EDIT--AHH Sorry, You cnat pick multiple things in poll, just pick yur favorite Hey, Im making a new RPG, I decided to make it from (My own ideas) from the "What would you like out of an RPG" Thread My map will feature -towns that actually react to your character, with like, hate, fear, or awe. -Shopkeeps that travel from town to town -Shopkeeps that can be robbed while going between towns by players OR by computer bandits, either way, the shopkeep you like may not be seen again(But he probably will since I cant have an infinite number of them, so hell respawn eventually) -Enemies that require special strategies to kill, Like getting hit in the back -Bosses that require much more skill to defeat -Enemy *Domains* that once a boss is defeated, another moves in -Strategic Items, some trigger enhanced -Houses you can buy that actually help you(Houses can be built too, but only one can be owned at a time) -Factions like town guard, bandits(Not too many tho) -Im trying to think of a way to make heroes more unique as well... But I havnt thought of anything yet -Also, I will try my hardest to make the objective(To defeat each domain, then kill ultimate boss) not so much top prioroty. I dont want people to simly hack through each Domain and fight the ultimate boss, yet I dont wany people to have to spend too much time in a Domain and get bored. I also want people to have fun interecting with bandits and townsfolk, so there will be rewards for mostly everything you do -The map will feature Item decay, Items that are stolen by bandits if left on the ground too long -Feel free to take any Ideas ppl! -Plz give input about the map -=Help=-Ok, to begin all this awesome stuff... First Im doing the terrain, but Im having a problem. There are only 2 cliffs I can use, and im trying to make an Ice cave. Also, when I make the fire place I will run into the same problem... Those r the only 2 things, but I need a way to make the walls LOOK Icy and Firey, without too many doodads! ----Please give input on how you would like heroes to evolve/change/upgrade as you play, so that although you make use the same starting hero as someone else you come out completely different! -=Help=-Also, if anyone is good with special effects triggers, if I can, I want to make items that create effects on you, like glows and perhaps neat spell effects, I saw a neat skull one from a real life map, it looks awesome, but I see no way to get rid of it, and only it, plz help ALSO-- Im Considering, but You guys will have to beg for it if you really want it, cuz it will be time consuming :) About making the computer bosses actual people, not just people who sit in the back of their castle and do nothing, I might make them do things like attack towns (With units that can be killed normally I suppose) Or if the domain has previously defeated, the boss will send bounty hunters of his type(Fire, Ice, Etc...) to kill you, and the Necromancer boss could become more powerful from every corpse left alone at night (A gravedigger can be activated during the day to remove corpses) The bosses themselves might even do things, and domains will fight each other and a domain left undefeated for too long will become more powerful(Bigger) Than the rest. Also, wandering heroes that run around (Not in domains) And kill things, gain EXP, kill shopkeeps, become bandits or heroes(Random) And might try to kill you, and they WILL Take any item that is close enough to them. Maybe even domains can be taken over by other domains and the hero of the destroyed one will simply wander around(So he can still be defeated) |

Well...I must say...It's a Great idea. Though I don't know exactly how you are going to make it. After all there are some things (I'm sure of it) that are VERY hard to make. I mean the shop keepers as example. (Well, I don't have a clue how to make those. But then again. Im not all that good in Triggers) Though I must say that it is a great idea. I was also thinking about such things. But it is so hard to do. And still with a painful arm it would be even harder. But I wish you a whole lot of luck with it. Anyway, I voted for cities/villages that changes by your character (Or something =P) I thought that 'That' was a good idea. (As a matter of fact. I was making one in a RPG of mine. But it didn't took really long before I lost intrest in it and left it) Well, once again. I wish you a whole lot of luck with it. And I really REALLY hope that this is going to finish. For now, put all those ideas aside, then think about how frickening UBER it would be to have a full remake of a zelda game. Houses that you can walk into, people that talk to you, and so on (sorta like you said). Dungeons with bosses that have certain weaknesses, but most importantly an inventory system, and no tomes, or little gloves and stuff to get..... Some of your ideas I like, but others wouldnt fit into a Zelda RPG....For the units that are original, and so on, id just make new custom models, or maybe skin a few. |

