No, I should imagine this project's quite a ways off. The first testing, at least, might be by the end of January, perhaps? We essentially need the tech tree completely hammered out, a few models and/or skins, and some rudimentary balance. After that, the modeling and voice acting will take a good long time. It's hard to say. (Will depend, of course, on how many people we can get to work, and how dutifully they work) I've got my fingers crossed. I imagine for the testing, we'll just send the progress to those who have aided or shown interest to us in the past, rather than putting it up for download. We'll see, though. (Wow. ok this may sound stupid - but is there a picture of that tauren dude you posted TiJiL, one from the side, one from the back, one from the front, all directly like that, then you could have the perfect reference :) i done this ages ago, just one of those skills i want to be perfect at, then edit the model in the way i wanted. i would have done this with my previous models - but it just re-occured to me that i was quite good at doing this this may sound "evil" to some people, but it will help in the characters creation, but i will not release the model to the public, only to TiJiL |

Im startign work on a 2v2 map, but Im still trying to work out how to get the Image Extractor working. Anyway, 2v2 map will be different than anything you have seen released from blizzard :infth: TiJiL, could you post what you have for buildings and units for the race?, could help having peoples perspective on the techtree n stuff. |

when this race is done, perhaps u could start a.... er... furblog race..... or maybe.... er.... demons, perhaps, u know u start in the twisting nether, and assimilate world after world :ggani: :ggani: or... no! maybe even a harpy race, u have to battle the taurens, and the 2 campaigns could go side by side ;) . |

Looks good, Rabid. Just keep it as is for now, while we think up a name. So, second order of business... What should we be called? 3. We ought to get a website running soon, don't you think? Looks like this project might actually get moving, so perhaps hosting is the way to go. 4. Yep, Frostigt. When we finish this one, if we still want to do more, we'll make more races. Cant u just call the upgrade place smiths hut/tent (k, not a very idea, but i got to think of something...) and u didnt want the spirit walker huh? otherwise, thats an ready unit waiting to be used, otherwise, distibute his spell among the others, cuz u need to keep those spirit stuff eh? oh and another thing i thought of, u should make critters that looks like kodos, then u would be able to make the trainer in the muddhole that can take a kodo and use it in the mechanihcal critter way.... And about the mod name... jeez thats a hard one... for now ant u just call it the survival of the tribes or sumthing...? oh and is this prior to ROC or not...? |

No, I don't want the Spirit Walker. (Nor the Chieftain, nor the normal tauren). Personally, I'd like to make the tauren work with the four original races. I do not know how well this can be done, but here's essentially what I think. If at all possible, I'd like each new race we make to be 100% unique, compatable, and balanced with the original four races. However, if this system forces us to compromise some part of our new races, then we'll just eliminate the old ones. My major fear is that we may not be able to get race-specific sounds or UI. If this happens, I suggest we just forget the previous races. Oh, and this takes place after ROC, as the tauren have united and relocated, for the most part, to Mulgore. And as for a name... I don't really know. Perhaps the Tauren of Mulgore? Another thing I'd like to post is my daydreams about the eventual progress of this project. (I doubt it'll ever get this far, but it's nice to dream) 1. Get the spells, a few models, and some rudimentary balance finished, then test the alpha version amongst ourselves and any close friends we may have, but we must not distribute it very far. 2. Finish models, tileset, UI, sounds, and adjust balance as indicated by alpha testing. Create this as beta test and distribute to a slightly larger audience, but still not up for general download. 3. Make any necessary fixes and then release to public. 4. Begin work on a second race 5. Make tauren tileset and creeps and create a campaign about them. 6. Repeat steps until 4 races and 4 campaigns are done. As I said, not likely, but fun to believe. |

I dont think a orcs and taurens would fight in battles after TFT, but then i dont think undead would ally against orcs and humans (b.net), so what do i know.... This means FORGET THE OLD RACES!! |

I was thinking, sitting here while the snow pounds down around the house, that another race shoudl be the pandarens. I know that they were an April Fools joke and all, but think about it, it would be pretty sweet to have a race thats all about alcohol :-P. But seriously, I think they could fit in perfectly, since there are already 3 heros laid out in the read me thingy on b.net. And they come from Kalimdor, as do the tauren. The other two races could possibly be Harpies, centaur, quillboars, or dreanie (ehhh, thats iffy) I still cant get my damn image extractor to work, and using teh WinMPQ doesnt seem to work either, taht just takes it out, but I cant modify the tiles. |
