TERRAINING CLAN!!!! (Dont Vote Yet)

Ok, WGW is fine, I don't care about the name anymore. I just want something so we can continue on our list of missions. I think that the idea of a critiquing level is a great idea. I will put myself at a 1 so I can deal with newcomers at terraining (mainly because I still am one).

Cool. I like that last one petray. Nice touch with the keeper statue and the fountain.

About our name, WGW is kinda hard to say, and it doesn't really flow. Warcraft Worldscapes sounds nice, and it rolls off the tongue. Guild is also overused.

What will the council be? Will it be like the president's cabinet or something? I'm not understanding the purpose of having a 6 member council...

Oh and I hardly ever play b.net, so I'll probably be on the forums mostly.

EDIT I like World Designs better than Warcraft Worldscapes btw.

World Design is better! its even more simple than the other one, more basic. It just sounds better. I dont like long clan names, and using words for clan (like guild, association, CLAN, etc) in the actual clan name. World Design is up front, basic, it tells you what we do. Design worlds (well we ARE limited (kind of) in w3 but you get the idea).

I kinda like that now. We are still telling people that we Craft Worlds (A very cool thing to think about) And using 'Craft' like in Warcraft...

I'm changing my CL to 2, You're right, I think that 3 is bold and daring. I just hope this system wont be abused or anything. Thanks for the comments on my screenshot. Let's see if we can get Demon_Dream to give us a faction on his site. That way we can start getting more organized topics and not just stick to this massive one :D

For our name all we need is something that describes what we're doing and is easy to say.
World Design(ers) is good
Worldcraft is ok but it sounds too much like warcraft and people might get confused.
Warcraft's Guild Of Worldscapes, now that I think of it, it's just too long

I think we should use World Design(ers[I think it might be better if we add "ers" to the end, it just makes more sense]) and move on.

how do you mean? as individuals? Either way, After everything is all sorted out, we should find some hosting.

If you, the people of the terrain clan are still intrested in a section on the Terrain Forum. I ask that some one sends me a PM with what your needs are. Eg) What types of sctions do you need? Who are the members of the Terrain Clan? What Ranks do you guys need? and so forth. If your leader could send PM. Thanks.

Great News Everybody!

We now have a host for our clan!
Here is the site

Demon_Dream was generous enough to give us some space on his terraining forum to gather our ideas and mechanics. This spot can be used as a temporary location until we get an official site up or whatnot.
Keep in mind, as you enter the site, It was just made so there is no WC scheme (yet) It is still under development; but be sure to register and check in! I'll be starting a membership Thread. DarkAngel: I hope you don't mind my taking the reigns for a second or 2.. or making this kind of decision. If anybody has any concerns, remember that nothing is permenent and i will always listen to what you have to say. :ggani: remember: This doesn't mean we have to abandon WC3C.

Whew, Somebody said something! well, I think we can start to organize things there. I haven't heard from DarkAngel for awhile. Ultimately, he is the one to decide where we go from here. I think we should start setting things up over there. At least clan stuff. :D

Anyway, like I said before, the Terrain Store will serve as a place for our members to talk about the clan.

As for ranks and forums, it goes like this.

FORUMS
Main Forum- We'll need our own forum for members to talk about the clan. This forum will be where anyone can post things about terraining (as long as it pertains to the clan [i.e. Tutorials, contests, questions, people who want their terrain commented on by the clan, etc.])
Also, DD, do you know if you have Password protected forums? Could you ask Mister-Peepers if you can have them?
Private/Password Forums- We'll also need a forum for just members. It would be better if this were just password protected, otherwise you might as well forget about it.
The last forum needed is a private forum for the council. This can also be password protected or just a private forum. If not passworded, then only allow the council members in. The councelors should have mod powers over the clan's forum as well.

RANKS
Member- The lowest rank in the group, these are people who have just joined, or are not very active in the group. They have no powers over the clan's government. They may NOT submit tutorials.
Active Member- These are members who have shown an interest in the group and are normally active. They take part in events, contests, and give advice when asked. However, they still have no direct powers in the clan's government, but can give ideas to the council or respected members. They also may NOT submit tutorials.
Respected Member- These members are very active in the group and submit work often. They take part in events and contests, and give advice. They can also become judges in terrain contests if they wish. Respected members can give ideas to the council, and can submit their own tutorials.
Counselor- Counselors act as the government of the clan. They have all the powers of respected members, but they have the power to vote on policies of the clan. They will also have moderator powers on the clan's forum.

I think that sums up the site thing. So, on to the name!

World Design/ World Designers= :nono:
First off, we can't use world design because it's not really original. I don't want our name to mimic that of another organization. Personally I think Worldscapes is best. It's original, and it says what we make. Plus, it's incredibly simple. And the abbreviation looks like this: W-S or just WS
Anyway, We need to stop arguing about a name.

About your pic, Petray. A couple of things I noticed.

The ashenvale trees need to be lowered. You can see where they are floating above the ground. Also, the big waterfall. I can see where the waves from the bottoms of the multiple waterfalls are. They shouldn't be in the middle of the waterfall. Just make 2-3 waterfalls that are large enough to cover the area that you want to be the actual waterfall and place them on top of one another.

Thanks! First of all, Those ranks are great. :D I agree entirely on the powers that each rank holds.
Next-the name, I agree also, I don't want it to sound like i'm sucking up, but I really didn't like World Designers. Worldscapes is orignal and so forth. That should be our name. You've already heard it all; Anywho, I think it would be more convenient to have the whole clan hosted on one of the 2 sites. I understand what you mean by making that spot our home, I think your idea will work great if/until we make our own site for all of our wherabouts. That is really distant future if ever, We shouldn't worry about that yet. Thus, we shall use both sites for seperate activities. I'm happy that you aren't concerned about my actions in starting the subforum on Demon's site. :D

As for your comments on the screenshot:
I know the trees look like they are floating, but surprisingly, they ARE lowered. I think it's because that back one is on a cliff, looks kinda weird. For the waterfall, I made one big one, then put a couple little ones behind it to give the effect of texture behind it; like, there are rocks behind it that the water flows around/over, thanks for the advice though! :D (3500 Doodads just in that small corner of a 64x64 :D)
EDIT: OH! I see what you mean about the waterfalls! It turns out that there is a stream below the big waterfall. The camera angle makes an illusion that the smaller falls are a part of it, really, they arent! emote_sweatIt looks something like this:(See Pic below)