Guest | its funny that you mention zelda, i have been thinking back to zelda while designing my map (for inspiration). and i was also thinking about how great a zelda mod would be. i was thinking more of the orignal NES version, so the towns and that kind of jazz wouldnt be as involved-- but it would still be GREAT. i'd go as far as i can with this idea if i was you. |

yea it does sound as if it should be a mod not just a map... and each domain should be a seperate map itself in a campaign fashion.. |

Item Decay, Makes it more like Zelda game. Houses that are good for something - I don't see a reason unless there is some quest involved. Or if you can store items there... Units that require backstabs and such to defeat - Only for bosses Bosses that are replaced with others after death - Don't really care Towns that react to your character - Maybe only make a few, like make a mayor and council, but not whole towns. Factions - That isn't a zelda game, but adds some new twist. Maybe it could change part of your hero's stats and add quests NO TOMES! - Let's see... YES!!! Shopkeeps that go town to town and can die - Huh? You mean shop keepers can die? No way. |

for the SFX thing you have to set it to a variable then do remve special effect on that variable when unit drops/manipulates the item. and as for cliffs, search for 'myth' thread by kharma... sonme really cool stuff goin on there. |

Item Decay-good Houses that are good for something - used for...? Units that require backstabs and such to defeat - bosses only! Bosses that are replaced with others after death - Kinda cheap... but cool Towns that react to your character - YES! i would want ppl to fear me! Factions - cool NO TOMES! - SECOND BEST IDEA HERE!!!!! Shopkeeps that go town to town and can die - thats virtually impossible to make. anything that selects a hero (ability) is automatically invulnerable, but it would be cool this would make an awsome mod! |

aww... i was thinking of making a game like that... but mine will be WAY BETTER j/k Well heres some "ideas" for you Most importantly... WAIT!!! get the expansion first, tons of new stuff is ganna be added to the editor, like, spell editor, item editor, and, you can load maps from a map, so you can have different levels be different terrains and stuff like that. Im ganna make a multi map game when it comes out, with like 10 or so differnt maps in it, so that everything doesnt have to be the same terrain. ---Since i just recently in the past week beat a zelda game--- 1.) In boss castles or whatever, make sure you have secret passages for secret stuff, explodable walls, moveable statues(make a unit look like a building or something, and if its attacked, make it move by offset of the attackers facing angle.) i just used something like that in a bound game i made. 2.) That boss thing where they mess with the towns and stuff would be a good idea, cause if gives a great motive on why you should kill him, rather then "well thats what he did, go kill him!" 3.) In some AOS rpgs, they have it where at levle 10 you evolve to a new hero, do something like that, but keep leveling up limited to wher eyou are, so you cant just camp in level 1 area and be massive super hero. If you wait till exp to do that, you can continue the chain of spells they use, and just make them a little better each time. 4.) With the merchants roaming around, add special quests for excort services. 5.) If you ever played diablo, you could get scrolls that do spells, maybe customize some items so they have special abilities when you use them(im ganna try to do something like that if i make a diablo game with some sorc spells.) 6.) Make bosses be smart. Not just run around kill kill, run back, have a sort of AI for them, so they do special things. Try to think back to if you ever played a zelda game, make some bosses like that(ex. there is this flying eye with balls around it, the balls shield it so it cant get hurt, it randomly fires them around, and you gotta kill those balls before you can hurt the boss) (ohyea, flying units in the expansion have ZERO clutter, so they can fly through eachother.) I got the beta :D Im not too sure how ur games ganna work, if its an open rpg, or whatever, some of those ideas might not work if thats the case, but hope u can use them :) If you wanna email me, [email protected] |

