting a look of a true troll base, the start of the story (first five missions) is now locked and ready...).

This campaign actually takes place just before, between and just after Frozen Throne. I'm showing where Blood Elves came from, what happened with the rest of the Elves, who didn't agree with his policy, etc. The story actually has several possible endings, depending on actions you'll take (for instance, if you can convince humans of Stromgarde and remaining Thrall's orcs to help you, you won't need to attack the Undead head-on and the last mission will be a lot easier).

As for the siege weapon, I was kinda stuck with the idea of either a catapult or a battering ram. I don't know, trebuchet might be a good idea, but I'd like to explore all...

And as for the sword, that's getting changed. But first I need to change the layout of the whole sword (that d... thing is a bit too beefy :)).

Troll Artillery: Tree Launcher. Works like a ballista crossed with a battering ram :ggani: I think I could probably make a tree launcher if you wanted :ggani:

And now, the news from the front:

I've completed "Undeadification" of Silvermoon (the whole thing, not just the northern half seen in ROC). I'm telling you, it looks great. Of course much still needs to be done, but screenies will be posted soon.

For now, you'll have to be happy with four shots I've made yesterday. On the first you can see a Troll base (not entirely completed yet) with Troll Slaves in the front mining gold and a Warhall in the back (still further back is Voodoo Log, current equivalent of Arcane Sanctum - that's to be changed later).

Second Screenshot contains another shot of Troll base, or rather a small fraction of it. Now you can see the Family Hall and Slaves again from a bit different perspective.

Next is a concpet picture only. I'm working on Wood Elf Village concept and I came up with idea to put their buildings on/in/around large trees that their workers would grow. Though the houses are not "Elven" yet, you can see the basic idea.

That's not a city, that's a Temple (of Sun). And you actually need to break in there to get something out, while the Blood Elves are protecting it. Belive me, it's not an easy task... But I think Silvermoon will impress you more...

to tell u the truth i cant wait til this cums out. if sumthing looks better then the temple it is worth playing.
