New trigger comp and site up

What happened with the first comp failures? I know I failed in my first submission due to not reading the min distance thing. I'd like to know whether my second one would have succeded for learning purposes. Any chance you can tell those of us interested in learning from defeat what was wrong? Seems pointless to have a competition with only the successes acknowledged...even 10th place at the olympics is a place ;)

Cheers

Look at the top of the map FyreDaug. There are spots for units to apear from both input and answer. Look at the regions there to see the general idea.

He did say something in the other thread about asking about your entry and he would point out what went wrong.

I know that HiveMind, I'm asking if the units have to appear and you punch in a number. If I punch in 16 x 14, does it actually have to have the units SHOWING 16 x 14, or can that be text.

Lol, im just imagining a multiplayer warmath type thing.
Someone inputs equasions and the first person to solve them gets a point or whatever. First to 25 wins!

Oh didnt understand what you ment Fyre. Dont think so. Says text is optonal. We didnt do text at all. Just the units.

Not too bad of a contest! Took me about an hour to gte the units to show up.. I made some good regions and the GUI interface was actually easier then. I think I kept it around the ideas of.. 8 or 9 triggers... and Not too many lines... Gotta love the for loop and the if statements.

I'll send it to you tomorrow night when I get back to my house. Just have to finish the answer sections.

You have to have units appear as you enter the numbers. You can't only display text to show what numbers are being entered. So it's either show units, or show units and display text.

Can we change the collision size of the units to 0? i'm having a problem with my triggers having the waterelemental move cause he has no place to be placed

Also can we make it so units have point values that match up with the numer they are?

Yes that's fine.

I wasn't sure if you would get this unless i posted it

For the competition do you have to be able to input decimal problems or can it just give you answers with decimals in it?

Kharma u have to make up your mind. Can we alter the units point value?
In the rules it says and I qoute:
Quote:
-You may not edit the units in any way except to rename the extra units given for the advanced category to reflect the function they represent

Another question.
May we use dialogs? Since u can use an unit selection to activate it i dont see any reasons why one could not use them. But to be on the safe side I ask.

I seem to be having a problem with 7(the gargoyle). Whenever i move him, the base moves, but the gargoyle model doesn'y. Can i use a different Unit Or model as 7 to fix that? Or is that part of the challenge...

Alright, I didn't have any problems with the gargoyle unit but some people told me they have. So yes, if you are having problems with it you may replace it with another unit.

My previous post was in reference to the changing of the collision size, if you are also having problems with that. Point value is designed to stay the way it is. I'm going to be mean and nasty about that one :gsmile:.

You define the decimal using one of the spare units given.

Targash: I don't understand how you mean to use dialogs. Please be more specific on how exactly they would be used in the calculations.

Never mind it was just a fun idea i had. Since i have one unit over i was going to use it to generate a dialog in which u selected variables. It was gonna be an equation solver but its beyound the range of this competition.
