New trigger comp and site up

Finally after days of wrestling with the seriously deranged wc3c ftp, the site and second trigger competition are now up. I'm still performing a few touch-ups to the site here and there and adding some more content, but the core of the dynamic updating has been finished (I hope).

Competition II is a bit more varied and expansive to satisfy more of the populace, and as a result of the extra effort needed, entries will be accepted up to Midnight GMT on the 27th of June. Depending on how things go, I may extend that deadline further.

To tie up a few lose ends from the last post:
- JASS entries will now be accepted.
- Anybody can enter, not just those who competed the first time around.
- In references to the continuation of the last scenario, never fear. You'll be happy to know that we'll meet up with Tog and Ugbar later on down the track along with a number of other characters that you'll see in this next competition and later ones. I'm not creating all these wacky personalities for nothing :P.
-I'll leave the original post up for a day or so then unsticky it. All further trigger competition related comments should be directed here from now on.

Congratulations to all the winners of the last competition and my sympathy with those who didn't quite succeed. Hopefully they will have better luck this time around.

When I click on the comp02 link to DL, I just get a screen full of random characters, and when right clicking the link, I can only cut, copy and select all. I use netscape 7.0, and don't mess w/ the browser options. I'd really like to submit a map, as I already have an idea on how to do the advanced options.

Had no problem downloading. No problem making the calculator funtions. We do have a problem with your map setup/rules tho.

"All numbers are on the left section and all the functions are on the right."

"- Simple addition and subtraction functions for 2 unit entries with 2 decimal places (0.00 to 99.99)"

The problem is there is no button for a decmal. You have a pad with 10 buttons, 0-9 and thats it. Cant use 0 to create a decmal because if someone wanted to enter 0.04 they would get 0..4. For now we will use one of your extra buttons on the right side. Unless this is suposed to be part of the compettion please let us know what we are suposed to use as a decmal.

Also you didnt make it perfectly clear how the units are suposed to apear and disapear. We will make a best guess based on the regons you set up but you should explain how you want that part in a little more detail.

Bah, I knew someone would have problems. If you can't access the link on the site you can download it here.

Yes, just use one of the spare units on the right to create a decimal.

As for appearing and disappearing, it's up to you how it functions specifically. As long as I can see both the numbers I'm typing in and the answer represented by units, then it's fine. The regions aren't specific, they're just the general recommended area where the units should be created and removed. You will likely want to create more specific regions in that area for each digit.

ie. The left column shows the formulae that you are currently entering, and the right column shows you the answer.

Any more questions, feel free to ask.

OK we are done. Think the Jass ppl will have a advantage on this one. We did it with GUI and getting the units to apear and dissapear right was a pain. Interesting exercise tho....even learned a couple new things.

A few things about your side of the map. You used a unit with alternate art on the magic lantern. Lantern also has alternate art so it apears the same as the magic rune in game. The camera isnt centered in game. Prob is in your editor screen with a side window open tho....hehe. If you use neutral as the calc you will be able to read the button name when you hover. Right now you just see the player name.

All in all it was a interesting if not all that useful project. Doubt we will have much use for something like this in any of our maps. But hey, you never know....someday we might get a job in a calculator factory.

The 27th... hmm... well what the hell. I'm in.

EDIT: Can we play around with colors? Like add colors into unit names?

EDIT 2: On your site it says the deadline is the 24th.

Weee! Colors. I noticed in advanced options you want it limited to ABCD.EF. Limited to 9999.99? Why? Might aswell not put a limit on it.

Well that was just the amount I gave. Of course you can go above that if you want :).

Done and done. It doesn't have to show the units you are adding, like if you select 1, then 6, do the units have to be there then? Or can I just use text to show what the current digits are.

From Site:
- Important: The calculated numbers and the answers must also be given in unit representation Ie. If my answer was 5211.6 then my answer shown would be Skeleton|Footman|Sentry|Sentry||Wisp. You may also have a text display for the entered values and answer but unit-displayed 'numbers' are required.
I'm lenient in some areas but picky in others. This is one of the areas I'm picky about :P. Don't worry, I'm sure you already know how to pull it off :)

Yeah, that's for the answer, but say you have 16 x 4. Do you have to have the units showing before you hit equals? Or can it just be text there.
