Ah, those r good Ideas, I dont like the idea of invincible merchants for $3000. I want the hero himself to take care of the merchants he/she wants. And about Item Decay, since the bandits have to spawn somewhere, Ill just make the spawns in towns, so if u leve an item in town, the bandits get to it faster. I like the leaderboard Idea, I think Ill use that. And about the house theif boss, I dont like that, houses shud be safe. And bosses will have trigger set abilities, and special ways to be killed, like I said before, not just normal abilities. AND... I dont like the idea of Xtra heroes, I want it to be based around your main hero alone.

What's this? Somebody with orgininal ideas? Wow, I didn't think that existed anymore. Some of these features are going to be pretty sweet. I especially like the towns having a dispostion to your hero, its going to be like Fable :ggani:

Hehe, I got a few (a thousand) original ideas. All are going in the BIG Open RPG warcraft3gathering.com will be making sometime after the release of TFT.

Are you a complete loon??? I mean the map sounds like it's gonna be, like, on the top-ten list of 'Greates mapa ever', or something. But this is a insane task you have taken here...

This going to require trigger, after trigger, after trigger. I haven't tried the TFT WE, so I have (more or less) no idea what's going to be new there... but I shure hope it will help you. 'Cuz ur gonna need it ;)

I played a RPG on battle.net the later day (Artistaur's Darkness, or something like that) the map was really good, and had over 700 triggers (I convinced the maker to send me an un-protected version:ggani: ) And he said thet he had spent 7 months on making it... And he didn't create anythngi like an AI, but he was going to do it, for a undead faction (Used the skirmish AI... not smart)

Your map is going to require tons more triggers that his map uses (Unless you have found some magicall way to do, lets say, AI.)

And with that manny triggers, etc... how are you going to keep the lag away?


Well..... the idea sounds greate, and rulez big time, but it seems like it is un-accomplishable. And even if you did make it, you would spend *months* making it. (Maby even as much as a year...)

Well if u think its so great, and so impossible, wud u like to help me? I can do everything myself except I need someone to check everything after its done to see if its ok, and um... I dunno, I really just need someone to supervise, Another triggerer wud be nice, cuz triggering is a big *** thing, its hard for one person to know everything, but another triggerer wil lgreatly reduce the time it takes to do this.

Edit: Oh ya, and to reduce lag, Im gonna reduce the ammount of players, what sounds good? 4? 6? I know there will still be laggers, and Ill see what I can tone down, Once Im done with the map, Im gonna go over EVERYTHING. Im gonna make sure the triggers are as simple as possible(To prevent lag) And make sure everything is balanced, and feels right. Then Ill test it with sum friends, THEN Ill release it

Edit 2: Oh ya, I also need help with Ideas, Im gonna make it so each class can get an upgrade, like an assassin might be able to get an upgrade where he can *Jump* to any unit he right clicks on.(Not a spell tho, just somehting that happens, I was thinking of making a unit that once he was upgraded, he teleported around instead of walking, but that wud be too hard to control and keep him out of places, so I wont do that unless sumone gives me a reasonable way to do it)

Triggers take some time, but testing and debug take more - especially on a multiplayer RPG.

Tips:

- Average completion time less than 1h 30m.
- Allow for each player to control more than one unit, but not too many.
- Complexity is not always the wine of choice for BNet players; keep the complex simple to understand.
- Use cinematics sparingly: nothing is more annoying than having every merchant or villager pause the action to tell you their story.
- Don't make the death system too punishing or too lenient.
- Be original with creep strategem. Most people won't care about owning a house or interacting with villagers. This creates problems when you have different types of players wanting to do their own thing.

Thats y its an Open RPG ppl can leve when they want, time is unlimited,
Im going to have plenty of features so every type of player will play...In fact, I think I might add mini games like TAG and SOCCER and Im also thinking about RACING

dont say "Ohh! Thats too much blah blah blah" I can do it, I did it in Starcraft, I can do it in this, btw, that SC map WAS phat, it never got completed tho.. I ran outa locations... It was cool, there was a place where u cud ride a tank and run over civilians, a place where u cud spawn any unit u wanted and just play with him, there were 4 mazes(One was a teleport maze) there was a picture drawing thing where there were 5 rows/columns, and u put a unit on row 1 column 5 and it wud puta Dark Archon at the intersection, so u cud make desisngs and stuff, ppl loved that one. There was a goliath race, there was Tag, and Soccer too! It was riight around there where I ran outa locations... Oh ya, there was also a "Free Build area" Where u can get a free SCV Drone or Probe, and just have fun, mebe make an RPG and stuff, ANd there were 3 heroes at the bottom that when u step on their beacon, it makes a reaver that goes to another beacon, and when it gets there u get the hero... It was a great map... too bad it never got finished :( OH yea!!! There was an explosion room too, where everything just exploded for fun, and u cud step on beacons to make more explosions, it was awesome... I miss that map...

