Ok that pretty much answered itself, but when i open my frozen throne map in your editor and add cliffs via Map Properties (custom tileset checked), and add the cliff and matching tile to the map, save, and open in world edit, the cliffs don't appear. Can someone please help? |

It's not a problem with my editor. It's just not supported by War3 (both ROC and TFT). To make it clear: in the map file format, one can add as many cliff tilesets as he/she wants to in the list of custom cliff tilesets, in the "ground definition" only 16 of these can be used for each kind of little square on the map and finally, "in game" the war3 engine just ignores these and uses the default cliff tilesets for this map type. However, custom tilsests work fine with ground. BTW, custom cliff tilsets used to work with war3 beta (the february 2002 one). Maybe (which means there is "1%" chances it'll be done) in a next W3Z version, there'll be a fix that allows you to use custom cliffs by "tweaking" the War3 engine. |

Hi :D it just work fine for me... I create the map via your editor - adding up to 16 tileset and 4 cliffs, then use FyreDaug's TFTWE ( don't think UMSWE 3.7 features this, probably the next release ) et voilà magique! :D (see wonderful pic below) Don't have tried this in game since I've installed TFT, but if you import the terrainart/terrain.slk and terrainart/clifftypes.slk (those included with FyreDaug's TFTWE) into your map, this should work (at least it uses to work with RoC) For more info look for Kharma's (thanks to him) thread "dispensing the myth of 16+ tiles", or something like this... [to Zepir] Quand est ce que tu sort la version définitive ??? :ggani: [/to Zepir] |

Nice pic! ;-D [to exN]Answer in PM. ;p [EDIT: exN your PM box is full...] [private for exN] [séquence pleurs ON] Bouhouhou!!! Zep [/private] [/edit] Quote:

Ok... I am not good with Coding, or computer talk. I downloaded your editor hoping that you can have more than one cliff type (Infact thats the only reason I dled it). Why is it in a 2-d view? I know its like for WC2 as well as WC3, but wtf? I looked thru the toolbars, and everything was so confusing. There was something called 3-D view but it wasnt availible. The cliffs are all in their codes (I know about the codes somewhat cuz I did custom spells the old way for awhile). Plz tell me how to add cliffs (Possibly not with their original codes) and how to activate "3-D" View. BTW I am not a newb at editing, I am just clueless with the whole view and all. ://// |

About the cliff, look at the previous post in this thread. (same about 3D) There is no 3D view right now and I know all seems really complicated. The thing is that it takes time to write such a program, especially if you have to make it from scratch, if you have no help from Blizzard and if you do it for free during your "free time". If I was free enought, I would have add many features like 3D, detailled names for everything, I would have made "easyer to use" tools and good tutorials. So I'm sorry but you'll have to deal with it right now and try to figure out by yourself how things works. Quote:

i really wonder how you could understand the .pud... I just dont get how you make it convert. How you understand that .pud ... What do you open it in? I opened it in text editor and i saw almost only alot of squares. BTW when will new version come out? What new features will be in it? |
| 11-03-2003, 06:53 PM | #129 |
Markus, you don't open it in a Texteditor as it's binary data. Use a Hexeditor ot open it and get the file structure specifications of pud files. |

file structure specifications? Whaaat? I dont understand... I have a hex editor and when i opened it in that i didn't just see squares, i saw @ and y and some others but i still dont understand a thing |

1) Get a WORKING Hex Editor. Examples: Hex Workshop, UltraEdit32,... Some Hex editors display hexadecimal numbers AND their character equivalents. You have to look at the right values. 2) If you don't understand that stuff, then either forget about it or learn some theory on Binary and Hexadecimal numbers and how files are stored in computer systems. |

I just wonder where in the file the ground thing is... I'd love to learn that binary and whatever you said but i dont know where or how... |

Just to make sure things are clear: ".pud" files are maps from Warcraft 2. These contain binary data wich is a way different from the War3 maps like the differences between 2D and 3D. Then, if you want to learn about pud files format, just go there: http://members.nuvox.net/~on.billw/PudBrowser/pud.txt or there: http://bushong.net/~xcraft/pudspec.shtml or... well: http://www.google.ca/search?q=pud+fi...-8&hl=fr&meta= :) Then, about the next version... I dunno when. I always got many many things to do and I hardly find time to work for the War3 communauty. But I don't forget my 'product' is not a 'finished product' and I'll try to add 3D view and if I find the time (no comment) I'll add a plugins feature. |

is that tut you posted recent? and do you really have to extract all those files? can you use a map you already have and then change pathing and replace the files? i cant figure it out :( im stupid |