Ok, time to reply to the big things I saw About 1- When I say zelda style, I dont mean Im making a new zelda, ont know the games enough, I mean im gonna take their Ideas, like bosses, units, Maybe some others 2- This is going to be an Open RPG, Ive decided that there will be the ultimate boss, but he wont be the end, defeating the ultimate boss simply gets you one of the many awards I will have. That way, people can try to get the most awards or all awards or what ever 3- Quests, The awards will be the quests, they will all be in the optional quests because there is no victory, so you can learn what awards you get in the quests menu, and when u beat a quest, it will be a completed quest and u get an award, I might make it so u can see the award on your unit 4- Houses are going to be placable anywhere except inside domains, like I said, and you can have things to regenerate health and mana in them, and bandits cant get to Items in your house, so there is no item decay. So, you can put your house near a place you hunt often, or a place with no fountains around and be able to heal. 5- Shopkeeps that die. This is definately the hardest thing I have to do, but it is possible. Their units can be set to variables, and shopkeeps Will be invulnerable when in town, but when in caravan form(A NEW UNIT) They will be vulnerable. 6- Ill elaborate on the things bosses do. Each boss will have a specific thing he does, like one of the fire bosses might try to raid as many caravans as he can, so until he dies, he will continue raiding them(In person) BUT I dont want boses to be killed outside of their domain, so they will be invilnerable, and dissappear once a hero gets close enough to them, and leave you to deal with their guards. 7-MOD/CAMPAIGN? Im not going to make this a mod or a campaign, Ill incorporate custom spells, and maybe skins, but Nothing outside of a single map, I want this to be playable on Bnet 8-Bosses that are replaced, I dont knowif you understand why, but each boss is unique changing his domain when he comes in, and this is also so a domain is never completely defeated 9-IM NOT GOING TO- Make domains defeatable like I said before, I might not even make them too expandable HELP 1- I need help designing an inventory system 2-I need plenty more support, thanks for everything guys, but if u really want this done, you have to keep this alive with posts People Mech_1000- Sorry, none of that escort thing. And I will try for explodable walls. And I will do that Xtra stuff with boss like flying Eyes and neat spells. And it is Open RPG Bloody Sorcerer- Why are the replacable bosses kinda cheap? Well...Maybe I got some ideas.... But first (And again) good luck with it. It looks so hard And are you sure those triggers aren't hard to make? I mean the villages/cities changes with your Character. And the Shopkeepers being killed? (I am trying that too but...it isn't going well :P) -Just some random things Maybe you can make a Leaderboard that says your reputation. If you do certain quests your Reputation can go up or down. If it is 100% up then maybe the people will be very nice to you, item prices become lower etc. You get more evil enemies. (Uhm...Undead perhaps?) And if you have 0% in reputation people will be afraid of you or just dont like you. Prices also become higher and the evil guys will help you. (Like selling items and stuff or something) -Just some random things 2 For the shop keepers : You can hire some units from a merchenarie to protect the shopkeeper. And the lesser the cost. The weaker they are. Example : 500 Gold - 50% that he gets attacked. (Not defeated, that depends on the enemy) 1000 Gold - 30% that he gets attacked 3000 Gold - 5% that he gets attacked, if he DOES get attacked then you will have a 100% chance win. And sometimes he even give you money/items. That the creep/bandit dropped. -Just some random things 3 =P Maybe a Inn in some villages (Or a tavern) where you can hire a hero, for a price. (Or they will be permanent or they will leave after a certain time) Or you hire some (Strong) hero's but you first must do a quest for them. -Just some random things 4 =P :D An other group. I don't really think that only you (The player) are the only adventurer there. Maybe you can find some other groups of adventurers. Or you maybe even need the help of one of them to defeat a boss. About the item decay Perhaps the items should dissapear sooner when you leave it in a crowded place. (Taverns, in the center of a city etc.) About your own house Can one of the bosses send a master thief to your house and steal some things. (Some items or whatever you have in there) About the bosses I hope they have something specials...Not just normal abilletys. I mean attacks. Not just anything else. Special attacks. Something else about bosses Maybe some traps in the bosses rooms. Remember they live their. They know the place THEY can put traps. (Statis Trap, Mines etc.) Well, I guess that's all.