OH YA! Back to THIS map... Ya, so I CAN do it, it WILL take a long time, but it WILL be great.

And, there will be NO cinematics

I agree with the death thing

And my whole goal here is too be original with EVERYTHING creeps will be original, there will be certain spawn points, and random creep *Huts* will spawn there if one is empty, However, each spawn point will have its own type, so u cant kill a fire creature hut and have an Ice creature hut replace it Creeps will be spawned at random times at their huts.

Never played Zelda but this sounds like one of the classic RPG styles. Sounds like a good setup if implemented well.

None of the features you posted would be impossable. We could trigger all of them...including the shopkeepers. So could several other people around here. If you do get someone to help with triggering make sure they know what they are doing and have a lot of experiance. If not you will end up with a buggy mess that will take forever to troubleshoot.

Long feature lists are nice and will help attract ppl to the game but what will keep them playing is overal game quality. Dont ever sacrafice quality for a cool sounding feature. We would much wrather have 5 cool features that work than 10 buggy ones. We would hate to see someone go through all this effort and have it only played for about a week.

Think Dead-Inside is wondering around here without a major project. Ask him about doing the triggering. If CrydGod isnt buisy with something he would be another good one to ask. We could help with some of the realy tough stuff but after TFT we will be verry buisy with our own projects.

Its not that I cant do the stuff, Im posotive I can do everything, but I want to go further, If I got another triggerer, he might be able to help me make new ways to kill units, cuz Im gonna need lots, I need sumone who knows the limitations of triggers AND can give me good Ideas.

And if I cant get a triggerer, plz, I still want a supervisor

Let's just hope that your not one of those that get started with a big (BIG) project like this, talks about it for a long time, and then silently disappears into the night, never to be seen again.

Anyways as to helping you... hah! I'm not nearly qualified to take on something as big as that. It's not that I wouldn't like to help you... (I really would. I't would be kinda cool to have my nick written in some map somwhere on b.net sometime, if only at the bottom of the credits ^^) It's just that I'm not good enough at it. I've just only gotten started with WE for real, a few weeks ago. And now I'm just getting good at custom spells (and then - just as my one and only custom map is ready *FILLED with custom spells* blizzard figures out that it is a good idea to release that patch... probably my own mistake, tough... didn't pay enough attention...)

I'm good at cinematics, tough... but you said that you were not going to do that so, again I'm useless. I'm good at creating units, but who can't do that? So... what use could I be of, then? Let's see.... I know! I can make trees grow back after u kill them! :////

The only reason I may have been a bit negative is beacouse I suspect(ed?) that you were one of those that talk lots and do nothing.

No I dunno how to change profile I think u change yur own just by tripple clicking on name or sumthin...

Anyway, why do u try to make yurself out to be useless?

Im NOT one of those talk a lot and do nothing guys Im the kind of guy who talks a lot, gets all the ideas down... Gets halfway thru the map gets confused.. gets REALLY confused, realizes something terrible that will take hours to fix... Slowly begins fixing... Then fixes slower and slower until it is half way fixed and I have given up all hope...

Anyway, That wont be the case here Im going to get all these features in, then scrap the ones that dont fit. BTW the towns r neat the way if there r no guards around and u walk around, a guy might pop out from behind a house and jump u, its really cool, and the kids when they touch u run around like crazy afterwards, its neat, but I wont put too many kids in the map or it is stupid with masses of kids runnign at u, then running away... Its best with 1 at a time, or 2, so ANYWAY I WILL finish this, it WILL be perfect, and I NEED supervision

Feel free to send us whatever you want. We wont promis we will do anything with it. We might be too buisy doing other things. But if we arnt we would be happy to give you a hand and maybe even some ideas. If we like what you are doing we might do a lot with it, you never know.
